Thank you for the excellent video and flushing idea. I am rebuilding my 1971 1f engine right now at home. I pressure washed the water jacket and had huge gobs of rust coming out. I imagine more may have formed since and I don't want to ruin the new radiator, this is a great idea! The tip about not using a thermostat is smart too, because it could never get up to temp with the constant fresh water flowing through.

Great idea, I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow. To get some PVC pipe flush out my system.

My one concern is that my bottom rad hose never gets hot, any ideas?

@oscarpallaresmedia21 When you say you're overheating, is it boiling over, or are you just seeing it on the guage? Could it be a bad gauge? If it's boiling over, but the bottom hose isn't hot, it could be a clogged radiator. In theory, the bottom hose shouldn't be hot if the entire system is working properly. The coolant exiting the radiator should be getting cooled by the radiator.

@@RanchoCoyote thanks for the reply, I flushed everything including the block, everything flows, clean water comes oit out everything. New pump and tstat, vacuum bleed n fill system, after 10m of running gauge starts climbing.

Mine was doing that also, but it was also boiling over spraying hot water and steam everywhere. Just to see if my radiator was capable of keeping the engine cool, I ran it until the temp started climbing, then sprayed water over the radiator. That worked great and kept the rig from overheating and within the normal temp range. As soon as I removed the water spray, it got hot immediately. I know there could be other factors, but I took the results from the spray test to mean that the radiator's cooling function wasn't performing, likely from being clogged with rust, scale etc. The radiator was in pretty bad shape overall and would have cost more to fix that buying a new one, so I went with new. That made all the difference. Never gets hot now.

@@RanchoCoyote I'm installing a new temp gauge on top of tstat housing, that would alse help to bleed the system by cracking it open a bid

What’s the story behind the truck.

I got it in 2016, not running. The seller said it hadn't run in years. I messed with the carb a little just to get it running (barely), then found out there were no brakes. It sat from then until early 2022 when I retired and started working on it. I'm trying to make videos of everything I do to it.
