Now that you ask, Midnight Club: Los Angeles is "okay", It suffers from some graphical glitches, but it's pure Rockstar. My personal favorite would have to be, Motorstorm: Artic Edge. The controls are pretty easy and the environments look really nice, And I love the vehicle design. Need for Speed is a great racing series, I think the best would be NFS III: Hot Pursuit. The PSP titles have never lived up to the console games, but the ones that's a little better would be Underground: Rivals&Carbon
Superb review. It was because of this video I bought G.T for my PSP, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Super game and surprisingly good looking for a handheld game.
Those wishing to learn a great tip for earning in game money should buy the Honda NSX Type R '92 at the earliest opportunity and use that on the oval speedway test track to earn money to spend on other cars for racing. I am earning 210,000 credits per 4 lap race in just under 10 minutes. It outshines the competition and is superb
One of my favorite cars on that game and IRL by far.
+Wayne Ashworth you can earn 300,000 for 4 laps on S rank at the test course if you do 2 races with 2 laps, not one race with 4 laps

Is a great series. Just wished it was on the Vita..but well we all know the Vita is done for.
It is available for purchase on the PS Vira store and you can always ad it on to the PS Vita if you have a modded PS Vita.
Awesome review, I make it a point to have every GT game ever made and play them all regularly to keep myself sane.
1) Nissan GT-R is fast as hell. Faster around a track and faster 0-60 than the Ferrari Enzo.
2) Acura NSX being faster: Either the difficulty is dumbed down, or the NSX is seriously tuned up.
At 88mph, that DeLorean should have burned up in a sheet of white light and the screen should have warped to a version of the track in 1955, or maybe even 2015!

I won't buy a Vita until this comes out for it. No point. I go where the best games are, it's common sense.
Those twisty Corsican tracks from GT4 made it in here, and they are tremendous to drive round, especially on the sim mode handling. You can definitely prove your chops on this game.
IGN said this game has no "content" i played this for 3 years non stop with my psp, the arcade mode has infinite replay value, the only thing holding this game down is the system, and i can't wait for GT PS Vita
Nice review. They should've made it so when the Delorean reaches 88 mph, it sends you to the last lap and puts you in 1st.
The fact that there is an in-car view on a psp game is pretty awesome..I only just got into racing games with GRID and DiRT 1/2 but I only race in the in-car view. Will definitely give this a look. Great review as always by CGR.
Subaru impreza wrx and chevrolet camaro esi 97 are good cars to me which i bought in the game it was a cool time in the time trials mode spinning around so i could learn to drive when i get older :)

No McLarens, but there's an SLR McLaren, which is a Mercedes-Benz exotic.

What makes GT PSP bad?

Isn't anyone else annoyed by the graphic glitching in this game? It appears as lines of dots at random parts. Sometimes it's hard to ignore. See 0:42 and many other parts too. It reminds of what could be seen on many first generation PSX games. Namco actually addressed this particular glitch and even fixed it (as well as doubling it's frame rate to 60fps) on the bonus disc included with Rage Racer for the Playstation 1. It seems weird for a high profile game like this to include such glitches!
This is a rather good driving game, but I didnt like the way you raced and the way you bought cars. If they had just re-released Gran Turismo 1 or 2 onto the PSP then that would have, in my opinion, been better. But this was still not a waste of money!

reminding me how many tracks aren't in gran turismo 5
and how many new tracks they added in gt5 which suck compared to similar old ones
why couldnt they add apricot hill, midfield, el capitan, twin ring motegi road course, seattle, red rock, grindewald, hong kong, grand canyon, and others and just leave out madrid and the new rome course but maybe not the new swiss one... it has a cool pit stop
How long is the loading time? Surely this game takes some patience when approaching races with all that amount of cars and tracks and graphics embedded in this game in the PSP.
How surprising that this game has shorter loading time than other GT games comparing this GT from GT5P i call this better in amount of cars and loading time. THANKS!
it takes 2 race days to change available car manufacturers. it has a nice selection,but the algorithm isnt really that good. on several ocations i had worked my ass off to get enough money for a good,expensive car and got Mitsubishi,Mazda,Nissan and Mini several times in different order.
@AndyVoong925 Good news: there's going to be a Rome circuit in GT5! Bad news: it's a completely new one.
I agree that they should've included the Special Stages, since those were some of my favorite GT tracks of all time, and Clubman Stage as well.
Perhaps they should make a PSP or PS Vita Gran Turismo Demolition Derby where the cars show damage and their performance can be ruined by damage.
But to see such beautiful cars getting smashed up may make you weep.
Yes, but for a franchise that puts such emphasis and detail into their graphics to have PSX polygon type glitching seemed strange to me.

Why did this take so long to be released? wasn't it supposed to come out about 3 years ago? It's not surprising, polyphony digital always delay their titles, but 3 years, wtf!?

Here's something I want... I had no plans in getting this before this review..... I'll pick it up with GT5 next year, so that I don't spoil my hype.
You don't care about drifting? How are you ever going to get to hang out with Bow Wow and Vin Diesel and make the coolest races if you don't drift??
What happened to the night tracks???? The Clubman cup stage 5, 11 Clubman Special Stage 11, Rome Circuit Night??
The bad thing is that unfortunately there are only single races and that after a while you get bored :(.
I did consider getting a go but you don't get this game, I cant afford the $250 price tag, and I just like the UMD format.
I congratulate PD for their effort of transplanting the GT universe into the portable console market and they've done it 90% to my satisfaction. There is one snagging detail that makes the game almost unplayable for me. It's the random manufacturers on different days. "yes!" you think "I finally have the credits to buy X car!, but do i wait until it comes up randomly or blow the cash now on something that costs the same?" It's very frustrating coz waiting could take weeks if not months!
Like Robotfabio says, my Trueno can drift on a track, but it will never give the same thrills a Ferrari can for example, so yes I do expect them to do it amazingly realistic, so I can experience driving a car I would otherwise never get. I'll give Forza this, it is for sure the funner game for casual gamers. But for people like me, who really want to drive fast exotic cars, nothing comes closer than Gran Turismo.
Really? Is that honestly your opinion? Have you never driven a car around a track in your life or something? I tried driving my Trueno in Forza 1 and 2 when I got it, turned off all aids, and it's a piece of sh** physics engine. Granted it's got realistic aspects, but it is by far not a real simulation game. Try correcting your drift with a real car like you do in Forza 2, or 3 if you've been at any cons lately. I'll tell you what happens, spin-out and embarrasement.

I totally agree there. What's also disappointing is how much of the tracks in GT5 are just bigger tracks that were taken part by part, or added weather effects or chicanes, and somehow that magically makes it a new track. I found myself wishing they brought back those old ones too, because as there is there really isn't enough for a Gran Turismo game.
yo, number one, i've never in my life bought a gran tourismo game. EVER. how ever i am a die hard forza game and i actually pre-ordered forza 1 when it first came out. i have all that are out and i prefer forza i'm just saying that after like what 5 years GT5 better be fucking skullfucking me or it'll totaly be the last straw for my thoughts on the GT series.
The Lancia DELTA HF is the best car in the game! :D Try drive a snow track with it....You're gonna pwn :D
Gran Turismo on the PSP is an awesome game. I did not mind the new method of obtaining cars and racing menus. However they should have brought back some of the classic stages like Smokey Mountain, Special Stage Route 5 and 11, and Rome Colosseum circuit for Gran Turismo PSP.
@light4misa i'm not sure if it's a set time or the "compete a race thing" i've completed a race to find the game has advanced a day, but have also been on a long race where the game has advanced several..... My guess is that it's a set amount of time like a half and hour or an hour
I WANT THIS GAME 4 CHRISTMAS!!! It's on GamePro's christmas gift guide when it displays 5 must-have holiday titles, although on that same magazine, it was given 3 out of 5 stars based on it's "fun factor," or in other rating terms, 6 out of 10.

I'm such a loyal GT fan but I remember playing GT3(when new) at a buddies house for weeks and wasn't impressed, so I stuck with GT2 until GT4 came out. And as he said, they should have had a GT5 ready at least sometime soon after PS3 was released, it's been way too long.
same i have 2 aspects to car games, not only do i love racing (alot) but i also love customising the cars, I hate arcade racers but the customisation is great. I mean only game thats done it upuntill shift is forza.. i still love gran torismo because its just so fun racing
A Delorean!? NO WAY! BTTF is my favorite movie trilogy of all time. Now that's a great reason to get this game.. if you can't own the car in real life.. may as well get the next best thing!! Just not the same without the fire trails and time travel booms though.
dirt sucks i didn't understand what was going on and you had to start turning a mile before the turn if you didn't want to get totaled. And sometimes the other cars get a 1 minute head start which i didn't understand "get first in this race with all the other card already a lap ahead of you"

it's awesome that sony sends you a free download of this 'amazing` title. anywayz... like the guy that i'm replying to said. it isn't that good but if you have a normal psp it's worth rnting
actually, its called "football" not soccer. look it up, it was originally called football untill some people used the acronym SOCCER which was to some point or something. but the game, its called football.

To make a crapload of money, just by a medium to nice car, then go to driving park test course and put the laps to 99.
Then play a lot, or whoever you want and when Ur finished if you get first place, then u get 500,000 or more!
I have all 4 playstation systems and have never tried GT! But I have both xbox systems and have all forza's.
I am totally psyched to get this for my psp!

One question. The clock on the bottom right screen. Is that the time on your psp. Because if it is then it's great. Then i never have to press the Ps button to see what time it is :)

nrrrrw... you mean the nurburgring ? i was there this summer for Formula 1, it was kinda fun, but not worth the 300km drive... and the 200euro tickets... luckily i won them...
i wouldn't expect forza 3 to be as perfect to gt5. cause forza made 3 games in the time it took them to make 1. so gt was making big advances and forza was making little tiny ones.

800 cars of awesome, including Ferraris. Hitting 88 on the DMC DeLorean S2 will destroy you. Driving over Yoshi with a Range Rover is awesome! I would buy that as well!
Their car was faster. Thats all. Everything else you commented on was just your skill (try practicing more. Racing on the dirt is not the same as racing on the street).
There is a way, i`m playing it on my PSP 3004 with FW 5.03.
But it involves some work...
we totally drink too much tea. lets face it fellas, ain't no two ways about that one.
Biggest con - no online play. Also, no 'career mode'. Also, too many variants of cars (like Hondas and Toyotas); more different cars would've been better.
Personally i think this looks an exelent game to play, especially for a handheld.
right when the game was launched where i live, i bought for 40€. most stupid choice of my life, because 3months later i found it for 9€
Quite on the contrary. Loading time can be compared with GT4 for PS2,which is very short,an amazing achievement by Polyphony Digital.

Well GT PSP came out on the 1st october, Forza 3 came out 22 Oct in Japan in that logic Forza copied GT.
I think I may buy this to keep me occupied until GT5 comes out.
excuse me? Gran Turismo 4 has been out way longer than Forza 3. GT PSP is pretty much a port from GT4
you've forgot to mention that you already get a Alfa romeo 147 as starting car without purchasing it
