    Hello! Thank you for all the information. When our gutters start looking like they need cleaning, we just add some H202 (food grade hydrogen peroxide) to the water. We used about 3 ounces per 12 foot gutter. It takes about a day or two and then you’ll see clean gutters.

    My name is Philippe, and I live in Florida on 11 acres of weeds, wind and sand. Thank you for sharing. You have done a remarkable job and I agree that your philosophy of sharing is the only way we should live. Not socialism per say, as how the Pilgrims failed initially, but keep your own production and barter or share the excess.

    Skip the first 7-8 minutes, then be really patient because this is just not delivering the content in a way that helps you figure out what the heck rain gutter growing is. This is my first stop investigating this method, and at 13 minutes I think he's talking to people who already understand all this and know the method already. Moving on...

This is a channel where human beings share their experience strength and hope not just with their rain gutter garden as this man of spirit shared but also our life experience. This is one of the more profound videos posted on this channel by the way. Hope you can get out of your own way that you may see the light and love of the spirit. You obviously did not watch the entire video as your question about the rain gutter reveals. Good luck your Brother Jonathan.

    Larry: just stumbled upon your rain gutter system post, followed by the Wall-Mart blue bag system post, (now 3 years old) and lastly the double deck system from our new Canadian friend. I'm not on any of the social media platforms so I wonder if you can kick up to Canada a short note to J-P. With the density of fruits and vegetables he might get even better yields if he had his own hive of honey bees in his yard. Because his wife has an educational day care business, might I suggest an observation bee hive kept indoors in a heated portion of his house. That would consist of a "deep" bee frame (9"x18"x2") with a "shallow" frame (5"x18"x2") above the deep. A wooden box (16"x18"x2") surrounds these frames with 2 sheets of glass 16"x18" covering the front and back. Envision a box of cereal with the glass on the front and back. Two sheets of luan plywood or 1/4" plywood covers the glass to keep the hive dark except when they are removed to watch the bees inside. A one inch clear flexible plastic tube (like milking parlor tubing) runs from the lower side of the wooden hive box through a hole in the house wall or a hole drilled in a 1x4 cut to fit in a slightly open window. Bees tend to fly 7 or 8 feet above the ground--- well above children and adults alike, and then spiral down to flowers. Almost zero chance of a child being stung. I often will pull my observation hive, cap the hole in the hive and take it to schools or Church Sunday school to teach the kids about bees' pollination and vegetable and fruit production. If he is interested, he should call his local Bee Club for help with ordering supplies and setup. He should order his queen marked with a dot of paint so the kids can find her and watch her move across the bee frame laying eggs. I hope you still get notified about new posts 'cause I am a sloobow 2 finger typist. All the best. Chip

    Being a multiple level system is a great idea. The additional ideas you made in your comments are well thought out. An idea came to mind using the functionality of the raised - multi level system via a framed build out - - it seems lends itself to having a main support beam across the very top of the frame that you could hook the grow buckets to the main top support beam via wires . Then you could add a hinge on the rain gutter beam assembly on one one end and a pin or latch hook on the other end so it can be dropped down on the hinge end for maintenance and cleaning of the rain gutter beam without having to move the heavy planters and delicate plants out of the way.... If needed mid season and to help clean dirt, leaves, and alga build up that accidentally gets into the rain gutters during the growing season.

    I love that he said instead of putting $800.00 into pills and medicine, he put it into gardening. More people need to do this. I have severe depression, but refuse to take medication for it. It is a crutch, not a cure. You have to do something about it yourself. Psychiatrists just want your money. I started out in school as a psychology major, but quickly realized two things...1. All of those professors are mental cases. 2. I wasn't willing to lie to people. It is all a big lie to make money. Pwople need to realize that if they find something they love, they don't need those drugs.

    Salutations from Willmar... been watching these one by one and following pages getting ready to pull the trigger on an organic gutter irrigated system using the slope of my backyard to make two gutter runs that terminate in a common bed, also researching how to design screen bound wicking cores for the 5 gal planters along the gutter runs from an inert combo of perlite, spagnum, vermiculite and silica gel crystals that are columnar upwards from the net pot terminals... not sure if I’ll get a worm farm set up for vermiculure tea feedings but that would be my preference.
    Love seeing all the DIY innovation on this channel from across the globe...

    • @svlighthouse7423
      @svlighthouse7423 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Deleah Cortes giving plants miracle grow (NPK) is the same as taking vitamins or supplements. In a closed system like he has, it is OK. I use it and also catch worms in my pots to use for fishing. N P K does not poison as that is what is inside everything people compost. Using it in correct portions is completely safe.

    • @roosterrancher3558
      @roosterrancher3558 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So in the pots you talk about, a closed system? How are the worms born from a soaked environment? Always dug up worms from a moist area of leaves. Not a puddle of them. Help a brother out?

    • @svlighthouse7423
      @svlighthouse7423 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rooster Rancher, I said he has a closed system. I did not say I use his system. I did not say he has worms living in his system. I said that I use that type fertilizer and that I find worms in my pots that I can use to fish with. You assumed I have the same system as him. I have pots that sit on the ground and they have holes in the bottom and on the sides. I put compost and wood chips around them. I use a drip irrigation system on a timer.
      The point of my post is that NPK are natural elements and used in proper measurement, they are not poison. My system is partially restricted and if it is OK to use in mine, it is OK to use it in his, because his system is closed compared to mine. We own 5 acres that we are going to put some green houses on and so we were looking at videos on closed system growing.

    Larry, off topic but wondering who/where is the best place to buy Canadian night crawlers? I know they are much at composting but I'd like to help amend my soil in general and maybe grow some for fishing. I live in the TC area (River Falls, WI). Thanks, love your worm videos.

    Just want to say how sorry I am about your brother. Such a shock. I truly was a big fan of his. Could not comment to Sheila because comments not allowed due to stupid people. Always hoped to run into him at Kroger.❤

    So with global warming, soon you'll be able to grow some banana trees in Quebec, right?

    Hi, thanks for such a great lesson in gardening and mental wellbeing. I am going to make a simple one to start with!
    I would also like to ask if you can let me know what the gadget was for preventing cats entering the beds and where can these be sourced from.
    Thanks

    Hi and thanks for the information.. Question for you = What is used to keep the bucket and plant systems from tipping over during high winds?

    Whilst the thoughts of building like this is in all ideals works, so does evaporation. I recommend you cover the gutter completely, and just make holes where your buckets will wick from.

    Would it be good to plug the gutters on a couple of rain barrel with premix water soluble fertilizer like compost tea or anything else ? Or it would be too much ?
