Cod is one of the most prolific fish in the ocean. They breed in thousands and grow to a large size quickly. But they need to get the time to do it. In the eighties I had a session (NIGHT) where I caught 7 up to 7lbs. That was not unusual. My biggest was in 1982 at 27lbs. I doubt we will ever see those days again. It is entirely due to overfishing. Sad that greed is the overriding interest. Great video Slippy!
fished this place today, ive had a lot of species from here, cod, coalies, wrasse, flattys, pollock, conger, shad and mackerel but its a hitty missy spot and the scenery is beautiful and quite deafening while the kittiwakes and other birds are nesting, good vid slippy keep it up!
Yeah I find it a bit like that, it's either on or not on. I've never really had anything of real size but it's a nice spot to go. thanks for the comment
It's a Gemini Solo Splash Down with a rotten hook added to the lead holder of the Splash Down. Then tie a length of weaker line to the lead and splash down. When the lead hits the seabed then the hook releases the lead. Makes it safe for casting.
+Gaming Chewbacca sorry Chewie that bit wasn't meant for you. mackerel are great fighters, especially on light tackle, but they can get irritating when you're fishing for other species.

27lb!! These days I'd have to go to Norway to land something like. Totally agree. Regulations need to change if the cod are to survive. Thanks again

Last one getting chucked back got twatted off the rocks. Try being a bit more careful if you're releasing fish.
He still swam off but you're tight, he was a little close to the edge.
Nice one buddy. Back on the kayak soon!!🎣😄
Cheers John, yep can't wait :)

nice video man good job
you should go mackerel fishing with feathers
mackerel are a pain in the are, they destroy soft plastics when you're targeting other species! have you fished that mark yet?
