I have a 2003 XC-90 T6, and yes it is starting to have issues going into limp mode. 186K, it has been a great car and I've done all the work on it - timing belt, brakes etc. This is a bit more than I want to tackle since I do not have a hoist. With the price of used vehicles now days it may be worth having my local shop do a rebuild. Ugh.
With my 2005 XC90 2.5T there's not yet that problem with a driveshaft. If transmission oil is coming out from driveshaft, it means that the membran (metal plate) inside the driveshaft has gotten loose or broken and transmission fluid can leak in to the hollow driveshaft. Just get a new driveshaft and there's no issue of leaking transmission oil anymore.
Hi! I own a 2006 T6 XC90 with this transmission, it has been rebuit twice haha. Do you think it is possible to swap the transmission for the one in the 3.2L version?
great video ! i think the suv one are way to much to get involved with under the hood . the s70 ,850,s60 are much better to deal with but them AWD ones way to much involved without a lift
I keep saying they should have used the 6 speed that they used in later motors like the v8 and 3.2 in-line 6. They are much stronger and are geared better than these awful 4 speeds.
The other options the XC90 had was 2.5 turbo gas engine, the D5 diesel engine and the Yamaha V8 my dad's XC90 has the D5 engine and it's AWD, the volvo diesels are very reliable and have a lot of torque if you change the oil and timing belt that engine may last over 1 million km or 1 million miles depending on where you live and the transmissions can last a long time too if you change the fluid every 40000 km or 40000 miles

Agreed. They arent the best but they are cheaper to fix.

Was considering buying a 2005 sc90 T6 for my daughter’s first car. Probably not any longer…
