Honestly, he isn't just standing up for his allies. He's standing up for all mutants (who aren't actively against him), because he knows how hard the world can be for the persecuted and outcast, actually doubly so.
    Always respected him for that.

    • @0megacron

I thought the same thing. They mentioned him ripping out Wolverine's metal, but the entire reason the X-Men were on Asteroid M... the entire reason Wolverine tried to finally kill Magneto... was because ol' Mags had just killed MILLIONS with his EMP stunt. Just think - everyone with a pacemaker, everyone on life support, every plane in the air, every submarine under the water - ANYBODY whose life depended on some kind of electrical equipment... just dead. All because Magneto wanted to show the world's governments how dangerous he could be.

I just love the 2020 situation in the x-men comics. They basicly tried Magnetos version of mutant sanctuary by forming a nation, and so far, it worked better than any other attempt in mutant history. I feel you. But I think a lot of the current X-Men talent like Pepe Larraz and RB Silva are like a throwback. Very colorful, vibrant, great new designs, and uniquely utilizing panels in a layout less common in current books. Story is very good too.

The problem with Magneto is that if X-men is supposed to be read as an allegory for the civil rights movement is that if the X-men universe were real, then Magneto's vision for the future would be right--not Xavier's--because the genetic classification for mutants is literally Homo Superior. If Mutants were the next step in human evolution, then there would be nothing wrong with the death of humanity. In fact, an attempt at peaceful co-existence would be unrealistic. *Even though peaceful co-existence among the races is the right path in the real world.
But if you really want to get into brass tacks, then Homo Sapiens would probably outlive Homo Superior--not the other way around--because they always get into mortal conflicts with one another. The only ones that would have a chance to outlive homo sapiens would be the one born with healing factors AND the good sense not to use it for superhero reasons.

Even worse, when Magneto was pushing the coin through Kevin Bacon's head, the reason Bacon was immobilized was because Prof X had control of his brain, was looking and feeling thru Kevin Bacon. He had to hold on to make sure Kevin Bacon couldn't activate the doomsday device, so when Magneto slowly pushed the coin through Bacon's skull, Prof X felt the entire thing, excruciating slowly. Kevin Bacon most likely died after the first inch, but Prof X felt the whoooole thing

I would add on two things: There was an issue where he literally tore a few of The Neo apart (They attacked him first, but he RIPPED apart all but one!). Aaaaand in X-Men #25 (The same issue where he ripped Logan’s Adamantium out.). Before he fought the X-Men, he caused a massive backlash where he retaliated against being trapped by the UN. His outburst shut down electricity all over the world. This resulted in the deaths of a lot of people. That was probably the worst thing that he ever did.

While it's not as bad as the acts on this list I think one of Magneto's horrible acts worth mentioning is when he put Gambit on trial which led to Rogue leaving him for dead (I personally believe Magneto did this out of spite towards Gambit because of Rogue rather than carrying out any kind of justice) and on a side note he watched and recorded Gambit and Rogue spend their one night powerless together (doesn't take a genius to figure what they did, thumb wrestle obviously).

Considering Franklin "I can do anything" Richards exists, you can't call Apocalypse the most powerful mutant in existence by a long shot. Hell, Matthew Malloy was so overpowered they had to invoke time travel and make it that he never existed in the first place.
