This is probably the only channel that I will willingly watch a 55min long video. No BS, no Jargon, just straight wrenching on shit. Love your content man keep it up 🤙🏼
I’m going to give you some GREAT advice. Replace that seal on the cowl that seals the hood to the cowl. My 2004 expedition would not stop eating the back passenger coil and kept getting water in the spark plug hole. Had the wife run water down the windshield multiple times, then I noticed that seal was in an oval shape and not round. Got a roll from Amazon and boom, the coil issue has not happened since. Just some advice to prevent future issues. Amazon part # C002-16F
I got a soft spot for Ford Lightnings. I use to have a 1999 model for 10+ years. It use to be my daily driver until gas prices went thru the roof. Since I didn’t drive it much, I Iet my 80 year old mom start driving it. She loved it. She drove it until she was 86. She had a stroke that year and couldn’t drive anymore. She never hit a car or curbed a wheel.
Just got home from work. Drove my Mercury Capri and did a few smoke shows on the way home. Get home to this juicy reward. Thank you Chris. You know how to get us into the 4th in style. Best channel out there. Keep it going my man
Well Pilgrim, one of the reasons you are so well regarded, is that you are dedicated to being an Apostle of the "7-P's"....as you advance your projects. salute.
A little food for thought. I have a 2015 Jaguar XJR with 5.0L engine with an Eaton supercharger. 550hp. Wanting that awesome blower noise that the factory sealed system completely killed, I replaced the factory system with a Mina Gallery “””cold air intake””” (use that term for what you will). It was essentially two plates with rubber sealing against the hood and no-name cone filters. Though I modified the plates to utilize the factory ram air tubes from the front of the radiator, the car felt way down on power, despite how epic it sounded. Plugged in my scanner and saw my intake temps were up about 50-60° compared to when I tested it with the factory system. Feeling confident that the higher temps were killing power, I went to a friend’s to use his dyno. Ran the “cold air system” and then the factory system back to back. The “cold air intake” - which I struggle to even call it that at this point - sucked out 38 wheel horse power from the system. An amount my butt dyno was actually feeling. With the hood open sucking ambient shop air - which was about 90° - it killed 26 wheel horsepower. So, the factory intake is back on the car and the lovely supercharger noise is now quiet again. I wouldn’t be surprised if your cone filter just sitting in the engine bay breathing hot air (even with what looks like a cold feed tube beneath it) is killing HP and torque.
I was finally able to get through this video to be able to enjoy all the fun with the Lightning. That truck is the pinnacle of what a "Fun Truck" should be.
Chris , you have the Midas touch with vehicles . You always take misfits and turn them into superstars . I really admire your skills and attention to details .
Hell yeah. I’m a 3rd time around Lightning owner, my second ‘94, first white, current Black, and a previous Silver ‘00, still have visitation rights. I love watching content like this. Look forward to more with your truck. 🤙🤙⚡️⚡️⚡️
Love your videos Chris and glad to see the lightning back! She’s a beast and beautiful truck! I know this lighting will look new when your done Chris! And great deal on this truck!
Dynojet, in the race bikes I ran for years, does a great job if they are tuned properly. They are a piggyback tuner for an otherwise "locked" factory ECU. They usually come with a "canned" tune for the application they are purchased for which, can then be fine tuned with the free software either at a Dynojet tuning center or at home if your fairly astute. I've used them for about 25 years on my bikes. I have one now on my old '01 Ducati 750SSie. I especially like the "accelerator pump" function!
cant wait to see this thing come back to life! i appreciate watching this cause i own an 04 black lightning. I say ditch that ugly roll pan but just my .02 cents either way love the content. Keep it coming.
Congrats chris you're doing the thang ! Greag videos, super informative and super engaging. This is types of videos true enthusiasts like watching. Excited to see what else you do with the lightning !
One trick with laying up fiberglass is to put it in a ziplock bag, pour in the resin, and impregnate it in the bag by rolling something over the bag/glass/resin. You can do this with multiple plies and then just lay them on your repair. It also helps if you need 90° cross sections between plies. Just a tip. Good job.
Sweeeet, kick@ss video, awesome promo on that smoke machine, a must to get one. Those spark plug changes are not the easiest on the F150 2V motors for these body style, for the passenger side. What a great buy on this truck, when I was looking, those trucks were going for close to 30K for one with 120k miles or more. Awesome that you got her running very stout. Very awesome truck, great video well into 3 beers during the video.
Pretty sure that dangling sensor went on the factory fuel rail which is why it was left disconnected. The intake repair looks good but without the airbox the ram air hose is now useless and the tube just hangs in the air without any support.IMO definitely put the air box back in
Another great video Chris. Love the content man, keep it coming. I’m glad you’re not exclusively a one brand guy but I enjoy that it’s mainly American 🇺🇸
Awesome video as always Chris! I'm not a Ford fan but always watch your videos the day they are released. You simply have the best content on YT and I really like how you troubleshoot and improve every vehicle you work on. My only complaint is you don't release enough videos:) Awesome content and keep up the great work! Already looking forward to the next video.....which hopefully is on a GM product😁
The coil problem on those engines is usually caused by water getting in the plug holes by the thermostat plenum leaking on either side of the engine. It shorts the coils out until the holes dry up and then does it again once it gets warm and the orings in the thermostat plenum leaks again. The heads also have problems with the threads for the spark plug hole. A good mod for those trucks is to replace the heads and intake to the Trick Flo heads and intake. It solves the head and thermostat problems. I’ve blown plugs out of holes by lack of thread in the heads.
Yes.. map sensor just hangs in there cause egr delete has been done.. im currently figuring out a boost leak (3psi) on my whipple Lightning, thinking it's coming from the bypass actuator orings
Awesome content! I thought for sure that that storm rollin’ in was going to produce some lightening for your video LOL. looking forward to seeing what else you do to this beautiful beast.
Just motivated me to do some fixes to mine. Had same surging and bucking, but mine was because I forgot to plug in injector #4, 4 months after the fact.
Another banger Chris! Hawk Tua was priceless. I hope she’s getting rich on selling t-shirts right now. Stay Tuned is growing fast and very cool that you know “Barb”. I can see your channel growing very quickly with all of these projects to make content on. It’s a ton of time to place cameras and film, edit, etc…kudos for putting in the hard work with the rest of life not slowing down. Really great garage line up. I see the cobra stang being sold cause the lightning truck seems like a better piece to keep. Enjoy the 4th everyone!!
I just pull the blower to change plugs, otherwise it is impossible to get a torque wrench in there to properly torque the plugs. JLP heads will have all of the the spark plug threads replaced with the inserts. I'm not saying those are better, just saying that the tq spec is important.
Hunted a periodic miss in my early 2000 truck for several months. It ended up being broken wire in wiring harness. I was at a mechanic shop when a gentleman walked up and shook the wiring harness to #3 cylinder and it started missing. Apparently a common problem. It was sending a #3 cyljnder misfire code.
Hey Chris thanks for posting the link for the foam cannon. Can you post a link on the power washer as well? Looks like a Greenworks or Ryobi? Looking for same kind of unit, electric and running well water here too. Mostly for C5Z06 and some house siding. Any pointers for Dot Matrix tinting? Anyone? Central NJ here.
This is probably the only channel that I will willingly watch a 55min long video. No BS, no Jargon, just straight wrenching on shit. Love your content man keep it up 🤙🏼

Not sure if they have it locally to you, but i think you would really be happy with a dry ice cleaning if your engine bays and under carriages.
That supercharger is crying out to be polished.

I wonder if you put that 5" coupler in some boiling water if you could stretch fit it.
Frps is that connector dangling not needed unless your data logging the return fuel system got rid of it you can install it in the rail or line
Great as always hope you and yours have a great 4th
