    I agree you have to come back again another time, please you have to do justice to the city a lil better, these shots are beautiful but seems like you only saw the tip of what Monterrey really is, it’s like making a video about CDMX and just walking around Coyoacan without showing Santa Fe or Polanco, or a video about NY just showing queens, but not showing Manhattan, I know it must be hard to stay several days because it’s really expensive here but I really really hope you guys can come back another time and at least drive around in an uber to kinda see other parts of the city , nevertheless I think you guys are doing a great job all over Mexico showcasing its wonders and your shots are beautiful, you started your channel only as a hobby of the memories and ended up with professional looking videos that get us all hooked on to know more about 🇲🇽 I get to know my own country through you guys so I can’t thank you enough for that

    As a regio, and person who use to work on tourism in Monterrey, I have to say that we don't have a lot of tourist attractions, city downtown is not the prettiest, in Monterrey you have to have a way to transport to enjoy the city at it's peak. I recomend taking the "touribus" right on the side of macro plaza, wich cost $30 pesos, at gives you a tour around the city, and see where you like the best (you can get in and off as much as you want), and a must go without going outside the city is chipinque natural park, climb up the mountain and enjoy the view, you can see the while city from there, and go to obispado. its a national flag park, and don't dare to go bacj home without eating cabrito or carne asada!

    • @kinetickennons
      @kinetickennons  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never saw that turibus. Something like that would have been perfect. Since most tourists and travelers don't have a cars that would make it so much easier to enjoy the city. We are used to places that we can walk everywhere to anything and everything so MTY was tough for us.

    • @azaelleal5156
      @azaelleal5156 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Nava thats because we are industrial City but thank God we have natural places like chipinque , la silla la huasteca and allende and those rural places that are veeery awesome

    The best part of Monterrey is the surrounding areas!! The landscape is breathtaking❤️ the city is cool but not my thing, too industrial, yesterday I said modern but industrial is more the word I was looking for.. it’s a cool city by all mean just doesn’t have the charm of other cities in Mexico in my opinion.. the natural beauty around Monterrey though is top notch, I love nature, it’s hot ass hell in the summer though!! I can’t pick between hot or cold, I’m lucky enough to live in a part of California where the weather is mild most of the year. Lowest it gets and that’s a few day a year is 30-32F and the hottest is in the low 90s and I can count the number of day in gets into the 90s in one hand most of the time a really hot day is in the 80s and most days of the year it’s in the mid 60s to mid 70sF. I do want do explore the natural beauty of Monterrey more though, oh and there’s some beautiful women there😍 thank you for showing us Monterrey. Oh that Park you went too is awesome! I’ll have to check it out if I ever visit Monterrey again

    • @kinetickennons
      @kinetickennons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I def think industrial seems more accurate than modern for sure. We didn't get the chance to explore the areas outside of MTY, I didn't realize so many of the things to see and do are outside of the city :/

    • @aldosoberon
      @aldosoberon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The modern part of Monterrey is outside the centro. Thats why you guys didnt see why people sees MTY as a modern city. This is one of the few cities of México where the centro is not the most turistic área. I can see why you guys were so confused during your stay in Monterrey.

    Hola Hillary and Greg,
    First off we absolutely love your vlogs. Started by watching you in PV as we have gone there 13 times in 15 years and stay in the
    Romantic zone. Always said that I would never travel to the same place twice but PV has the glue that just keeps taking you back.
    As shown in your vlogs it’s about the people, they are so friendly, happy and accommodating. Then there is the 🌮🍮🍦food,
    the fresh 🍓🥒 fruits, the weather, drinks 🍻 and just the easy day to day living. So much to do during the day, evening and 💃🏾 night.
    We have a friend who takes us up river, go South by bus or take a water taxi to Yelapa for the day. Also have rented a car and headed
    North to various towns and villages.
    When you left PV you introduced us to some of the rest of Mexico. Beautiful, wonderful, educational, funny (Hillary) ... and you Greg,
    It has shown us that we should have and probably still will, explore more of Mexico. My wife is 76 and I’m 67 and we now go to PV for
    a month to six weeks. My question to you both is, which city or town would you suggest that we could spend a month in that further
    lets us experience the Mexican culture.
    Again, thanks and keep up the wonderful vlogs.😘

    Another interesting fact about the Fundidora is that it was a working steel mill in the U.S. in 1879. After the Americans thought it was used up, it was purchased by Mexico, dismantled, shipped on trains and brought to Monterrey where it was reassembled and used for another 80 plus years.

    One of the neat things about Monterrey are its mountains. You have Topo Chico to the north, El Cerro de la Mitras to the west, El Cerro de la Silla to the east, and Chipinque to the south. You also have Loma Larga and El Cerro del Obispado right in the middle of the city with awesome views. Chipinque is a huge natural park that ends in a coniferous forest at the top with cool weather, well worth the visit and Cerro del Obispado has a museum that was a battle site and farther up a huge flag surrounded by all of the historical flags of Mexico. You guys need to go back and stay a couple of weeks.

    The fundidora was really important for Monterrey simply because it represented a lot for the industrial growth of the city in the 1850>>1930, its so important for the regios that we converted that space into fundidora park, also the glass, the steel and the concrete industries transformed Monterrey from a lil villa in middle of the Northeast to the modern city that is nowadays, its so important that in architectural topics we call a "regiomontano style" to the big buildings built in those 3 materials if you put close attention to it you will notice in the big buildings in the downtown and valle oriente district. (sorry my bad spelling inenglish)

  • @PedroGarzaT

    There used to be an actual river there, which prompted the city´s foundation. It eventually dried up. But the water was underground. The Paseo´s water is being pumped out from nearby subway stations. As you can see, we regios are obssesed with fountains.

I hope yall were able to see the "barrio antiguo" such a great place to take pic cause it looks like your back in time.

I actually went through a couple of those places myself with my family on the very same days you did so we might as well have run into each other. Good luck on your next destination :)

    It is good to see you in my home town. I'v been in Germany almost 20 years, but still miss MTY. It is a diferent kind of town, not necesarely turisty like others in Mexico, but probably the most important city in many regards in Mexico. Enjoy!

      A. C. Galarza, really the most important city in Mexico? Tell about that! I'm dying to know. Because it is not the biggest city in Mexico, it doesn't bring the biggest rate of the total GDP of the whole country, it doesn't have the highest income per capital (this is now in Querétaro). It is not safest city in Mexico (Mérida is). So tell me about your statement!!

    • @van2537
      @van2537 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      you got hella trigger there buddy.
      but if u really wanna go down the road
      if you want to compare a 20 million people city against a 4 million then we gotta adjust.
      Mexico city has a USD 411 billion GDP - 20million people
      Monterrey has a USD 142 billion GDP - 4 million people
      Mexico city produces an average of 82 billion per 4 million residents.
      that is 44% less than MTY
      GDP adjusted per capita is considerably higher than the rest of the country's at around US$35,500 to the country's US$18,800.
      Monterrey is home to the biggest transnational companies like
      Grupo Avante, Lanix Electronics, Ocresa, CEMEX, Vitro, OXXO, [FEMSA] DINA S.A., Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery, and Grupo ALFA.[10][11] Monterrey is also home to international companies such as Siemens, Accenture, Ternium, Sony, Toshiba, Carrier, Whirlpool, Samsung, Toyota, Babcock & Wilcox, Daewoo, British American Tobacco, Nokia, Dell, Boeing, HTC, General Electric, Johnson Controls, Gamesa, LG, SAS Institute, Grundfos, Danfoss, Qualfon and Teleperformance and many more.
      it is indeed one of the most important cities in many regards like the other comment said.
      ( which it never claim to be the most important overall)
      its always been known that
      Mexico city: is the most important city for political matters
      Guadalajara: is the most important for traditions.
      and Monterrey: is the most important for finances.
      known also as the industrial capital of Mexico.
      Rich in history and culture, Monterrey is one of the most developed cities in Mexico.

      【VAN】 where do you get your numbers pal? Let's start breaking your numbers down shall we? To start the population of Mexico City is only 8.5 millions. I don't know where you got 20 millions. If you want if you want to include the metropolitan area of Mexico City then you might get to 20 millions but I must tell you that the official number of inhabitants is less than 9 millions. According to your numbers Mexico City GDP is 411 billions with 8.5 m and Monterrey is 142 billions with 4m. By the correct numbers Monterrey only produces 73% of Mexico City's GDP per million. So what you claimed is wrong and inaccurate. You see this happens for the lack of education and lack of interest in learning about Mexico as a whole.
      I don't know where you get your numbers but the average salary in Querétaro is us$41,346 vs us$35,500 of Monterrey. So tell what number is higher? Hope you can do that pal!
      About Monterrey home to the the biggest transnational. Vitro is not as big a you think. Cuauhtémoc moctezuma was sold to Heineken a few years ago so they are managed from somewhere in holland! I know this one it even hurt my feelings! Grupo alfa well let's just say that they are managed by coward guy who left Monterrey and now runs grupo Alfa from Madrid yes this is right that bastard left Mexico putting as excuse his safety. He runs the operations of grupo Alfa in Mexico as well as all the international operations. So I can keep on going. The only two companies that I can confirm are cemex and femsa. Also most of the international companies that you mentioned are not only in Monterrey they have offices, laboratories, factories and some have their headquarters all over Mexico. Do you really want me to mention where their headquarters of the international companies that you mentioned are in Mexico? I'll give you the first that you mentioned Siemens according to the official site the Siemens mexico headquarters are in Mexico City. I can go on and.,,
      Let's move on with your inaccurate info. You didn't claim that Monterrey is probably the most important city in many regards. Of course, you didn't it was the other guy who I directed my comment to. I don't know why you jumped in but anyhow you are an easy prey.
      You said Monterrey is the most important for finances, known also as the industrial capital of Mexico.
      The above statement is wrong. According to the official information from the federal government Mexico City is Latin American's financial center and it is Mexico's political, economic and cultural capital. No Monterrey no Guadalajara!
      I am bored I have to get up early tomorrow. Bye educate yourself and I invite you to leave Monterrey and live in a different city in Mexico. Monterrey is only coco washing people!!!!

    Hey guys, I recommend visiting my hometown Cuernavaca, Morelos for a nice and warm weekend getaway only 45 minutes away from the capital city! You should stay at Las Mañanitas (which is a restaurant too), grab something to eat at Casa Hidalgo or El Madrigal, take a stroll in the newly renovated Zócalo and go shopping to one of the newest malls here, Averanda. If you guys do decide to come, don’t hesitate visiting a very popular “pueblo mágico”, Tepoztlán, which is roughly half an hour away from Cuernavaca. There, you should really eat at El Ciruelo, which has amazing views and enjoy a delicious “Tepoznieves” ice cream while wandering around at the popular Sunday market on the main street. Hopefully you make it, keep enjoying Mexico!

    great video guys !! Monterrey is my hometown, you just visit a very small part of the city! haha
    You miss a whole lot of nice places to visit (where the regios really gather) and the best views of the city like "The Obispado hill" with one of the oldest building in the city (Ex bishop summer palace) and the best view of a sunset in the city, the financial and modern high rise district of Valle Oriente and Campestre (kind of like Santa fe in CDMX) and the nature surrounding the city (Chipinque Forest, La Estazuela springs, Cola de caballo Waterfall, the rocky formations of La Huasteca, etc.).
    i hope you had a great time and wish to come back soon !
