It takes some degree of self-honesty to get the full value of this lesson, but it's worth it. Great presentation, supportive and non-judgmental tone. This is a great self-assessment approach for any painter!
Man! You sure master your brush and I can see how much confident you’re feeling about your painting! Definitely! Love your confidence!!! I want that!!! 💕
This is such an awesome project, because now people have actionable steps for improving When I was a personal trainer I used to break each move into “beginners” “intermediate” and “advanced” - that way clients had the motivation to master each level and then work towards the next level 🎖
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful talent on TH-cam. I am trying to pick back up on my art skills from long ago. Watercolor was not my strong suit, but you have me so inspired that I am giving it a go! I also picked up a copy of "Everyday Watercolor" today...can't wait until I get my hands on it. Thanks again!
This is awesome Jenna! Now I want to "test" my skill. 🙂 You are srsly making me wish I could afford to retire now, instead of 3 years from now as planned, LOL! But you'll still be around, I trust - till then, it's baby steps for me.🎨🖌❤
This was incredible Jenna. It's nice to see how we could develope over time. This was very helpful and beautiful. I'm not as bad as I thought. Thank you. I loved your video.
I'm not at the advanced stage, more intermediate. But I am having a hard time understanding where the whites are as painted, and until I understand that, I can't move forward. I understand the light value at the highlight where light catches the petal edges. But the whites in the advanced sample seem to have whites where I would see shadows. I'm stuck!
I guess I'm just at the lower tip of the stem level...My mouth was wide open as I watched this with awe! Amazing Jenna. I just love it!!!!wish I could paint even just one leaf...
Estoy encantada de haberla conocido, creo que es el mejor tutorial de acuarelas que he visto, llevo cerca de 4 años en clases generales de pintura pero la acuarela es la que más me atrae y me encanta. Mil gracias por su valioso tiempo.
Hi! I enjoyed your video. You have a beautiful gift! I really like your palette. Is it porcelain or plastic? If it's porcelain would you mind telling me where you bought it? If it's plastic I can't use it - because I paint on silk with dyes and they stain and don't 'play well' with plastics. I'd like to give you a small correction, but only to help, if you don't mind. Quinacrodone is pronounced k•win•ack•crow•doan (the doan rhymes with own, yet starting with a 'd' but is NOT down). A quick way we say it is kwin and then the color-->Quin Magenta or Quin Gold, etc. I hope this helped and it did not offend you. God Bless 😃
Questions - My big challenge is that my studio is in my basement and I’m dependent on artificial light. I get to following videos and I can’t distinguish tones as readily as I can see them in the video. I should me and my eyeballs are 70 years old. Jenna Questions- what kind of lighting do you have in your studio? Do you use natural white or bright white paper? John Question - In this video there are three main areas of white; the table, the paper and to some extant the pallet. What kind of lighting do you use for recording videos. Do you use a filter/diffuser? Thanks
Hi David! The most important thing is that you're just doing art and enjoying your process. Lighting, however, is also very important. When I paint, I am always looking for natural light. It's just the best. When we film, John has professional lighting that is a whiter/natural tint of light (but they are very bright, I wouldn't paint with them on if we weren't filming), and yes we have diffusers on the lights. The lights are in my amazon shop if you want to see what we're using, but they are on the pricey side and if you aren't looking to film your artwork, you probably don't need these... www.amazon.com/shop/jennamrainey/list/XA6NMQC0NL1L

Hey Denise! Thanks for all your input. My palette is ceramic from Sylvan Clayworks! I LOVE it! Take care! 💕
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Great video......you really make the stokes easy to follow. Thanks! P.S, quin AK ra Doan say it ten times fast to settle it in.
Hi 🙂 have you ever used Princeton brushes from the Neptun line? 🙂 they are more affordable then the heritage line 🤔thanks !
I like the first one!!!
The filbert brush you used, what brand is it? I’m having a hard time finding some good filberts! Thanks 🌸
Terrific video!
Do you recommend using reference photos? Mine often end up overworked trying to follow a photo, or blobbish looking like nothing at all!
Jenna I think I am on the hardest one it is challenging but I did it
😍

I feel like I would start to muddy my whole painting during the "carving" portion
It’s actually pronounced “qwin-ack-ra-done”. The “done” part rhymes with “tone”, not “Tony”.
I’m not sure why but I found no.3 easier than no.1
No 1 kept coming out not looking anything like flowers 🌺 😢
I like Acrylic painting. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
where’s the pallet from? sadly isn’t on amazon storefront lol
Sylvan Clayworks!
