@@superlandon14 interesting. I saw the pilot episode on the Internet when I was young and I kind of want them to live like that instead of like they're struggling to survive.
From what I heard, that's the reason why John K doesn't many much more than snippets and commercials; because he's so hard to work with. I've even heard of animators getting into arguments with him or being put down by him.
Loved this show as a kid, and have grown to appreciate it even much more, as an adult. Something I think is pretty cool, is how both Ren and Stimpy are both actors, and famous characters in their own universe, in spite of their adventures. They occasionally bent reality with this info as well. That was a really cool balance, and something not really done before in animation. I hope in the future Ren and Stimpy can at least get a Netflix special of some sort... Once can only hope.
I feel like Ren and Stimpy inspired Disney animators to create Timon and Pumbaa for the Lion king. Since the company noticed how the show was very successful with the audience and they wanted to capitalize on their success. As a result, their characters became even more popular then the source material it's based on
"I suppose that's why they never meet up with the Animaniacs on the Warner lot." Well there's also the fact that John K. hated Animaniacs and once anonymously slandered them in a magazine.
Can't believe they forgot to mention how Ren & Stimpy will make a theatrical debut, and return in the form of a new animated short, airing right before the 3rd Spongebob movie, coming out in 2019, along with being featured in the upcoming Nicktoons live action hybrid movie.
Hate to burst your bubble, but John K. said that he's not working on a short for Spongebob 3. Also, Paramount apparently want nothing to do with Ren and Stimpy following the disaster that was Adult Party Cartoon. So much so, that they don't want them in the planned Nicktoons movie.
You forgot that Powdered Toast Man was voiced by the late Gary Owens, who was a veteran voice actor known for his roles as BirdMan, Space Ghost, Blue Falcon, Rocket Ramjet and Commander Feral!

What's weird is that I first watched Ren & Stimpy on MTV on their animation block. It fit right in. Many years later I saw it on Nickelodeon and thought it seemed very inappropriate for the channel. It also seemed to show new episodes so I always thought it was rebooted. I figured they got away with it because they had the same parent company. I'm so confused now!
There's a few more facts they could have added- such as fact 108- Stimpy being a genius ditz and inventor. Fact 109 Ren being both German and Mexican. Ren also has a bit of a soft spot for kids. As seen in- " Fake dad", "A visit to Anthony's", and "Ren needs help." Fact 110- Ren is a bit of a crybaby, and can be a bit timid. Fact 111- Ren loves to read romance novels. This is especially made apparent in the comics. Fact 112 They both love the crossdress. Fact 113- Ren is an implied fraternity member- note the fez hat. Fact 114- the timeline of the show in universe, is a mix between the 50's and 90's. However the timeline progresses from the 1950's to the early-mid 60's. This is noticable in later episodes. funny, for number 28. while I strongly believe animators do have story telling capabilities, I've heard people in the field talk crap about how animators don't make the best story tellers. I think everyone's got their own opinions eh? not to mention there HAVE been great animators who tell fantastic stories.
I just ordered the original 5 seasons on DVD. You could say I was one of those kids who got exposed to this show when it aired, and it was more entertaining as it was weird. Nickelodeon really hit its stride back then with cartoons that had different kinds of filters, even if they are animated in a weird way. Some were wholesome, some were crazy, and others that had comedy in so many different extremes. Even the live action shows, game shows, and skits really bordered on the absurd, and in some circumstances, quite frightening when written right, as though the human mind had so many layers that television seemed to be the gateway into seeing what was in another person's head.
