Hi Brittany, I just started out on Etsy and your tutorial really helped me get on the right trajectory. Thanks a million and keep on being a pathfinder.
I appreciate how you explain such a hard topic (to someone who is new to this) in a way that helps me truly understand the ratios, file sizes, pixels, etc... by breaking down the properties of each file. Thank you so much for truly helping and not charging for this information. Starting a shop is overwhelming and your kindness to help guide us is amazing and so appreciated, thank you!!
This is very good content and exactly what I needed to find out as I'm just now getting started with putting art online. Thank you Brittany for your generosity, and I found your content style of delivery very refreshing. Everyone has their own style, but I felt relaxed listening because it wasn't a hundred rapid cuts of super fast talking which seems to be the YT standard approach. Thanks again, this was extremely helpful. Comment below compliments your "genuine demeanor" and I second that!
I'm crying right now because of how helpful this was. I've been so overwhelmed with feelings of failure because of this roadblock. I honestly can't thank you enough.
This is truly life changing! I cant tell you how confused I've become with all the resizing etc... You've lifted the veil and now I understand. Forever grateful - Julie ❤
Ahaha such a chaotic video but you explained all of it brilliantly 🥰 Just starting to take my etsy seriously so this is great to know, thank you for taking the time to go in depth into everything
This is exactly what I have been looking for; thank you so much for making it available and free to everyone struggling to wrap their heads around this information. The first thing you need to choose before creating digital art is what canvas size to work on, so despite having the program for making art ready to use on my device and the ideas already in my head, I have felt unable to begin the process, which has been so discouraging. Your explanation covered everything I was unsure of or had more questions about, and now I can finally start this process with confidence! I feel officially unstuck, and for that, you have my sincere and abundant gratitude!
EDIT 7/13: PLEASE do not contact me with questions on Etsy. I'd love to help you, but Etsy measures seller's performance based on how quickly we respond to direct messages. Please leave that space for customers and leave your questions for me here on TH-cam and I'll address them to the best of my ability. Thank you! Hi everyone!! Sorry for some occasional audio issues, don't know what that's about. I just wanted to say you don't HAVE to use the 5 files/sizing options I use. You can use whatever sizing options you like! But the rules I explain in the video will still apply for whatever sizing you pick 🙏
Out of all the videos I have watched, this has been the best in terms of explaining size! I have been so lost and confused and left with more questions and you cleared that up within the first 10 minutes. Thank you!!
I’m subscribed! :) I’ve seen so many videos and thought I needed to design each size I wanted to offer individually. That felt so overwhelming and discouraging. I use Canva, the free account, which doesn’t offer the resize feature. I’m so glad to see from your video that only one design per ratio can be created and it still gives a client plenty of options to choose from. Thank you for sharing this!
No problem!! Just a quick tip for you. Canva doesnt export in 300 dpi as a jpg. You'll have to export as a pdf then convert to 300 dpi jpg. There are many free websites to convert :) Happy designing
Thank you so much for this clear, easy-to-follow video! I've been working on opening a digital art store on Etsy for a few months. I had hit a wall of overthinking things (ESPECIALLY sizing), and you helped me knock it down. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is amazing. You have no idea how overwhelmed I have been feeling with every single little task I need to do to set up an Etsy shop, and you literally helped spring board me forward with figuring out these printing sizes. The only thing left for me is to figure out how to do good mockup photos and thumbnails and I may actually have a product I can sell on the platform! Thank you so much! :)
This is a great video!!! I have been trying to resize my art for months and was always left super disappointed when it came out blurry! A new stage in my art career has begun!! The age of clarity.
A1 is the second-largest format in the A paper size series. A0 refers to the full-size paper that is used for printing. In the past, we used A0 paper for printing, and then cut it into smaller sizes. A1 is created by folding A0 paper once, and each subsequent A format is obtained by halving the previous size, down to A6, and occasionally A8 or smaller, although I haven't seen paper cut that small. However, Yes. There are larger paper sizes available, as well as paper on rolls, which is a separate topic for discussion. EDIT done. (I went ahead and made some edits to that confusing text. I hope my changes have made it easier to understand now)
@@astoldbybrittany4342 No problem at all! I'm happy that I could be of assistance. I understand that my initial comment may have been a bit confusing. You are amazing, Brittany! Thank you so much for your clear explanation and demonstrations on the topic of sizing digital wall art. I had a cloud over my head on this topic. I feel truly enlightened on sizing now. I will go back and review it just to make sure I understood all the information you gave. I suggest this as a must-watch video for clarity on this subject🌺
Wonderful, the best sizing and resolution tutorial I have seen! Love your real conversational tone, succinct and to the point.. "The black screen of doom" had me LOOOOLLLL , it's so true haha, thank you! X
Just a nerdy side note if it helps : Jpg is a smaller file size and is more compressed ( on smaller images of 72 dpi - which is usually any phone photo is at, you tend to see square shape artifacts) Png is a larger file size and uses "lossless" compression i.e a higher quality and a cheaper version for a tga or tiff files ( formats used by printing studios) People usually use png if there is transparency (a.k.a Alpha) - e.g. for logos or graphics for t-shirts. The choice of jpg or png is in the eye of the artist when working at 300dpi and if customers are happy, then nothing to worry about. I would personally go for pngs for that extra quality assurance peace of mind, but for something like this you probably won't notice a difference at 300 dpi. Also when zipping up files like these jpgs would result in a smaller file size and stores may have a limit so its usually the better choice in that respect for 300 dpi. Plus use jpgs on store images as they will load faster than others because of the compression.
Every print house I work with recommends using JPG files at maximum quality setting over PNGs. Not sure of the "why" but this is consistent across all of the ones I tend to use (WHCC, Bay Photo mostly)
@@JohnVanderbeck The "why" is because PNG files are in RGB colorspace only, whereas JPG files can be either RGB or CMYK. The preferred colorspace for your average printing is CMYK. So JPGs are the best for prints!
THANK YOU! For taking away one of my procrastination excuses 😆 Been spending way too much time on researching this because I also prefer a simple and logic workflow 😅 awesome and simple explanation 🙌

@@astoldbybrittany4342 that's very nice of you. I have a couple of your videos queued up to watch. The ones on creating mock-ups. Looking forward to future videos as well
Here to say how incredibly helpful this was! I wanted to offer these sizes when I first launched my shop a few months ago but couldn't figure out how it all worked but your breakdown was so simple and easy to follow! I work in Canva which doesn't go up to the 24x36in pixels but I figured out a way to get that same quality via downloading the 24x36in size to their PDF Print option then converting that to a 300dpi JPG. I'll be doing a complete rehaul of my digital listings (nursery/kids' room niche) to hopefully attract more buyers with the 20+ sizes benefit. :) THANK YOU! PS - Love your designs, just purchased and downloaded one for my little reading nook. :) will be sure to leave a comment, too!
@@ahmedalaa1485 I created my illustrations in the largest sizes in inches in Canva (I.e., 24x36, 11x14), downloaded the file in PDF Print, then used a free online PDF-to-JPG file converter. Just be sure to check the file details to ensure the converted JPG file is 300dpi or equivalent pixels because I came across a few that converted at 200dpi. Hope that helps!

Thank you! Thank you so much!! I'm restarting my business, I didn't really get started (started as framed wall art) and got discouraged to promote it. Now I want it to be digital, promote my poetry and be creative and have fun.
Oh my god I actually love you. Thank you so much this was the most helpful video about digital wall art creation I've come across. Most of the other videos don't tell people that their art should be a certain amount of pixels per inch and I wonder how many have gotten bad reviews because of that. Thank you again!!!
Thank you for the step-by-step video!!! The whole thing is much clearer now. Also, I'm in math education and wanted to offer a different way to get at ratios. Brittany wants to make a fruit salad that calls for 3 apples for every 2 bananas. To make a batch that is twice as big as a batch with two bananas and three apples she'll need twice the number of bananas and twice the number of apples, so 4 bananas and 6 apples. To make a batch that is three times as big she'll need three times the number of bananas and three times the the number of apples, so 6 bananas and 9 apples ... Or, in inches, 2 inches by 3 inches, 4 inches by 6 inches, 6 inches by 9 inches ... People find it easier to think in terms of scaling up than scaling down. Hope this is helpful.
To those who want to understand ratio better. Each size directly correlates to the aspect ratio. E.g- 2:3 ratio... 4x6 inches is your smallest size here ... you would add the 2 from the ratio to the 4 which = 6...then add the 3 from the 2nd part of the ratio to the 6 which =9.... your next size up will now be 6 x 9 inches... Do the same again...add 2 from the ratio to 6.(6+2=8)....and add 3 from the ratio to 9 (3+9=12) ...your next size is now 8x 12 inches... and so on so forth....this method works with EVERY ratio when upscaling your size to the next size that fits that particular ratio(2:3) in inches etc. If you don't want to revert to the chart and can't remember the next size up, just calculate the next size by using this method. Comes in handy when upscaling from your head.
Thank you! Very very good video. 100% -- it is taking me about 45 minutes to do each listing from original art to post on easy and all the steps in between. My hardest part is the darn mockups.. no easy way to automate it that I have found.

This really helps me feel like I can do it too. Thank you for being awesome ❤️
I find that the really popular vids on youtube (while helpful) are a bit overwhelming for true beginners so I tried to frame it for people who are truly starting out like I was. I had nooooo idea about any of this and had to start from scratch. we all gotta start somewhere!
oh man.. five different sizes.. back to the "drawing board.." but as ive been at the monitor for 9 hours and my eyes are killing.. tomorrow is another day.. thank you for the knowledge new friend. grateful for you
I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I wanted to comment and let you (and others who might not know) but PNG is definitely better quality for image resolution. Because the image is a raster, it will be subject to resolution warping if the file is ever edited, and the resolution will continue to degrade the more often its altered. JPG and JPEG are fine for a printable file that is not intended for editing, but you should always have the source file of the image in the highest resolution possible so that you can always provide the cleanest resolution in other formats. You'll have best results if the original art was made using vectors, and more especially, scalable vectors. Hope this helps!

I struggled so so much with sizing and it took me FOREVER to understand it. A video like this didn't exist back then which is why I made it 🤩. Happy to hear it's been helpful, thanks for the love.
I've been struggling with sizing and resolution, Thank you very much ❤
@bimath8320 I haven't been able to see my Super Thanks comments, I'm so sorry I didn't thank you until now!! Your generosity is very appreciated, thank you for watching!!
This was just perfect!!! I have been confused for months about sizing and you just explained everything in the easiest way possible!!! Loved it
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL! Thank you, Brittany! Keep on shining!! You now have a fan forever!!
You are so good hearted to share this with us. I have never subscribed after only watching one video of someone's channel but your generosity and ability to explain this changed that. SUBSCRIBED!!!
Thanks for the love!
this was an absolutely incredible walk-through. as a tech savvy artist, this was the perfect blend of ‘in to the weeds’ and beginner language for anybody starting out in the realm of digital art selling. thank you, thank you so much! also, i absolutely love your artwork ❤
Wow, thank you bhagatriks! What a great comment to read. Thanks for watching
Hi Brittany, I just started out on Etsy and your tutorial really helped me get on the right trajectory. Thanks a million and keep on being a pathfinder.
Wonderful!
Glad it was helpful! It is indeed very overwhelming so I'm happy I could help you out a bit
I'm happy I am coming off well on camera. Thanks for the comment!
I'm crying right now because of how helpful this was. I've been so overwhelmed with feelings of failure because of this roadblock. I honestly can't thank you enough.
Me too. I just started designing w/o thinking so much of the sizes. I hve looking for these videos ..and this been very helpful.😢
So helpful! Big thank you, Brittany! I also love how you make the video in so relaxed way, no polished phrases, just go with the flow ❤
Glad it was helpful Tetiana!
This is truly life changing! I cant tell you how confused I've become with all the resizing etc... You've lifted the veil and now I understand. Forever grateful - Julie ❤
Ahaha such a chaotic video but you explained all of it brilliantly 🥰
Just starting to take my etsy seriously so this is great to know, thank you for taking the time to go in depth into everything
Thank you!!
woohoo thanks Samantha!
This video is pure gold! Thank you so much! I honestly want to hug you right now. My brain was about to explode trying to figure all of that out.
I'm glad your brain will be ok, we don't want it to explode!! I felt this way too when I started. Glad I could help.
There are many free websites to convert :)
Happy designing
@@astoldbybrittany4342 thank you!
O my goodness, you understood the assignment! What a awesome job! Thanks Brittany!
yes, it can be overwhelming at first but you got this!!! glad I could help
I’m just getting started with offering digital art on my website along with canvas prints and this tutorial is so well done. Thank you for doing this
Awesome! Thank you!
This is a great video!!! I have been trying to resize my art for months and was always left super disappointed when it came out blurry! A new stage in my art career has begun!! The age of clarity.
I'm so glad this was helpful for you Britt!
I hope my changes have made it easier to understand now)
Thanks for the info!
@@astoldbybrittany4342 No problem at all! I'm happy that I could be of assistance. I understand that my initial comment may have been a bit confusing. Nonetheless, I sincerely hope that you have a wonderful day. By the way, I appreciate the like/heart, even though it disappeared after I edited my comment. It made my evening, so thank you for that. Take care!
that was very helpful.. much more than the videos with 100ks views... I don't understand why genuine and good content like this doesn't have as many likes as it deserves...
I appreciate that!
Thanks for the love Marina!! I was SO CONFUSED when I first started so I'm happy to save you some time 😊
Wonderful, the best sizing and resolution tutorial I have seen! Love your real conversational tone, succinct and to the point.. "The black screen of doom" had me LOOOOLLLL , it's so true haha, thank you! X
Game Changer!!! I thought I was doing it right, but I was not. I'm glad I didn't get too deep into my shop thank you.
Great to hear!
Loving your vids! Just wanted to clarify if you meant 7201 or 7200 (which was what’s listed in the video info box)?
I would like to know this as well?
Thank you so much!!!! Yo are my heroine! I’m just starting to create my art and researching about it. I am truly grateful to you for content.
Thank you so much Mónica
This is so insanely helpful. The amount of value packed in this *free* video is incredible. Thank you so much!
Just a nerdy side note if it helps : Jpg is a smaller file size and is more compressed ( on smaller images of 72 dpi - which is usually any phone photo is at, you tend to see square shape artifacts) Png is a larger file size and uses "lossless" compression i.e a higher quality and a cheaper version for a tga or tiff files ( formats used by printing studios)
People usually use png if there is transparency (a.k.a Alpha) - e.g. for logos or graphics for t-shirts.
Thanks for this great explanation jezelf, thanks!
So JPGs are the best for prints!
jpeg for prints
@@mattm7426 Then how about PDF? I see some offering that.
Just wanted to say thanks so much. Awesome Tutorial and just did the steps in GIMP. 300 DPI and not quality changes. Awesome!
Glad it helped!
THANK YOU! For taking away one of my procrastination excuses 😆 Been spending way too much time on researching this because I also prefer a simple and logic workflow 😅 awesome and simple explanation 🙌
You're so welcome!
You are the ONLY one that has explained this and in such a straightforward manner. Thank you so much. Now I'm going to check out your other videos.
Hi Brittany, Thank you for making this video, very clear explanation and very informative.I’m thinking to start my own Digital business online and don’t know how to start. While watching your tutorials I have an ideas make this things possible.Thank you very much.
no problem, thanks for watching!
Thanks! big help
Thank you so much for the donation Jen! I'll be shouting you out on my next video :) Stay tuned
Ahh thank you so much for the support! That's one of my best sellers, I hope you enjoy :)
I'm happy to hear it was helpful!
pls can you tell me how can i make 300 dpi in canva and 24* 36 or 7201 px ??
@@ahmedalaa1485 I created my illustrations in the largest sizes in inches in Canva (I.e., 24x36, 11x14), downloaded the file in PDF Print, then used a free online PDF-to-JPG file converter. Just be sure to check the file details to ensure the converted JPG file is 300dpi or equivalent pixels because I came across a few that converted at 200dpi. Hope that helps!
@@audreygeorge9003 thx I will try
@@audreygeorge9003 this only increases the dpi value as text. It does not provide clarity in the image. This means that you are deceiving your customers. You can do the same with a power point. I hope your images are good in printing. Have you ever received feedback. Have you sold large images?
Thank You!!! Very much. I'm helping my mom get set up to sel and you literally just saved my life. Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!!!
Woo hoo! You're so welcome A Stylez!
This is such a good tutorial!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for being real!!!
You are so welcome!
Thanks so much for explaining these little details. I've been searching all over online for this for a while now. I really admire how knowledgeable you are about this stuff. 🙂
This video was super helpful and I actually was using GIMP a while ago for editing other personal photos, but getting into Etsy now, so I am exciting to apply your methods. 😊
Great to hear!
Thank you so much for this! It is so helpful. Beautiful, compelling and meaningful stuff btw in your art. On this journey and just beginning so this is so soooo helpful.
Thank you for saving my life. Because I didn't know how to do this job, I was trying to do and submit the other measurements below the basic 5 measurements. There were so many files in total that I couldn't understand how all the people uploaded so many files to Ets. It's a great content, thanks.
Etsy üzerinden satışa başladın mı? Nasıl gitti?
@@busratz Sadece 5 ürün yükledim ve çok ilgilenemedim. Henüz hiç satış yapmadım. Umarım ileride değişir, bilemiyorum.
Omg thank you so much for making this video and taking your time explain all this! I was so lost and confused about it, but I believe I have some understandings of it. However might have to rewatch this again. Also so pleased you mention about landscape, since I want to make art in landscape as well. Anyway freaking great video! ^-^
You're so very welcome! Happy to hear it's been helpful.
Just as a side note I've noticed landscape art doesn't tend to sell as well for whatever reason... don't really know. So I'd make sure to have a good balance of vertical art in your shop too. 👍
@@astoldbybrittany4342 Awe that's strange, you think it would? Also thank you for letting me know. And will do!

Hi there Brittany.I really appreciate you doing this! I really want to be like you guys that make passive income from online digital products but there is a lot to learn like Keyword research, good photos, etc.I really hope you can touch on those in the future and once again thanks for taking the time to do this because you didn't have to.

Thank you so much for being so generous Brittany! Best wishes.

Thanks Umesh!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining ratio!! I was really struggling!
haha YES I was SOOO confused at first too. That was one of the main reasons why I wanted to make this video; to explain that because I just COULD. NOT. UNDERSTAND for the longest time.
Glad it was helpful :)

You are very kind to give us your Knowledge and Information freely. Keep up the great work your channel will grow. You're doing great.
Thank you! Will do PKC!
My art is all 16:9 so I'll have to figure it out, not sure if that's also just a matter of going into the settings and clicking horizontal button as you say in 22:12
I got you to 2K! :) It said 1.99K when I found this video, then I subscribed, refreshed and BAM there you are! Congrats!

Hey Brittany, thank you so much for taking the time to make this really helpful and informative video. you're so very welcome! thanks for watching
One of the most helpful videos I have ever come across. Subscribed - keep up the awesome work!
This helped so much. Not many people go into so much detail . I have put off uploading because I struggle with sizing
thank you so much for this, it was so helpful. I just started selling digital products on Etsy and I am new to creating digital art.
I love this! Thanks for watching :)
Yes, I think people underestimate how long a single listing takes to complete from start to finish!
This is amazing! Thank you for such an indepth take on it. I’m planning on starting my first etsy shop with printable art and this video is so helpful. Also, I love the fact that you admit to not know everything and are not affraid to use google. I rarely find tutorial people who are so relatable and not overwhelming.
Thank you so much for the info PomnCraft!!
You are adorable. So candid. Thank you so much for putting this together. It’s amazingly helpful.
Glad it was helpful, thanks Cindy!

Thank you so much for this video! Informative, amazingly helpful and finally easy to understand! Yeah, can’t thank you enough how simply and well you explained it all! I wonder if you could make a video how you would downsize these images for the listing photos? I imagine the file sizes are massive!
I love your simplicity in explaining the process.

great to hear this feedback, thanks Paul!
