- Let's paint a dramatic storm over the sea! Using basic watercolor techniques I will show you how to paint stormy sky, lightning and rough waters.

Materials:
watercolor paper, rough (140 lb or thicker, I use Arches watercolor rough, 156 lb),
2 different size bristle brushes:
- small and pointy (N7 Loew-Cornell, round 7000)
- wider flat and pointy (1" Silver Black Velvet, 3009S Oval)
3 watercolors (Raw Sienna, French Ultramarine, Payne's Grey),
masking fluid (any kind would work, just ask at an art store) or an X-Acto knife,
paper towel,
water.

Hi all. I know I am using a special material in this tutorial, I just want you to start exploring new tools :) For those who don't want to buy a masking fluid there is an alternative to it in the middle of the video (using X-Acto knife). Let me know how did your painting turn out!

@@iamtheevilone Most art supply stores will have it in the paint section. Just be sure to get the removable kind, as there is also a permanent fluid.

Why is there no mirror image of lightning in the water?

I really loved it, I'll try for sure! But... shouldn't have some light reflections over the water because of bolt flash? :/
Great question. You can. This lightning is so far away that you will not be able to see much reflection. If you noticed I made the water a bit lighter in the center. But you could paint with reflection, nobody can stop you, you need to make your artistic decision. Keep your eyes sharp on things like this.

Я вам порекомендую выбрать для начала основные цвета: красный, синий, желтый из них можно что угодно смешать. Если вы видели мои уроки, то я больше 3-4 красок никогда не использую. Даже черный либо Кость жженая, либо Серая Пэйна :)
Just gorgeous. Can you tell me the name of your masking fluid ?
Mine is called Mitsuwa Masket, it came from Japan. I like it best cause it doesn't stink as much as all other masking liquids. Any kind will do though if you don't find this one.
