When I gegenpress I just use PI's to focus on specific players or make players close down more, if I was playing the game properly I would use oppo instructions to focus on players causing problems like a creative winger or midfielder etc

Definitely worth a try the pi makes AM play wider in the channels so maybe inside forward sit narrower might be another good option
