Thanks brother! Sorry, I just saw this, I don't watch many videos nowadays, too busy. This is cool because I am pivoting towards more natural hydroponics. Some of my viewers were put out when I trashed my downspouts, lol. I will point them this way. Keep up the great work.

you and Mike are the only ones I watch regarding hydroponics oh and Simply Green. Love this set ups and be implementing a system incorporating both your and Mikes design x

I watch Mike's channel too and I tried this method works great as long as you keep pH just right and as you know keep it filled. Great work 💯

I’m sure if you used at least a semi clear bottle for your small reservoir you would’ve noticed to refill it. I currently use part of Mikes grow gutter system & I like the float valve improvement you made. Looking forward to your new site opening. Keep up the great work & vids!

I’m trialing a float in a tube in the downspout ( the level of nutrient would be determined by the height of the float)

Love ya show and the idea BUT guttering can be expensive ! I found you can use recycled containers like 2_ litre ice cream containers and a net pot etc and link them together in a self water system

Ive seen hot sand be used to put arcs and stuff into plastic piping. Perhaps hot sand can be modified for this method of creating the holes. Maybe for the heat shield use various sized tin cans ?

Set vid to 0.25 speed and look at the wall at 19:22
It’s just better to use plastic pipes, since iron/steel ones can be coated with zinc or something similar, which causes chemical reactions in the nutrient solution that changes the pH etc...
And! how will we remove the roots that remain in the pipe to clean the system?
I myself fell for this mistake due to ignorance of school chemistry 😢

Hey M8 Love love your channel! Im now called the High-rise Prepper! Since binge watching you! My question is can you join to resivors ( Like a truck has a petrol tank) so as the return tank refills the other tank has an overflow to replenish where the pump is flowing from?

I've have a couple of these type systems on my handrail and use net cups. Seems like your design is pretty closed off, and I was curious if you are concerned about being able to clear out old roots.
I made a 3d printed water level indicator to keep an eye on my kratky-style system, and it works great. Thanks for the great content!

    @daniels1111 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

room for the roots though? Feels like the media will get super crowded. I'm currently building a similar system with 6" pots with coco/perlite sitting on the gutter and using wicking rope. Setting it up like nft, except the gutters are essentially a res. Will turn the pump on probably for 15 minutes a day. Much more efficient and resistant to power outages.

Do you continue using nutrients when harvesting, or do you use just water?
I have heard yes and no. I hope you can help.

@@DM-sc4zy Yeah, I also came to that conclusion. Also, taking into consideration the high amounts of pesticides commercial farms use, I take my homegrown veggies as the lesser evil (although some chemicals may end up in the fruits).

I’ve drawn up a program for 100 x 65 3 d printed end caps but I haven’t got a printer. I’ve tried 75 x 50 down pipes but I think the volume held in this size isn’t sufficient ( nutrient heats up to much and plants use it up to quick)
Any one found a supplier of 100x75 downpipes in Australia, I believe the extra volume of nutrients would be an advantage

I tried the buoy method. I put outdoor. But what happened was, the buoy got jammed, due to the mineral that got dried up. The buoy has small channel, it becomes easily clogged up.

I'm pretty sure roots will find their way down into the gutter. They will break off when taking plants out and may cause issues when they start to rot. I don't see how you can keep the system clean.

Hey Hoocho, Great video. I've been following and made a gutter system similar to the one you did for the apartment setup (for your mate). I came across this stahl-100mm-air-conditioning-conduit-pipe-cover_p4331528, which you can pick up at the local B warehouse (not sure if you allow company names). I am not sure if it interests you, but I am going to see if I can make this work, as I can open it up when I do a deep clean between grows. I'm not sure if it will warp or leak water. Cheers

I’d love to see a system to grow onion bulbs from seed since onions can grow in and eventually on top of the medium. I liked to set up gutters on shelves to use the vertical space. I need to know how to calculate how much water an auto system with the float goes through on average. I want to set this system up at my trailer. I need to figure out what size of reservoir I would need to feed the plants for at least a month in case I couldn’t get back for a while. Is there a book you can recommend. I know you have a patreon membership, but I’m a pensioner so I don’t participate in memberships - got to keep the expenses low with everything getting more expensive these days. Books are always a good investment in case I don’t have the internet.
