One of the best channels in locksport. When Georgia Jim speaks better listen. I struggle with dd locks. I watched a video you did ordered the same lock it was like a light came on. Instantly, I was much better. I’ve picked pin tumbler since 2007 but dd locks drove me crazy.
@@Loose-Shirt6551 these are identical internally to the Unity sold by Amazon. The Unity just aren’t sold as individual locks and you have to buy a minimum two. Also buying in person at Lowes lets you check the bitting
Thanks for sharing this and the tips. I have never picked a disc detainer but its on the todo list. This makes me want to get one of these locks. I really like that you can gut it too.
Great picking!!! Yes good beginner DD lock. Same disks as a Unity DD padlock. Also you can file false gates on some of the disks and fool your friends 😅 Well done!!👍🐾🐈⬛🍻
@@chriscapune7873 If I could have bought a single Unity I would have gone that route but didn’t want two keyed alike and that’s the smallest amount i can fine on Amazon.
I had tried that once, a long time ago… the tolerances are so sloppy on the core that a false gate deep enough to be effective can also act as a true gate if you turn hard enough. 😬
Nicely done Jim! I've been trying to get a hold of this DD lock. Who sells these? Amazon US and Europe don't seem to have them. Update: Oh, it's from Lowes Home Improvement

That's neat that there's a DD that's accessible to North America pickers locally and is guttable. Thanks for sharing.

Good vid bud! That's neat that there's a nice intro DD lock for you, US folks to get. And remember kids, use lube!

@@knowthebird it’s a very straightforward lock and gutting and reassembly is very easy.

Yes that is the problem with the Unity’s.

Nice and I probably need to get one from our local Lowe’s
@@mcdpoor if you want to learn disc detainer and get familiar with the internals I’d suggest them.

@@wolfganggrojcig2528 yes, they’re at Lowes. They are identical internally to the Unity padlock if you can get that more easily.
Great video 👍 i want to get into DD locks. Looking at your pick, would you recommend the sparrows DD pick for a beginner?
@@AmericanPicker83 yes, the Sparrows would be my recommendation, after that probably an rwb customs
@georgiajim2260 thank you very much for your feedback 👍 I appreciate it 😊
