Complicated love affair this little big cruiser. Love the build and layout, but feel all the ingenuity kinda is also the boats short-coming, in that you end up with VERY little storage space for typical cruising accessories like dive bottles, compressor, water maker, generator etc. wonder how space would work out if they tossed the volvo engine for a generator, and battery bank, and put one of the new electric drives on the boat. but its still tight no matter how you flip it. "indoor" is litterally the deck-saloon and the kitchen, very little space to move around, compare to a far less expensive Jeanneu 490 sleeps 6 for less with much more "room to live" under deck. *that said - the construction of the 40DS is legendary, and I want a boat for higher latitudes and keep coming back to the 40DS as probably one of the most bullet proof options in the size/pricepoint BTW.. Love the work of YACHT TV. Im danish living in Hollywood, and learned German in school, by accident started watching your content and find it some of the best on TH-cam in terms of quality.
Hi Bo, thanks for your thoughts! But I think you should definitely visit a 40 DS live in person. I can not really think that you have more gear than fits into the stowing spaces of this yacht. I think you relate to the 3 cabin layout. Note that these boats are build to order and mostly are tailored heavily to the demands of the clients. For example you could trade the aft cabin for a huge walk-in-stowing space. In here dive bottles and compressor would be no problem at all. Best regards, Marc-Oliver v. Ahlen

Wir migrieren nur aktuell unseren gesamten Video-Inhalt zu YT, daher tauchen die "alten" Fillme nun stückweise hier auf. In Zukunft (ab ca. Dezember) wird es dann nur noch frisches Material geben, versprochen. VG NIls
Hi really hate the modern trend of having a perpendicular bow. Has anyone done any testing to see how much the boat is slowed down by how much resistance there is with all the plowing effect?
Hi, I understand the styling approach, that you personnaly just do not like it. That's fine. But a more raked stem would result in a shorter Waterline. This would compromise the hullspeed which is a vital factor for the performance of a displacement hull. In other words, the steeper or more modern stem gives a longer waterline and better speed at lighter, moderate and stronger wind speeds. The downside however is a slightly increased wetted surface which indeed slows the craft down in very light winds - but the Sirius 40 DS is not optimized for those light conditions. For all not used to German: If you are looking at it on a PC or laptop you can switch on the subtitles in the settings in the bar under the video on the right hand side. It´s a bit hidden as you have to click Settings/subtitles/German(auto-generated) and then have to go again to settings/subtitles and can now chose your language. That’s only as good as auto translation goes, but does have some humor in itself ;-)
