Glad you enjoyed! Aye, she's a wee bit keen! Maybe not on the cod fishing so much, but defo loves the bass and the being on the boat. Tight lines and all the best!👍🎣
Nice one lad, good to get some tugs early in the season! I'm holding off until a nice easterly blows in. With the dingle dangles btw: leave them longer as you said, and setting the hook is just a super slow pull up into the fish as you reel. If you set like J hooks, they just wont set a lot of the time
So far, those conditions seem like a long time coming this year. I can't wait till the first proper sea. Aye, need to keep reminding myself about striking when using Dingle dangles, I had no problem when fishing for rays so need to up my cod game!! Tight lines👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Aye ain't that right. Keeping myself busy with lures and conger baits from the rocks in the west highlands for now. Aye, right pain in the arse to reverse years of muscle memory for circles hahah. Keep at it and it'll be well worth it though. Better than j hooks in my head 👍
Nicely done Nathan, lovely to get target fish too , hopefully the big ones aren’t to far away . Ya gotta love cod season . Appreciated as always mate 🎣👍🏼 Paul
Good to see you out with the winter fishing gear, good watch as always👍 I've had dongle rigs ready to go but haven't broken them out yet, its a learning curve I'll tackle if the winter fishing ever kicks off down here in Cornwall. The look on her face said it all mate, don't think she will be with you on the rocks too often 🤣
I'll stick to learning lure fishing in the daylight - that looked hard-core - still got fish on the shore & still the viewing highlight of the week when content drops - thanks
You can lure fish for codling as well, they like deep water and plenty of cover during daylight (there's a vid coming soon!) Glad you like the content. Tight lines👍🎣
Nice one Nathan, I’ve been looking into the dongles and I do like what they potentially offer. Supposedly snag up less and less likely to deep hook fish. Certainly something I’ll be trying to use in the future. As always thanks for sharing and tight lines buddy👍
If you watch Billy fishing's videos on it, he gives some great tips and some rigs that work great with them. Works fantastic for deep water and rough ground
This is the 2nd season I've flirted with Dingle dongles🤣 They worked great with rays and had a couple of cod last season. None were deep hooked so easily released. Less snaggy but do produce a load of false bites when there's smaller fish around. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Ahh i see you using a dingle dongle and circle hooks just so you know its going to take a while to get use to this you really have to sit on your hands when you get a bite and wait for the fish to swim off or line slack bite but believe in the process 1000s of south Aricans and me cant be wrong about this method good luck next time bud ❤
Oh well that's your fishing finished for a while Nathan, he he, Was it would you like to come and see my lures? or the old fishing favourite to do with worms?
You sponsored by century now as seem to be using a few different rods of theres lately from lure to beach casters fireblades t700 t900 what’s the best one I love the tip tornado personally 👍 favourite though is zippy evolution hope century make some new versions of them
Not sponsored, just on their sea fishing team. It really depends on what type of fishing you're doing but, I must say, I do really like the 14ft fireblade's. Really easy to fish and cast with and have a good blend of sensitivity and back bone to cover most fishing. Tight lines👍🎣
@ cheers for the reply Nathan I live in Türkiye now and the ground isn’t rocky at all you sometimes get the odd patch of reeds no seaweed at all so was thinking the fireblades heard good things about them Tip tornadoes you just don’t need that power over hear same with the zippy and the sea is that corrosive to gear if you forget to wash down your stuff is buggered. most the time am using Tronixpro banzai match rods but fancy something a little pokier 👍
Hi mate, also north east based. I’m looking for a new reel to cope with rough ground I’m not wanting to spend much more than £100-£120.. what would you recommend? Cheers 👍🏼
Hi Tom, I reckon Penn reels take some beating for durability and value. The Penn Battle is a beast but reasonably expensive. but you could try the Surfblaster 8000
Do big fish attack a bait if a crab is already nibbling on it ???i have probkems with crab eating my bait all tge time. I need to spend more time preparing my bait with gauze or bait elastic.
The crabs don't out fish off taking your bait, the fish will eat them too. The problem with crabs is they can strip your bait before the fish have a chance to take the bait. You can use a tough bait like squid to help your bait last longer, also, crabs don't seem to like eating peeler crab baits.
Hello Nathan! I am currently living in Dubai and I am planning to move to Scotland for my first course in University, I will be living near Edinburgh in University Accomodation and because I barely know anything about the city and fishing near it I just wanted to ask - how is fishing near edinburgh? Is it any good for fishing and are the rivers near it like River Esk good for freshwater fishing? Hope you will reply, thank you.
You can fish the water of leith which runs through Edinburgh City. And if you have transport then you are only a short drive away from many many locations surrounding Lothian. Make sure you try chippy sauce when you get to Edinburgh. Locals favourite ✌
Wtf are dongles.. they are a pc term for a usb stick of a type like WiFi dongle.. if you are referring to the rod lights that's a bad reference as that's what they are rod bite lights/indicator. Been using them years
Nice video mate. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Good on Joanne for getting out and involved. All the best bud. 👍🏻🎣
Glad you enjoyed! Aye, she's a wee bit keen! Maybe not on the cod fishing so much, but defo loves the bass and the being on the boat. Tight lines and all the best!👍🎣
Proper cod fishing video Nathan, cant beat the rattle on the tip, well done bud!
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it🎣
Been waiting for this one ! Well done on first trip looking forward to more ! And you had great company there as well . 😊
Cheers mate, can't wait to get back out on the cod. Tight lines👍🎣
Love your winter cod videos…they’re definitely my favourite. Also Joanne looked a lot happier than my missus first fishing trip in Eyemouth 😬
Morning mate, not being able to get out . Work an life has taken over lol . Get to see you out . Thanks for sharing 👍😎
Well done Nathan your first cod of the season , as always take care & tight lines

Great video as always Nathan , looking forwards to the next one tight lines .

Tight lines mate!👍🎣
Nice one Nathan, love the winter cod vids. All the best from GRIMSBY
Always enjoyable Nathan, always. 😊
Fantastic to see you back on the cod mate
Thanks mate, been a long time coming. Loved being back out
@ can’t beat being on the rock ends on a cold winter night
Great video Nathan. Nice codling. Well done.
Glad you liked it, Colin👍🎣
Lol she loved it lad , looking forward to seeing her allowed on the rods
Deep down inside she did! I'll get her trained up.
Slippy shorten the baits on the dongle but keep the same amount of bait just fatten them up think the hookup rate will improve considerably

@ great minds! I’ve binged watched his channel recently, very good👌
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing love that channel! I fish a lot from land in Norway as well, so hugely helpful channel.

Also known as dingle dangles- They're a way of attaching bait below the hook to help stop deep hooking fish and snagging up as much
Ah right I wonder is WiFi ones work😂😂😂
😂Maybe as a weight!
Where's a half decent lure for a noob lure fisherman Nath
All the year's they have been about and you are only now learning? Better late than never
