@RobertHydroGeo ive got the flint and tinder waxed canvas jacket from huckberry, it's been my most durable jacket, from rocks and mud in the PNW to mesquite needles and cactus in AZ. Holds up better than my leather jackets to be honest
I have an old pair of Filson tin pants. I never wash them. Mostly I just brush them down at the end of the day. Hosing them outside could work if necessary but the wax tend to shed dirt and debris. Good luck
@@RobertHydroGeo Now I'm kinda curious what the brand is with ya avoiding the question. Were the really expensive or really cheap or something? Quality looks really good so if they really cheap I'd really like to know who made them so I can get a pair.
I don't know if you want tung oil finish or mineral spirits on your skin. Why not just the wax, tung oil and mineral oil instead? They're also food safe while the finish and spirits are not.
I’ve let these pants cure in the hot sun for a couple weeks, in hopes that the mineral spirits and tung oil finish would evaporate out of the fabric. I haven’t considered the food grade of the solutions I used, good comment. Do you think long underwear would be an appropriate option to reduce skin to pant contact here? I’ve been rocking the long johns with these pants for a bit of warmth and comfort this winter season.
Yeah man, good question! Pretty much… you don’t wash them! Ha, they can get brushed down or hit with a garden hose if it’s real dirty. Maybe I’ll do some work in the rain, that’ll clean them up huh ;)
I just bought some new canvas wranglers, real tempted to wax them
If you do let me know how it goes!! These pants have been great so far

Beautiful work
Thank you!
😮
cool! great results. what are the ratios of wax to oil/mineral spirits?
This. Need answer.
50/50
1lb of wax, 2oz of tung oil, 6oz of tung oil finish, 8oz of mineral spirits
@@plottwist340 yep this is a good ratio that would work well! My ratio was very similar :)
Good question! I used a very similar recipe based off of @theLoneWoodman had described in his video about making tinned pants.
I’m wanna see how they wear. I subscribed haha
How are they creasing?
They have developed some defined creases around the crotch and behind the knees, the typical bending points
How do you wash them
Good question, a hose and a brush for anything nasty, other than that, I don’t plan on ever washing them
I want two pairs. Do you prepare them and sell them?
Haha, maybe I should make some to sell huh?
What brand of pants are they?
These are a pair double kneed canvas pants. Like carhart or dickies

So sick. One question, how to you wash these bad boiz once you’ve waxed them?

Use an old clothes iron.
Good suggestion!
@@RobertHydroGeo You will ruin the iron if you touch this wax. Use a heat gun or hair dryer.
