    Thank you!!!! I'm 80 and have been struggling with understanding Fusion 360 for almost 3 weeks but it remained a very thick, almost impenetrable fog after watching 2-3 dozen other videos. That fog has now lifted considerably after watching this one.

    that was so clear and helpful ! most tutorials just ask you to do stuff but don't explain the logic behind the tool so you don't know what you're doing. But your tutorial was perfect and really makes us confident about using the tool. thanks a lot !

    Wow, I just started playing with Fusion 360 about 2 weeks ago. I was watching people make stuff and trying to copy them. One inadvertent click and I was lost. Slowly figured some things out. I wish I found this earlier. Lots of things now make sense. Thank you!

    Jason is one of the best Autodesk presenters. Clear voice, good pace, virtually no verbal tics (uh, OK, right?) and absolute mastery of what he's talking about. I've been using F360 every day for a year and I learned some things from this "fundamentals" video. Mark me down as a fan.

    Jason,
    Excellent, excellent video!!! The level of details you gave us blew my mind away, as you really nailed it, those are the details that as a beginner I was expecting to learn. You told us the "whys" and what to use for the different options you went through...again, excellent!!! Also, you gave us real life examples, not just theoretical ones. Please keep making great tutorials like these as that will increase the number of users of the software, and the more people use it the more we will benefit from sharing our experiences.
    Thank you very much indeed mate!!

    I'm successively discovering better tutorials as I delve deeper into solving all of my questions about why my models continually devolve into chaos as I'm learning how to model on Fusion 360. My little misunderstandings about basic functions are becoming critical issues as my models progress/digress and right next to tutorials by Lars Christensen, this instructor's methodology answers so many questions in such little time. Great presentations.

    Why is there incconsistancy with the picking order of the parallel constraint? As shown in this video, the picking order is a "this to that" except for parallel. So when making the perpendicular or other constraint selection, the selection positions the first entity relative to the second. When creating the parallel constraint it positioned the second entity relative to the first.

  • @kennybutcher6307
    @kennybutcher6307 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Case in point. I'm following your video and at 44:00 min you select tan, circle and line and in your video it moved the box to edge of the circle but when i do it my circle moves to the box line... This is what I mean by constraints don't work the way I want them to work as I'm going.

    • @easyriderj
      @easyriderj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 54:40, the construction line does not pass through the center of the circle. Shouldn’t it?

    • @easyriderj
      @easyriderj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short answer is yes. You would very likely draw the line to split the circles in exactly half. That being said, there could be a reason why you wouldn't want it exactly centered. In this particular live stream, I was drawing things quickly and didn't pay too much attention to whether or not it was constrained the way I wanted because the principle behind what I was showing would be shown either way. Good catch though and great question!

    Really enjoy your videos Jason. I'm watching them now because we have summer shut down. I may have a stupid question here but: Do you happen to have a video or some instruction on what order to constrain in. I've found that sometimes I have trouble getting the constraint to do what I want. For example I was drawing a complex shape and the top of it was 4" horizontal. I tried to constrain so the geometric line stayed mid point on the vertical construction line so it would be 2" on either side all the time. BUT when I hit it my model geometry moved so it was mid point on the construction line. I just find that I do not know the correct order to do constraints in so I know without a doubt that what I want to constrain is what is going to be constrained. right now I feel as though it's hit or miss. Or something I feel like I just got lucky and it did what I wanted. I'm new to fusion and have been learning when I have time but my job title has many hats so for me I just don't have time to sit there guessing which way to do it.
    If you can help with that I think it would help frustration that many other people have too. What I found kind of helped me was that I watched an inventor instruction video. I guess like you say in this video it comes down to engineers want defined properties and designers want to have a flexible canvas... I kind of need a way to define quickly.
    I hope my question makes sense.

    Jason, I have recently learned that there are times when constraints are not visible on screen. I have also learned that some constraints are applied automatically, but I have not seen any videos or discussion of when we can expect those constraints and when they might not be applied. One example is when a small circle is drawn at the end point of a construction line. I once saw it demonstrated but not explained. I have seen situations where the coincident constraints are not visible at the center of the circle. In one case I was not able to see a horizontal constraint on a construction line. Was that a fluke? Or was that by design? Another example is the rectangle that has different constraints depending on how it was drawn. Your comment is to not stress over it but this leaves us wondering why there are differences in the constraints depending on how it was drawn. We seem to always be stumbling over constraints we did not anticipate. Would it be possible for Autodesk to create a comprehensive video on constraints that would take a deep dive into what can be expected from the software related to automatically applied sketch constraints?

    Jason, what happened exactly at 51:53 where to top right corner didn't really look as except (I've heard that you said 'no'). All of a sudden it was tangent again and identical with the other. This 'error' happens often to me when creating a rectangle where I want to dd filleted corners.

    can you turn projected geometry into modifiable geometry in one shot? or do you need to re-sketch over it?

      select the projection (purple) and righ click to 'break link' and it becomes regular geomtery (blue) - but if you change the piece you projected from it will no longer update.

I was hoping no one would ever watch that part. So far, it looks like about 8,000 people saw it... It's ok. That's the kind of thing that happens during live streams.
