Terrible start but great way to finish. Bird was the man. Greatest SF ever, probably greatest ever when the game was on the line and with no doubt one of the 5 greatest players ever.
The thing about this 3 point contest that I really love is the whole story that Bird wasn't even trying and he set up the score just to win in dramatic fashion
@@joehalili8468 First off, shooting 40% from 3pt is pretty good even today. A significant number of Bird's 3's were contested shots and last-second heaves from half court. He only took around 2.5 3pt shots per game for the bulk of his career, and usually one of those was a last second heave to end a quarter, and another was him throwing up some junk with 2 or 3 guys in his face. And his avg was still 40%. By comparison, Lillard avgs 40% today and while he certainly shows his range, he also takes 9 attempts a game and most of them aren't deep or contested. The 43% Lillard shoots when wide open helps offset the 35% he shoots when he's actually somewhat covered, and/or when the clock is running down.
I remember Bird coaching the Pacers in a playoff game against Jordan's Bulls,I believe.Reggie Miller took the last shot,an unbelievable basket he made ,(everybody knew Reggie would take it).the camera showed Larry before, during and after the shot--he never changed expression -.guy had an assassin's mentality, even as a coach...
Being from the Boston area, it's almost impossible not to be into at least one sport, so many legends have played here. Regardless of the sport we have phenomenal history.
Maybe not the greatest of all time but the best shooter I ever saw all around. Three pointers, left handed hook from the foul line, changing the arc of a shot to keep from blocks when a center was in front of him, I've seen him do it all. Michael Cooper once guarded him so close he was almost in Larry's shorts, and Bird still did an amazing turn around jumper tear drop that swished. Unbelievable.
Declaring his win even before the shot went in. Damn.

3:56 is Badass.
Man, shooters are so much better now then back then.
Bird was just one of those players who played the game from the neck up. Wasn't the most athletic guy, or talented guy. He was just very smart, and knew how the game needed to be played. Tremendous heart.
IMO, still....still one of the top 6 or 7 best players ever.
+WayneP117 Larry Bird wasn't talented? Lol... he was pure talent...
+OneHundredPoints yes but he didn't have the ability to be athletic or physical due to his body
Lone Legend
He wasn't athetic, but he was extremely talented and he had a very hig basketball IQ.
+OneHundredPoints exactly!
second or third imo
No había entrado el balón y ya levantaba el dedo en señal de victoria. Todo un crack, el mejor. No ha nacido nadie con su talento y visión de juego. Antes ni después que la leyenda.
Bird, trolling before trolling was invented.
Never took his warm-up jacket off, lol.
Bird gets calmers the higher the pressure, he literally is worse when there is no pressure and then when he has to make it he pretty much knows hes going to make the shot.
When the guy doesn't even take off his warmup jacket, you know he's got this!!!!
Terrible start but great way to finish.
Bird was the man. Greatest SF ever, probably greatest ever when the game was on the line and with no doubt one of the 5 greatest players ever.
Dude he was trolling. He deliberately missed all these shots just to make it harder. lmao
Absolutely love his form. Looks effortless
4:20 "ice water in his veins" just like d'lo
Dale Ellis fucked up when he chose to go 1st.
Yep bird has clutch genes
Larry was always clutch anytime on the court. Fine clip here 🔥
They had really awesome music in the 80's and just listen to the track in the background, while throwing the balls lol
Friedrich Faustus what’s the name of the song?
@dantin Morgan "Shakedown" by Bob Seger
Larry Bird is the best shooter of all time.
You re jokink right???
Gonçalo Mendonça No. I'm very serious.
Kaleb DeGroot YEah sure forget about steph curry, the best shooter ever...Smh
Gonçalo Mendonça Stephs career isnt over. How can he be the best shooter ever?
Of course he can, hy does the best shooter has to be retired, that makes no sense
Good damn the NBA was more exciting back then with the regular season and especially the All Star Weekend
With the legend that Bird is, you wonder whether he missed some shots on purpose to ice Ellis with the last one.
I wonder if he side. Honestly seems like he did imo
The thing about this 3 point contest that I really love is the whole story that Bird wasn't even trying and he set up the score just to win in dramatic fashion
+Exequelley not likely
Legend do exist
Best 3 Point shooter ever Larry Bird
***** you think Stojakovic Peja
Mladen Milovanovic Ne budi glup.
***** he has the most 3s not the most efficiency
***** larry freaking legend!! Don't forget that, son.
Larry made less than 40% of his three pointers, there are a number of players who are above that for their careers

What a player! Awesome competitor! What a moment!
one of the best shooters ever.
Robert Swift overrated in shooting if u see his percentage u'll know what I'm talking about and how many threes he made his whole career
+Joe Halili when he was in the league the three was a novelty he's easily top 3 shooters ever behind curry and Allen imo
Joe Halili
sorry joe but overrated and larry bird dont even belong in the same sentence, ask anyone..lmao@ overrated smh
I've never seen Craig wear a normal suit.
Volcomintality rip Craig 😢

I remember watching it live. Legend
Bird, present day could probably beat 99% of all human beings in a game of horse.
@Ta-Kuan Fuan Just because the media hypes them up as such that doesn't make it true. Watch Robert Horry, Toni Kukoc, Larry Bird, and Pete Maravich.
@@JoRgEChavez-to2xd steph is objectively the best shooter of all time
That still leaves like 8 million people. I think it's more like 99.999999% of people
I remember Bird coaching the Pacers in a playoff game against Jordan's Bulls,I believe.Reggie Miller took the last shot,an unbelievable basket he made ,(everybody knew Reggie would take it).the camera showed Larry before, during and after the shot--he never changed expression -.guy had an assassin's mentality, even as a coach...
Jordan wasnt coach of Bulls, phil jackson was.
@@ciosy3135 no I think OP knows that
Being from the Boston area, it's almost impossible not to be into at least one sport, so many legends have played here. Regardless of the sport we have phenomenal history.
Ellis be like...
Fucking money ball.
no .... just no
+Drew Stringer ok
+Drew Stringer L
There was no way Dale Ellis was going to let Bird go first. Can you imagine the pressure coming behind him. Shooters shoot, one of the GOATs.
I remember watching this live. Even I was hoopin and hollering. What a finish it was!
legend had it that he hit them all.
He missed the first few racks to make it more interesting. He was a showman.
This dude has his warm ups on...what a GOAT
Because I don't give a single shit. Warm ups? Who fucking cares. Get off my court. I'm Larry Fucking Legend.
Curry is the best shooter of all time
@@ajayyxo maybe so but nobody is ever taking curry over bird
