I think video games have already reached their peak when it comes to fun an simple playability. Sure, nowadays games are bigger in many ways and have long challenged movies in terms of presentation. BUT are they really "bigger" , meaning more fun or presenting much new, gameplay wise? A lot of things have been quite stale since a minute. Don't get me wrong, I play new AAA games, but I seldom would say this or that is peak or truly amazing. At least when we talk about stuff that hasn't anything to do with looks or presentation.
@@PakRT84I started horizon forbidden west on pc last week since it came to pc and I am 5 hours in and am already bored of it. The game is beautiful. But it just feels so samey compared to so many other games I’ve already played. Nothing against newer games. I still enjoy new games, but there is some charm that has been lost over the years when games were made for fun first rather than to try and make the most money possible.

On the other side I more and more get back to supposedly simpler and more straightforward games that offer fun game play but don't send me into a world with tons of repetitive open world mechanics that in the end do nothing but waste your time.

Maaaaaaan GT2 was THEE game for my older brother & his mechanic friends. I can still remember all of them coming in through the front door with memory cards in hand stating they had modded their cars to win that quarter mile record. Also, GT2 has the best opening cinematic out of the entire franchise.

@@KelzCasa Not just Gran Turismo but gaming in general.. Over the past week my internet/cable got cut off for a few days.. On my Xbox One I couldn't even view my digital game library without internet.. Games I actually purchased with my own damn money I wasn't even allowed to view without an internet connection.. I Couldn't watch Bluray or DVD's on my Xbox One either without connecting through the xbox store... Good thing I own a ps4 and PC. That really made me appreciate picking up physical copies of games but the fact I couldn't even watch a Bluray or DVD on my Xbox without an internet connection really left a bad taste in my mouth and I usually play my Xbox more than any of my other consoles mostly because of Gamepass. Building my gaming rig over the next week or 2 so I no longer have to deal with that BS.
Need for Speed, Gran Turismo and Tokyo Extreme Racer, are the reasons why I became a mechanic and my love of cars and also my reason I almost lost my license several times😂😂😂
I played GT1 to death but when my mom got me GT2 for Christmas it took over my soul. It has been a huge part of my identity ever since. I have the US spec menu music downloaded to listen to whenever I want (that main menu music).
Still have fond memories of GT2, and still holds up well. Was a little late to the game only getting a playstation when the PSOne was released, but I never regretted that purchace!
Grand Tourismo 2 is the GOAT of racing game, the amount of content and cars.. Kid me had a garage of thousands of cars ... honestly, gaming was so great back then , you could get lost in just one game. Thanks for sharing man, I might try it out.
Back then I used to bother my dad to get a CLK instead of a E-Class because I used to love the CLK. I wasn't successful in convincing him but at least I managed to buy my own Z4M later down the line.
I think it's that they took out the Racing Modification from the tuning shop in every other one after 2. At least for me it made the newer games seem less appealing.
Im happy that more prolific youtubers are sharing this information. Theres so many programs that bring new life into the early 3d consoles like ps1, ps2, etc. and you dont necessarily need an expensive pc to play them
Or just buy the original games and hardware. The PS1 and PSOne are readily available on the used market and for cheap. Same with the PS2, seeing that Sony built 155 million of 'em.

Metal Gear Solid will always be my favorite PS1 game....but I highly doubt I've ever put more hours into a game than I did with GT2. The game still holds up to this day and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Ive literally recently fired up my PS3 to play my PS1 games and GranTurismo was definitely played. I have always loved it and you're right, we all learnt so much. I first played it when i was 7 years old. changed my life haha
the Duckstation settings you go through... are those what you are also setting for all games using Duckstation, or game-specific (with powerful enough PC specs ofcourse)?
I wouldn't say it looks like a PS2 game, but it looks like a 90s PC racing game. Most Need for Speed games on the PC I remember looking like this. Well really they looked even better, but I would say GT2 on the duckstation emulator looks like a middle market racing game for PC in the late 90s.
I played a few hours of this "remastered" version. I think it's gooooood... but when I switched to Gran Turismo 4 in PCSX2, the second I started driving, my eyeballs literally said "OMG THANKS DUDE!"

Just went to go watch this after the Nintendo switch one, and I gotta say he’s still the same guy I’ve watch before back when the ps5 first was coming out. This is a pretty damn good video with some hard evidence to back up just how grand this game actually is.👏🏽
I'm not into emulation, but having a new version with updated content seems intriguing. GT2 is still a joy to play today. It's the game that brought me into the racing genre in the first place. An absolute classic.
In 2000 I was 16. Gran Turismo 2 was my favorite game and Gone in 60 Seconds was my favorite movie until the next year when Fast & the Furious came out.
I wouldnt mind if they kept doing this with older games. Id pay full price for games like Spyro, Metal gear, Resident evil etc. remastered with new content
I grew up playing GT from the first one, GT7 is possibly the best one since 3. I play it every day since launch and still have so much left to complete. Fantastic game.
The pop in and flat trees make it clear that this is still not as good as PS2 but I have been impressed with this mod since I first saw it. The car surfaces are less glossy in GT3 and GT4 and that makes it look more realistic. The main wish I have is that I could play it with pressure sensitive triggers for throttle and brake. All things considered, this will always be one of my favorite games and this mod is *really* impressive.

I know it would never happen but if SONY ever decided to completely remaster the original two GT games from the PS1, I'd list my Xbox Series X for sale and immediately go out and buy a PS5 just for that reason alone.
I literally just picked up a copy of GT2 for like $5 at a retro fest a few days ago. I thought the graphics would turn me off, but its an awesome game so far. The sim disc is structured very similarly to GT7, im digging it
I remember my friends and I figured out we could take the suzuki escudo pikes peak version and make it just nasty. We used that in every event we could.
I guess I will mess up trying to explain this but I wish that among the updates, wheel distortion (when the image of a spinning wheel meshes to a single image) would be one of them. It’s just more real. When the wheels spins in those old games they keep the same look, no distortion, just like when you’ll see it through a matching FPS camera. It’s awkward. If someone knows about this visual phenomenon I’d appreciate if you explain to me how is it called lol
I actually went wild over Gran Turismo 4 recently. I feel like that might be one of the best car games ever. I got Gran Turismo 7 and actually liked that one but 4 is still the champion for me. I'll have to check this out. I bought GT2 a few years ago, but the grave rate and grainy texture was too distracting on my 60 inch tv. I am excited to try this hack. I also learned a great deal about cars and race driving from this game. GT SPORT was ok. I really love the modification freedom and livery aspect in GT7, the game progression makes in GT2 was the best.
This is the car game that I played the most in my life. I'm I huge sim racing fan and still play racing games but none of them match GT2. Career mode progressions is what made that game fun. You start buy buying a used car and climb from there wich is more realistic than spin a wheel a win 3x Ferraris...
First I'm hearing about any possible means of alleviating pop-up - please elaborate, as it was one of my biggest gripes with the title since day one on my PS1 (while the lack of popup was one of the reasons I loved 'Vanishing Point'...)...
I emulate GT1, 2, 3, and 4 using PS1 and PS2 emulators on my racing rig PC in order to use my wheel and pedals for all the games. The PS1 emulator emulates a NeGcon controller with auto-center enabled and 200-degree wheel turn set, and the PS2 emulator emulates a Logitech GT Force wheel for GT3 (set to 200-degrees on the wheel) and a Driving Force Pro for GT4 (for 900-degree wheel) - force feedback on both GT3 and GT4 work. I've also tried to set up a config for my GimX module and I can get my Logitech G29 controls to work on GT3 on an actual PS2, but I haven't figured out how to get force feedback working, so there's no force feedback while playing the game. It was just a LOT easier to emulate the game and have the emulator handle the input translations - also removes lag from the equation.

Car culture started way earlier. For me it was with dukes of hazard and smokey and the bandit. I was a teenager in 2000 (born in 1984)

I was thinking today at work that it would be cool if they modernised this and Gran Turismo 1 and guess what's sitting in my suggested videos tonight when I get home. Phones must be able to read minds now haha
I bought GT2 a few years ago, but the grave rate and grainy texture was too distracting on my 60 inch tv. I am excited to try this hack. I also learned a great deal about cars and race driving from this game. GT SPORT was ok. I really love the modification freedom and livery aspect in GT7, the game progression makes in GT2 was the best.

All I need to know is can I do all this with emulator and stuff like that on my Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra as I do not have a PC
This is the car game that I played the most in my life. I'm I huge sim racing fan and still play racing games but none of them match GT2. Career mode progressions is what made that game fun. You start buy buying a used car and climb from there wich is more realistic than spin a wheel a win 3x Ferraris...
Funny thing, I just got a copy of GT 2 for my ps2 slim and still looks really good on a CRT 480i
I was actually using duckststion earlier and playing GT1. Had most of the same settings for graphics as you. Ill need to get that GT2 A-Spec.

First I'm hearing about any possible means of alleviating pop-up - please elaborate, as it was one of my biggest gripes with the title since day one on my PS1 (while the lack of popup was one of the reasons I loved 'Vanishing Point'...)...

I emulate GT1, 2, 3, and 4 using PS1 and PS2 emulators on my racing rig PC in order to use my wheel and pedals for all the games. The PS1 emulator emulates a NeGcon controller with auto-center enabled and 200-degree wheel turn set, and the PS2 emulator emulates a Logitech GT Force wheel for GT3 (set to 200-degrees on the wheel) and a Driving Force Pro for GT4 (for 900-degree wheel) - force feedback on both GT3 and GT4 work.
I've also tried to set up a config for my GimX module and I can get my Logitech G29 controls to work on GT3 on an actual PS2, but I haven't figured out how to get force feedback working, so there's no force feedback while playing the game. It was just a LOT easier to emulate the game and have the emulator handle the input translations - also removes lag from the equation.
