I completely agree: definitely not for everyone, and I personally don't know any of my synth-loving friends that could benefit from an instrument like the Wing Pinger; for me though, I was already pinging and looking for sinewaves everywhere, so it was like the natural conclusion :) Thank you for checking out my video, and stay tuned for more and more (and eventually, when I will be more acquainted with it, a much needed demo/tutorial/review of it because I haven't seen any around)
@@Dexba It's definitely something that needs a good tutorial/review. Please upload one if you have the time. I'm sure it would help Meng Qi out immensely.
Thank you so much, humbled 🧡 And yes, I honestly think the look is a very underappreciated aspect of an instrument, not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also for the approachability, playability, and overall how "inviting" is the experience in general :)
What a beautiful looking instrument. You got some nice tones out of the expo FM. Those pure sines are crying out for some just intonation so they can really lock in with each other.
I think it could possibily be the BEST looking instrument out there, but I have a big soft spot for black+gold+wood. I am playing a lot with FM and there are some gorgeous beatings just waiting to burst! As for the intonation, I admit I have been a bit lazy and I didn't run the calibration yet 😄 I was too eager to start playing and recording!
This is the most basic (but also best, I would argue) laptop stand you can find on your online store of choice. Just make sure it's the one made of metal, since they use the same mold for plastic ones too, but even metal ones are $7 and the are amazing for almost all kinds of instruments
@@Dexba if it’s okay to ask as well, what specific power supply do you use for the wp? Struggling to find with that’s suitable with the 2.1mm barrel requirement!
@@aleatory.exe777 absolutely no problem, I’m happy to help. In this video I used the the power supply that came with my SOMA Lyra/Pulsar, right now I am using anything I have laying around. Mostly the power supply of my LaCie hard disk, but you’ll be fine with even the most random power supply you can find at home or online: 12V is very common; just make sure the polarity is correct, that could be an expensive mistake 😄
@@Dexba the manual says the barrel size should be 5.5 x 2.1, but I’m struggling to find many that are both 12v and 2.1, mostly 2.5. Any chance you know if that’s an issue either? Genuinely appreciate your help, been lurking this and other wing pinger videos for years and somehow managed to find one…so being extra careful haha
Ahaha, you could see it that way indeed! But luckily, it has way more to it. ☺️ And even if it didn’t, you know… nice is nice, a bit like every watch tells the time but they range from $1 to $5.000.000 That’s not the case though 😄 and I will upload some explanation to the instrument in the future, when I will be more proficient!

Been looking at one of these for a while. Definitely not an instrument for everyone, but very intriguing. Thanks for providing such a musical demo.

Lovely instrument. Nice play through🦑
Lovely indeed! And thank you so much 🧡
Wow that is a thing of beauty!
It is! And it has so much presence.
Love at first sight.
Oh, and it sounds so much better than a record can convey! 🤙🏻
Woah! I need to do a little research, I guess😁
It always end up in the same way: empty pockets ⚡

fu*k^ng awesome!!!!!!
Can’t wait to record more: it’s possibly the “simplest” instrument with more range I’ve ever tried, from gnarly FM bass to the sweetest leads 🧡
So glad to have found your video...................the video and the gear are exciting, unique and inspiring.....
@@willswitchcraft I am glad too, I love interacting with other enthusiasts!
