I Spun a Wheel to Pick My Hook, Yarn, and Project (It did not go well) 😂

- This week I took a wild approach to selecting my project elements: Instead of the usual, I put it all in the hands of a spinning wheel. And there was only one rule - whatever it landed on, I had to create it!
Here's the breakdown...
I spun the wheel three times. First, for the hook size. Second, for the yarn. Third, for the project. It could've gone smoothly, but it took a hilariously unexpected turn.
Join me in this fun video documenting the whole adventure.

#BHooked #Crochet #CrochetTutorial - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Continue but divide it to 1-yarn type, 2-color, 3-what to crochet. Overall, I love this idea & video. You are talented to have made a scarf with T-shirt yarn & a 3.75mm hook. ❤
Personally, I would have made a "mesh" scarf. They were popular in the 60s and 70s. Double crochet, chain 3, skip 3, double crochet. It would have been lighter and airier, plus it would go faster and easier on your hands. Then, use it as a decorative table runner. Respect to you!
I agree, I kept thinking - make so chains and skip so it wouldn't be so stiff.
I just came here to say exactly this 😂
Again! Highly entertaining. Your very likable personality comes out so much in these types of videos and it's so great to see.
I appreciate this so much 🥰 I have to say, it's a lot more fun to make videos like this!
Definitely should do this again. Really enjoyed it
Loved it! I was thrilled with your tenacity!!! And it was REAL and HONEST, not put on like so many are. I would LOVE to see you do another one if you’re up to it.
This is a fun idea! Would love to see another one!
This was hilarious!😂 Not laughing at you but with you! Bless ur heart and your hands! 😢
At first I thought what a cool & gun idea….but then not so much with that combination! I would have prob cheated. 😂
You did great and better once you washed it. Thanks so much and I think you need to do the wheel again. Loved the video hon.
Have a great day!! 😊🧶🦋
I totally know what you mean! But I was definitely laughing at me every step of the way 🤣🤣
Love the idea of the wheel! Fun to see you experiment and get creative!
Hi Brittany. I have to give you credit for sticking it out. I feel for your hands, lol. It was fun though! I can’t wait to see what comes up next!🤗🤗
Thanks, Thea!! A little stubborn streak can do a project good sometimes 😂😂
It certainly can! I found your ideas very creative!❤️
This was such a fun video! I would love to see more like this in the future! I am a girl that really loves crochet vlogs, so anything like this is totally up my alley!! Thank you so much as always for sharing such amazing content!!🥰❤
I’m so glad you liked it!! I’m really having a blast with this new style of video💙
Happy Accident, its really cute on you. Great color too. Yes, do it again. The wheel is fun. 🎉
I LOOOVE this video! Yes please do more. I have hand issues so I'm not in danger of falling out of love with crochet. Too much pretty yarn for me to do that. Maybe a net type stitch and working it from bottom to top or visa versa would have made this lighter and a bit more drapey. Thanks for the fun!
I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! I had so much fun putting it together. Maybe the next time the wheel will be kinder to me 🤣
"Argh, this is awful!"
😂 This was hilarious!!
Ok that was hilarious. Bless you, I would never have done it. I would have said, well, theres a respin.
Loved the wheel spins! Want to see more!❤❤❤
Thanks for the belly laughs! That was fun and I am so impressed you stuck with it.
Loved it. I thought for sure you were going to have to give up with no fault of your own. Just the hook size with t shirt yarn seems impossible. You stick it out! I am impressed. Really enjoyed watching. I would definitely watch any future wheel experiments.
Definitely an impossible combination 😂 I'm really happy you enjoyed it though!!
This was so funny 😂
I would not be able to do this I have a long attention span and I would not have the patience😂❤ And I say definitely do this again
There are so many more combinations.
🤣 I'm so glad you liked it! Gives me an excuse to do it again 😂
Please do it again. This was fun to watch. I hope your hands have recovered.
They're all good! I think I'm going to have to do it again. It was too much fun 😂
Sorry it was so hard on you. But, it was definitely interesting to watch! Would love to see it again. :)
Definitely again! I was so entertaining, and I will try with my tshirt yarn and 3.75 mm hook
Love this idea, what a challenge!
A very entertaining video - I'd love to see another one.
I love the wheel idea. Would be interesting to continue the wheel and remove used options to end up eventually doing all options.
Cool idea!
This is a fun concept. Yes, keep the idea going and challenge yourself!
It was funny. I'm glad you didn't give up.
YES TO MORE WHEEL EPISODES 😁😁😁😁
I don't work with anything larger than a 4 weight because it hurts my hands. I admire you for trying & doing it!
Definitely fun! Good job stretching the project over several days to save your hands. No challenge is worth inflamed tendons.
You can say that again! Have fun, but know your limits...that was the name of the game 😆
I enjoyed the video. I was interested to see what you would do with it. I used to make skinny scarfs for my daughter-in-law, and she loved them. So, I think the skinny scarf is fine. I love your creativity. I would enjoy seeing more videos like this one. Thanks for doing it and following through with your idea even though it was not ideal. 😁💐
It was very funny and entertaining. I am glad it was you and not me. I would maybe choose the project, yarn and depending on the yarn then choose hook sizes, but start maybe 3 sizes smaller than the yarn says and go from there. That way you don't injure your hands.
This was fun. Please keep the wheel going
I love the video! Fun 😅
I thought this video was fun. Keep the wheel. It'll be fun to watch.
You gave it a good try. I’ve never bought tshirt yarn and don’t think I ever will. Keep it going.
Please keep doing this!
Thanks for this!!! 🥰 It was fun, but I kept thinking I would have done something in a mesh pattern so the scarf wouldn't be so stiff. I would love to see you try it again, but maybe narrow your parameters??? (I so admire your tenacity!)
How funny! I would have made it flowy with lots of chains and skipped stitches. Good job though. And washing the yarn was such a smart move.
Intro intrigued me.. I immediately felt sad for you, I'd defiantly remove some yarn choices off the wheel LOL LOL for sure Tshirt and Scrubby
Can you imagine a scrubby scarf?! That would have been just as bad as the t-shirt yarn 😂
This was fun! Thank you!🤣 Gratz! That can be your, I'm so stubborn scarf!
😂😂 For sure! I was definitely too stubborn to quit 🤣
I love the idea and applaud your efforts to stay true to the rules. I would have used a much more open stitch pattern to make it more drapey. I’d love to see you do this again. Where did you get the wheel? I’d put a bunch of colors on it and spin to determine the order I have to use them. So many fun ways to use the wheel ❤
That’s a great idea too! I found this on Amazon, actually!
I loved it and thought it was a blast!! Again again! 😁 maybe you could turn it into a garland of some sort 😁
Could have done a mesh scarf or used doily thread around the t-shirt yarn using the smaller hook.... technically still using all elements (just an added forth element to make it work better)
😂 I'm laughing but crying for you at the same time. The wheel reminds me of what I did to make scrapgham squares to make afghans to donate. I mumberes all my 12 inch squares then I'd as one of my kids to pick a number between 1 and whatever then I'd grab the pattern and give them a number choice for colors, then say they picked 3, then I'd get them to pick 3 colors from my stash to make it. Sometimes id even tell them either joy or girl patterns. My kids are now 33, 30 and 26 and they still enjoy doing this but they tell me the colors then I show them what I picked and they ok it or tell me no a darker, or lighter. I like your wheel idea. Id like to see it again
What a fun idea for making scrapghan squares! Love it! 😄
Funny and interesting. 😂😂😂😂😂
Do another one. This was funny.
Enjoyed 😅
I stopped before the 3rd spin to say - YIKES, t-shirt yarn with a 3.75mm hook??? - oh nooooo!!!
OK, now for the 3rd spin... I'm almost too afraid to look...
OMG... I couldn't resist. Oh NOOOO.
You know what you could have done?!... cut the yarn strand in half!!! Who said you CAN'T do that??? 😂😂😂
You could have also gone for a more open "lacy" stitch involving more holes.
It's very entertaining for sure😂😂😂
Love the wheel! Do it again!
puit that on the blooper lollllll
Excellent videos, really enjoyed both this one and the one that comes next. Its scary to do something unknown and risky. Do I think you should do the wheel again? absolutely, and I will watch and enjoy the trip with you. Thank you
Thank you so much! After 10 years of tutorials I wasn’t sure how this new style would be received, but I’m really happy to hear that you like it! 💙
Lol.......always a good idea to look at ourselves from a slightly different perspective!! Donate! It's cute!
I think it is a fun idea. That is how things get created by accident. The scarf isn't bad just a bit skinny. LOL
haha true! I really needed about two more rolls. or I should have frogged it when I realized I only had enough for four rows. I just couldn't bring myself to do it 😂
That was interesting 🤔 😂 eeek 😦
Barbie scarf ftw 😅😅😅😆😆 is that a cheat? Haha. Love it tho. So fun.
haha four stitches and done!! I like how you think 😂
Omgsh!! Tshirt yarn is THE ABSO WORST!!! I don’t have the exact hook size, but it is just awful with ANY hook size, imo. Lol. What a FUN video! I hope you try something like this again! Maybe even a kind of mash up with ami parts? Just a thought. Regardless, thank you for another great video! Hugs from Columbus ☺️🫶🏻🧶 xx- Lisa
Oh my gosh, an ami part mash up would be HILARIOUS! 😂
Yes, so it again! There's no way the second (or third, or fourth 😂) can be as difficult as that challenge was! And, it's stretching your creativity, who knows what pattern designs might come from it!
I enjoyed this! I think it was a fun experiment. Please do it again!!! By the way, could I crochet a basket out of T-shirt yarn? If so, what size hook would you use? Thank you!!! I’m a new subscriber today!
T-shirt yarn is my favorite for baskets actually! I’d probably start experimenting with an 8mm hook, see how that works up, and make adjustments if needed.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and welcome! 💙
Yeah mesh would have been the way to go there. Interesting experiment though
Make it a very "lacy" skinny scarf?
How is this even possible 😂😂😂😂
🤣 I don't even know! A good sense of humor and a stubborn streak I guess 🤷♀️ 😂😂
I would suggest you leave one variable open to your interpretation such as hook size or yarn size. That way you have a chance at success. What a fun idea!🎉😂
Definitely noted! Although there's something really intriguing about not knowing....🤣
I tried it for a blanket. It ended as a bath mat. I just couldn't further. 😂
I thought that it was a good idea. It gets you out of your comfort zone.
please do this again
you could try a table scarf (aka table runner). ???!!!??? Good luck. You could always respin the wheel.
I say add lights to it for Christmas and put around the tree or other item in the house or a bush outside, but yes funny to think about but feel sorry for you having to hurt your hands..😢. Maybe have some if’s on the hook spin…. If yarn is size 1-3 use hook size …. If yarn size is 4-5 use hook size …. If ……
My hands are definitely liking this idea 😁
Would it be cheating to tailor the wheel to the right yarn weight after the hook size is determined?
This could be alot of fun, but I would leave out crochet hook size from the spin. Instead do one for yarn type, project type, maybe add one for embellishments you have (like decorative yarn, charms, beads, pom poms, tassels...), and one for Inspiration or theme (ex: boho, travel/destination, color scheme....). This will give you more flexibility and allow you to be more creative.
helpful? maybe as in the "dont do what i did" way possibly 😂😂 entertaining yes. it looks kinda cool as an accessory piece. looks like something for the runway
Haha....yeah, I can see that! Definitely don't recommend this combo for anyone 🤣 But glad you found it entertaining!
I probably would have used the 3.75 hook for border only, is that cheating ❓didn't see any rule that size hook needed to be used for the whole project, u can only do your best, I would give the wheel a little more thought, glad u had fun , have a great day
Very interesting! You don’t a great job! Maybe a different style more airy like a granny square like?
Do it again. Maybe instead of just one size hook per space, you could put a range of hooks.
Do it again!
😂😂😂
next time try different yarns that would work with the hook that was chosen
Make it shorter. Go 3 or 4 rows and call it a waist scarf❤
😅😀💪💃👊💥
Apologies but I would have done a hard pass on this combination. 😵💫
Why don’t you just make a scarf for a doll. It doesn’t say it has to be a scarf for a person right? Just a thought.
VERY good point 😂 Honestly, never crossed my mind.
Don't do it lol lol
