I received a few messages from people asking my advice on how to leave their cult like church. I understand how difficult it can be especially if you had been there for years. I myself tried to leave once but ended going back, it wasn’t until I applied these steps that I was able to leave for good!

I like the importance of letting your leave to be led by the Holy spirit. Also having a mtg with pastor will give you spiritual closure. 🙏🏾

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will have u leave immediately because staying would be detrimental to stay any longer. It’s important to be praying

I can definitely relate to the cult like environment that you described and the behaviours that people show towards you when you cut down attendance.
One thing I am not sure about is your advice on leaving. I don't doubt that it worked for you but in a cult church the leadership are both abusive and unreasonable.
They are not going to sit down an agree with your reasons to leave, especially when the reasons are based on how they are governing the church.
I would recommend any person considering to leave a cult church to really plan there exit with family, friends and maybe even a therapist.
