The campstove is Butane/Propane mix. This is used initially to start the engine and is monitored by the ECU. The gas mix is ignited by a glow plug. Once the engine is running at around 90,000 rpm the ECU allows the small fuel pump to pump Parafin/jet oil mix in to the turbine. The campstove can then be turned off. Max rpm of this turbine is around 250,000 rpm
Many thanks for your comment! Was a great little turbine! Unfortunately I no longer have it! But you are right, the price for this is pretty reasonable, considering what goes in to it.
Excellent video, I had not seen a model jet engine on a test stand very interesting. I checked the JetJoe site prices are very reasonable considering the engine type and the machining required. Would like to see future vids in an airframe.
By the way, if you need to abort the start, you might want to consider just cutting the fuel and continuing to use the blowy thing. It will mean that the engine cools down properly before attempting another start. Not sure if it matters quite so much on these little turbines, but it is the procedure on full size aircraft, mainly helicopters.
Yes, I probably could have taken the blower away earlier, but remember that this was only the second run of this turbine and I have never ran a turbine before, so apologies for that!
how the model jet engines cooling, at the end of the video we saw, but i wana learn when a model plane fly is it enough air cooling condition, i worried about bearings.
Does any body know, how much these tiny turbines cost. I like the idea of turbine powered foam jet, like Stryker. The big ones haven't come down in price very much over the decade, it seems.
Your not going to want to put a Turbine in a foam jet!!! And you can get turbines starting at about 1,000$ and up. You could probably find them used for cheaper, but your better off getting them brand new of coarse. If you do put one in a foamy, make sure you post the video of your maiden.

Thank you for the in depth commentary and explanation!
Right???
@Overdr1vePsy The turbine is ignited automatically, but started manually! JetJoe have only just started producing an auto start for this turbine

The point of building this is after it has been tested, like this one, I can install it in to a Radio controlled aircraft and fly it
Any chance you might just quickly go over the design/specs on it?
I bought the turbine ready made, then attached the rest to get it running. The engine puts out around 4lb thrust. Cheers
This sort of turbine is great for use in a foamjet. The turbine is small, so the aircraft has to be light.
Very nice ! have you teste d how much kg force is producing ?

how may pounds of thrust does it produce and did you buy the plans or buy it
Cool thanks for taking the time.
What type of burner did you use for this?

anywhere from $3000 to over $5,000, depending on size and performance
Build one it is way cheaper
***** interesting, wasn't familiar with that one. That's pretty cheap.

you can buy cheap small turbines for 50 bucks for small efp planes
What's the blade angle on a jet Joe junior?
Is there online instructions to build one
what is the fuel pump you have used
Is it hard to build a similair engine at home? Is it expensive?
can i build this in a home made rc jet ? becauseim planning to make one i made 4 with electric propellors but i want to build one with a turbine
whats wrong using blower plus he was cooling engine at end well done
Man you could've taken that hand blower off WAY earlier during the start.
i wood like to buy this terbine, where to buy??
fire that comes from the other side
FULL THROTTLE Jesus Christ !
good job jet joe the howe
Hi, The turbine and everything to get it running cost me around £1400.
Cheers
i love that sound
how much thrust?
How did you make that?
Nice
+petnzme01 lol, it would had melted. He made it from much much more
actual the bigger engines hold the heat better, this isn't easy making them small
How fast is this workbench?
what you gonna do with it?
his was by all means self sustaining unless you consider an apu and some sort of starter turbine necessary to be self sustaining
ONCE YOU TEST IT, YOU PUT IT IN A PLANE :-)
thank you.
***** I miss that part too man :) funny
Start blower then spark and only then add fuel. You don't want fuel sitting around in there because of lack combustion/poor air flow.
Serious... Did you have to buy a fan for 20$ i use my compressor and air gun to start my jet, though my jet is homemade and selfsustaining
any data???
can u buy these
too expensive just to not fly it. But I'm thinking to do that anyway haha!
You should do full power
your better investing in a glider for you speed freaks
HP ?
you dont measure power output in HP when dealing with a jet engine, you measure it in thrust
What are you talking about??
why did he start it use fan??
Turbine needs to spin up to start it. I guess there are electric starters for these but they must be expensive.
That is how you start them, not like jetcats that have a starter motor
Lots of people claiming jetjoe to be a shitty engine.... I have seen a lot of them working quite nice though....
Can you put a steak or something in front of the turbine and cook it?
:-)
you should put that in an rc boat
ive seen one of these implode and twist the whole thing :O
awesome
Sorry, but this video was not intended for canine consumption
you would need a much larger jet than this one to get you off the ground
ön tarafına 12 voltluk dc motor taksana be agam
@Overdr1vePsy yes! I thing so! may be it come from china.
I tried to share this with my brother, didn't work!!!
I want one!!!
cant hear the turbine because the blower is on Duhh
This is awesome! Should put it in a wheelchair! :P
I put one of these on my RC car, it flew to the moon:/
just google jet joe you will find. around 1400 GB sterling ....... Enjoy!!!!
Nice!
I had headphones on :'(
put that over a board and then on water! LOL
No, not difficult. I think the whole thing was around £1500, cheers
Yip yip yip......
bueno
how loud
COOL
lol im gettn 1 for my foam jet
ZOOM OUT !!! my god you people with cameras are clueless
Nice Tash! hahahahahaha
the grass was nicely in focus throughout the whole video
that's not the JUNIOR
its cool but i don't see any fire
You must be very grown up! go and whack your bone you f.....g turd. LOL
turd!
