For me Salah is like Ronaldo. I respect both and I acknowledge that they are very good (world class) but I just don’t enjoy watching them that much. I just think it’s personal preference

i know tom had this weird thing where he only rates players who dribble like bernardo silva and messi, but for me i genuinely love salads awkward playing style… it’s different and it works very very well… he’s one of the most efficient dribblers whether it’s pretty or not, and i think him prioritising scoring and assisting instead of being a highlight reel is why he’s been consistent for so long and has been so fortunate with injuries, everything about his game is efficient

Tom believes he’s smart the way he watches football but he constantly proves that he only cares about one thing: aesthetics. He’d rather watch a player look «good» whilst doing nothing of significance than a player that looks slightly awkward whilst winning you games. Salah is the top creator and goalscorer in the league. He’s had a goal contribution in 15 out of 20 games he’s played in the Prem this season, one of the other 5 being the Spurs game where he had an assist robbed by VAR. A player that can litteraly give his team a goal in 75-80% of matches is beyond world class, but hey Kudus looks a bit better when driving with the ball👍🏻
The fact Pedro Porro hasn’t been put in most improved is crazy, arguably the best right back in the league considering everyone was saying he couldn’t play RB. He’s also joint with Vicario been Spurs’ best player of the season. Been assisting and playing that inverted RB role so well for Spurs all season so far

If you say “arguably” it means there are other factors which can determine how good an attacker is.
@jonoleech7832 fine then I'll say it. It is the most important attribute for an attacker. Who's job is it to score goals if not for the forwards. I'd rather my forwards have output than them looking pretty on the ball.

So yes, in terms of impact and output, Salah is better. I won't deny that Ronaldinho was a joy to watch due to his skills and control but goals and assists win games, not stepovers. TH-cam compilations have created too many nostalgia merchants like you who view 2000s footballers with rose-tinted glasses. Be real, Ronaldinho was a nightmare for managers. Always partying and drinking. Compare him to Salah who is a top professional and fiercly dedicated to football, any manager would prefer to have salah in their squad over ronaldinho. So yes, Salah is, in every way except dribbling and skills, better than Ronaldinho.

The way you win a game is by scoring more goals than the opposition, therefore scoring goals is the most important and valuable action on a football pitch. It depends on a players role, but usually the attackers job is to help their team score, whether thats directly (scoring/assisting) or indirectly (being in any way involved in the goal). The better attacker is usually the one with better output in different kinds of circumstances, more specifically - the better goalscorer.
Shearer scored 260 goals in the prem but it is the general consensus that Henry was just flat out better, skillset is the most important thing for a forward then goals.
Haaland can score 2000 goals, nobody would say that he’s better than R9
Feel like it’s just wrong to leave Tottenham out of biggest surprise. No one expected spurs to play as well as we have this season with the likes of harry Kane and Lloris out AND having young players like Udogie & Vicario perform at the highest level.
However, spurs last season spent the first few weeks 3rd before slowly falling, they stayed first for the first few weeks this season and fell to 5th (obviously under different circumstances) so it's hard to judge if they've actually improved or if their change of playing style caught people off guard at first.

Most improved has to be based on the delta between where they were last season and this season. Based on that I would say it is between Solanke and Joe Gomez. Solanke output has increased more than any other players, mean while Joe Gomez was how not to defend meme last season and this season he came back and player in all 4 defensive positions including left back where he has never played before. In all the games he had locked down wingers and put in a massive shift to cover weakness in the team that is sitting top of the table.
Leon Bailey? Is the obvious winner. He has the most G/A this season per min ?

Tom is right that Palmer is becoming overrated as a footballer. He didn't ever play an exorbitant amount of games at City and was sold for 40 Ms, which he was never worth, to begin with, imo. He has been a bright spot for Chelsea this season, but to say that he has been lighting up the Prem this season is an overstatement. The man has 9 goals, and 5 of them have come from penalties this season (scoring penalties is a skill in of itself, however; it takes more skill to put the ball in the back of the net while using skills, pace, and every other trick in the book to get behind the opponent's defenders/GK). Also, Theo was correct in the beginning to put Vicario in there ahead of Palmer, considering that Vicario was a goalie from another league, and many people had no clue as to whether he would even be good or not for Tottenham. He slotted into the 1st place keeper position and has basically been the best goalie in the league, other than Alisson, who plays for one of the 3 best teams in the Prem.
The lack of Spurs players because of the Arsenal bias is actually worrying🤦🏻♂️🤣
