- This classic 1957 Chevy was parked due to a small collision in 1984... and it hasn't moved since! Today I will bring it home and see if we can get her running again... Buckle in for today's adventure!
Your impeccable luck with finding and then with little effort make run again is just crazy. I am happy for you and hope you do the right thing on fixing the rust issues.... or someone who buys it will.
Amazing 👏 🎉
I was thinking the exact same thing.
judging by how the trunk and engine bay looked this is a decent car, i expected a lot worse!
usually a car filled with parts is a bad sign, but this one was filled with goodies.
im very curious as to what he payed, this could be a worthwhile investment for sure!
Are you selling it
Yeah I really hope someone who wants to restore it buys this one!
Would love to see it back to blue
That is my favourite car. I was 15 when it was built. I’m 81 now. I loved hearing it start. Beautiful. I hope you can get it back to the original colour of blue
Alex, we love seeing your kids work along side you! You have good kids. ❤
In that Way Alex have 3 hands😅
I was just thinking the same thing. What great moments that you all will cherish as your children become adults and parents one day all of you will be able to look back at these quality bonding moments. It just makes me smile😍
I’m so happy she started
How exciting to rescue this classic!
Alexander you're the Fairy Godfather of rescued vintage vehicles and I'm looking forward to see what your magic wand will turn this in to.
In 1956 our neighbor bought a brand new 56 Chevrolet. I was 8yrs. old and have wanted one of them ever since. In Seattle, 1980 we saw a 1957 chevy convertible for sale on a used car lot that sold old chevy's. It was a beautiful robin's egg blue and was selling for $13,000. Can't imagine what it would be going for today.
Watching Alex cleaning up the car was somehow fairly satisfying.
except i always seem to be eating when he does. hahahaha
Love this car. Can’t wait to see it restored ❤
Well Alex, this 61 year old Nana really enjoyed this video lol. Hey, I enjoy all your videos, but I found this one really special and I love it when you take these old, beautiful classics, and return them to their former glory. I would’ve been afraid that many people would’ve scrapped the car and sold it for parts to people trying to replace pieces for their car like this. But you took this piece of rusted Mossey mouse infested hunk of metal and in two days you got other people dreaming of it. I can’t wait to see future updates of you restoring this beautiful beautiful classic❤
looks amazing going to be interesting to see what you do with it ❤🏴
i do like much when you buy a classic , i am a fan of these ...
Great to see you rescue an “eyesore” and make it somewhat more attractive again!
My neighbor had one of these cars in the 50s. He kept it shiny as a new penny. I hope you restore the blue color….thanks for great video.
I'm sure the neighbors of the previous owners are super happy that you bought that mossy old eyesore, Alex. Great work getting it running so quickly!
Thank you for sharing. This has to be one of my favorites videos! A true diamond in the rough so exciting to hear it stat right up😊🎉.
So funny seeing the squirrel!! Never a dull moment on your channel!!! 🥰🥰🥰
What a reservoir of knowledge dad has, the children are very fortunate to have his input and drive.
Hello Alex how are you and your family, hope you guys are doing well. Love watching your videos all the time 👍💙💜💚❤️💖🦋🌈🌺🙏🏻from Edith in cairns Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Love this video! I was born in 1957 and you are right about how desirable this car has always been! I wanted one and couldn’t find one I could afford. I hate these computerized cars with sensors that have to be replaced are more trouble than just taking care of the car,and checking for problems would be! Love the videos!
Wow so cool love it great job Alex
I really really want to see you fix this one up !! I’ve seen what you can do on the other ones ! I would love to see you get the dents repaired & rust replaced with metal !! It would look great that teal color or black . Can’t wait , I love these cars 😊👍
WTG!Glad you got it Running!🌴😎♥️♥️♥️Mary in Florida not David B. My I Pad Now! From my older Daughter! 😁😉😎🌴🌴🌴♥️😉
She's a beauty and purrs ! Engine likely rebuilt. Get some fresh gas ,oil & filter and go cruisin' . Well maybe a few other things 😉
Alex...you have instincts about old cars...the car whisperer! Amazing somebody didn't buy that car earlier...waiting to see how the restoration continues.
That’s a great project!! ‘57 Chevy, the American (and Canadian!!) classic. It will be fun to follow your progress. Keeping it original? 😊
I’ve really got to tell my dad about Alex’s channel. He’s love all these neat old cars.
Great buy Alex.... can't wait to see it done.❤❤❤
Oh lordy, a 57 Chevy! Covet, covet, covet! Having learned to drive in an "on the column" car, I could even drive it! I even remember splashing gas in the carburetor. Those tires sure look like snow tires!
That was awesome thanks for sharing this with us
Wow, Alex you sure have a “good eye”. Leaving your name and number for whatever tickles your Canadian fancy is a good idea. Hour and a half EARLY tow trucks is unheard of here in the USA. I appreciate your work ethics and the fact that your sons are willing to help you with restoration and short efforts you took to fix the damage panels.
I'm anxious to see this 57 running. If anybody can breathe life back into it, it's you.
The original Blue color is gorgeous 😍
Oh the memories! I love seeing it brought back to life! Cant wait to see the journey!
Looks like a winner. Good job Alex. You have a good eye for possibiilties. Waiting to see what you make of this classic.
That was a great sound when it turned over!
I’m looking forward to following this car. You go Alex😃👍
Good luck with your new project. 🍀
It’s gonna be a beauty ❤️
Alex my darling. WOW, I can’t believe you brought it back to life. You are a master car restorer. Who ever ends up with the car is one lucky person. I know after you finish with it. The car will be a eye catcher. Congratulations, until next time. Take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🕊🌈😇🌹👍🙏🌞🇺🇸❤️
It really is a cool looking car. And just a couple days of Alexander know-how and it's running! Would love to see it in it's original color. What a great one-owner find!
OMG I love this project and to think I was a car content complainer ❤😂 I am 75 years old and you have no idea how appreciated I am for this restoration.😊
Great find! I love classic Chevy's! Amazing it started!! Looking forward to seeing it all finished.
Try the lugs that have the shaft "collars" on the back that are used by a number of the aftermarket wheels as adapters. Those could possibly work for you. The '57 looks nice. I'm kind of spoiled with rust-free, being in Arizona. (Now if I could only afford them!) Keep up the great work! EDIT- I put this up before I could finish watching. Nice of him to bring you the right lugs!
Old cars are so cool, the story behind the cars eliminate your purchase worries because it draws you in as a buyer . The cleanup is crazy satisfying to watch , imagine how many days outside the survivor has gone through be in your care is insane .
The best 50's car ever made!! 20 years old and that's my dream car!
I can never pass by a '57 Chevy without stopping to get a photo. Excited to see what comes next with this one.
I love it!!! It sounds sweet can't wait to see the first ride!! ❤❤ Thank you for sharing.
What an awesome 57! I'm excited to see how it turns out!
Thanks, Alex! 🎇💚☀️💜🌈💕
To paraphrase Dr. Frankenstein, "It LIVES "!Great start to a classic revival. Please go back to the original blue.
The squirrel being in the car was so funny. I was going to comment that at least it's not full of squirrels or raccoons.
Very enjoyable! I started collecting at 12 I guess. Lots of good parts. Looking forward to watching it evolve.
So I grew up in Port Crane, NY. As you were driving away from your house, all the blue spruce trees mixed with the other ones reminded me of our neighborhood. We had the best childhood ever! Thanks for the memories & great video!
This is a great find. The possibilities are endless to make this a real class ride.
Sweet ride Alex!! I can't wait to see it back cruising the streets like it should be.
What a cool find. I've really missed your car videos so I can't wait to see this one come together!
Woo hoo, it's a runner! With all of those spare parts, it's like a life size model car kit. I think that it would be very pretty in the original Robin's Egg Blue with a White roof, trunk and upper quarter panel. I'll bet that quarter panel moulding will straighten out.
All in all, seems like a good purchase. Congrats!
Wow! Sat for 40 years and it starts! Impressive. Nice job pushing out the dents Alex.
Thanks for taking us on this journey with you! So exciting. So interesting. That pressure washer is the bomb!
Thanks Beverly!
I can't believe I am sitting here with a smile in my face watching this video! I am definitely not, nor have I ever been a car crazy girl, but I can't wait to see this car's transformation. I am sure the reason for my interest is because it takes me back to the late 60s watching my dad work on his 57 Chevy in our driveway. He loved that car. Fond memories, indeed. Good luck, and have fun!
I am a soon to be 59 year old granny and I love visiting with you from South African. Thank you
My uncle worked at Steakley bros Chevy in Tx from the 50s til late 80s. My cousin had a slew of unbelievable used cars including a 2 dr. 57' just like that one in factory gold w/ gold and brown interior. He had this car in the 70s for a few months. lt had the 6 cyl as well. l drove it w/ less than 20k miles on it and it felt brand new. True garage kept one owner grandma's car. The interior was like new. l cherish the times l got to ride and drive in the 50s and 60s cars when they were low miles like new still in the 70s now when l see these videos. One of the perks of being old. l also live in the house l grew up in and was burying a dead cat recently where my sandbox was in the 60s and found my redline dodge charger hot wheels from then and l thought about curiosity inc.
Alex , watching this video was pure joy! What a cool car! 👏👏👏
You have the magic touch with the automobile. Great to see the love you have for classics.
Thank you kindly!
Oh man this was a awesome video!! Love that car and I can't wait to see more!! I hope you decide to do some more work to it I'd love to see that. Great work Alex!! ❤
Everyone needs a 57' chevy in their life. It would be soo freaky if you started it and the radio came on with 50's music. LOL :) :)
I cannot wait to see this completely done!!! Go Alex Go!!! You are AMAZING!!!!
It does look better without the moss but you do have a challenge there. But I know you enjoy doing these projects. Happy for you that it started. Now to clean out the gas tank? Etc.? It is a popular car, indeed.❤️👍
I was born in 1953, but this car was still very popular and plentiful when I was in my teens & 20's. It's still very desirable here in Tennessee!
57' Chevy was my dream car when I was in high school.
Nice find and very restorable. Glad you could get it running so easy after all the time it sat. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Hope you got a good deal on it.
Awesome find!!!! She sounds great too!!!! I love watching your videos, thank you for sharing and have a great evening!
Whadda cool car! Re the squirrel(s) if you have a vintage boom box (i remember at least one from a precious vid), put that in the trunk with the volume and bass all the way up-no more critters! Lolz 😂
Great find on this 57 and the extra parts help fixing it up. You'll have it on the road soon. / T
So glad you saved it !
She’s alive! Awesome!
You make it look so easy. ✨🚗✨
'57 Chevy! Boy, that takes me back! Well done, Alexander!
Great new project car!
That's a Chevy 6 cylinder for ya! Start right up after sitting for 40 years! Great video. Thanks.
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks. Loved the Arkansas connection. That's where I am😊
A '57 Chevy Belair is my dream car. I prefer the trim with the V insert on the rear quarter panel, and a 4-door, since that's more practical for me. So instead of having a real 57 Chevy, I have little replica models displayed on my book shelf. 😊
I was so happy when this baby actually cranked and started. I started clapping with joy! It looks great after the cleanup and pulling out the dents!
In 1984 when it was parked, I was still living in Drayton Valley, AB (Nashville TN now), and my mother had a green '55 Chevy which was the daily driver.
Alex, you are an amazing mechanic. I used to be part of the drag strip crowd and worked on & restored old vehicles. You have a gift at troubleshooting, my friend. Rare!! 😊
Blessings to you and your adorable family ❤
Nice job Alex, love it when a plan comes together !
I love these videos !!! So satisfying to see this classic Chevy restored! 🤜🤛
All the best as you work on a classic.
I love the original blue color.
What an awesome deal you got the classic Chevy ,, quite a neat hobby for you to be fixing up ,,I sure hope it will start and run ,,glad you rescued it ,, enjoy
Thank you for filming this. When I met my husband in high school in 1966 this is the car he drove. I miss those days. Thank you again.
i am pretty sure this is the best 50s car to own because all the parts to fix rust and issues and what ever else are available.
Those Chevy L6s are pretty indestructible. That thing cranked really well right off the bat.
What did I tell you about the pool house garage Alex? LOL 🤣
I bet Melissa is thrilled right about now. 🤭
It'll be beautiful once you get it all redone. ❤❤❤❤❤
Another Great Buy. 👍👍
May God Bless you & ALL of your loved ones ALWAYS. ✝️🙏✝️🙏✝️
My mouth fell open when I heard that car start, and it sounded good. Great find for you. I was born in 1957, so that is 66 years old, not 70 yrs old yet. lol
Another awesome car saved by you 👍👍👍👍😁
Nice surprise this morning....... I love all things "Vintage" including 1957 Chevys, ... totally enjoyed this video....
Will it start ? Yes. Fun video. Thanks for taking g us along.
Wow great job man, can’t wait to see your progress! Way to go…..
What a find! Alex, you have been blessed in that the motor started so easily and that you were able to pound out most of the right side damage as easily as you did. And also to find out that it moves too. Now you need to get it to stop, and administer chemo and surgery to deal with the cancer, among other things. It's like that car had your name written on it for 39 years. Keep up the good work!
Please keep this Chevy for your kids Alex , that is just amazing
I am watching a lot of this type of clips and this guy is the first to clean the car before working ..
LOOK, no bar codes on any of those parts for that car. Long before bar codes came out. Way cool. Good luck with all of it.
great job....love me a 57.....yes nice to heare something run after those setting years 👋
The bit of bright blue from the original paint job looks rather pretty.
