    Good video, good luck on money back from Chrysler.
    3 times now shifter harness and bezel on my wife’s jeep. Still no recall, or reimbursement.

      guys i tried everything i could on my 2013 and the only solution is to remove the circuits board in the rack and found the weak solders behind it.

      @@philoskill15is there anyway to replace the circuit board or do you have to replace the whole part?

    I got the same issue.
    Started in September, any time I would turn it off and back on it would stop.
    I rarely drive it. It's primarily my boat hauler only.
    The day it was horrible. Sometimes it would clear, sometimes it wouldn't. It was 40 degrees out. I live in north Florida so 40 degrees is rare event for me to use my truck. I wonder if it could been a issue and I didn't know because I don't drive it in the winter.

    Hey so all you did was clean the battery terminals and leads? My 2016 start a couple of days ago but was fine the next day, then bad again today. It doesn’t go completely out, just kind of intermittently. Thanks for posting the video

      Hey bro ch3ck the battery voltage what I noticed while having this problem is that the electronic power steering is powered by the battery if u clean the terminals and that's not try a fresh battery that should work.

    • @michaeltemple895
      @michaeltemple895 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's how my 2013 behaved. It eventually stopped working all together. I can't find parts anywhere to fix it. I would trade that truck in while if still works.

    • @joelagos1527
      @joelagos1527 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CoolDudel537 I was considering replacing the battery, but my battery sits at 12.6V at rest and 14.4V while the truck is running. If I spin the wheel dry steering I can watch the voltage drop sometimes to 12V and the wheel doesn't get heavy. Then on the highway later at a steady speed with voltage sitting at 14.4V the steering loses all power assist.

    Did you have intermittent eps loss at first? Currently having this issue.

    Thanks ill try this next. I have intermittent loss also, only on some startups. Completely random. Sometimes it'll come back upon the next startup, sometimes it won't. I refuse to accept that this can only be fixed by replacing the ,$1200- 2400 entire rack! Mine a 2013 1500

    Theres a circuits board in the rack, you need to check for cracked solders behind it

    • @hiachi1405
      @hiachi1405 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How would you repair those cracked solders? Or is there anyway to replace the circuit board itself. Or do you have to replace the whole part

    Bro i have a 2017 outdoorsman with the 5.7, mine is also a Canadian truck in the U.S and mine is now starting to have the same issue, ive tried cleaning the connector, the post and swapping the fuses and relays, i think its my rack and pinion too, i dont understand why they choose to make it more difficult with VIN specific

    Go file a complaint through NHTSA. It’s super easy and only takes like 5 minutes. It’s the only way we’re gonna get Chrysler to fix this

    I'm dealing with this BS on my 2017, except I have no codes. Just doesn't assist sporadically. No rhyme or reason to when it works or doesn't either. Removed every connection, cleaned really well and then die electric greased everything.......exact same issue. Hoping the steering gear I ordered fixes it

      Hi Joe did u get urs fixed? Ur description matches what I’m experiencing right now, my 2022 lost power steering and only showed a error message to “service powering steering” without any codes

    • @joelagos1527
      @joelagos1527 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Retroeffect768 check and change your steering shaft knuckle, it's 2 bolds and a bit of elbow grease. Amazon ones are $50-$100 oem ram ones are $400.....start there

    • @joelagos1527
      @joelagos1527 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Retroeffect768 i ended up changing my the steering column knuckle, then changed the steering rack with a rebuilt one. Dealer quoted me $6200 to replace the steering rack, cost me $1800 for a rebuilt rack with lifetime warranty. Took me 1.5 hours with hand tools in my driveway, 2 mounting bolts 2 electric plugs and I replaced the tie rod ends as they were starting to wear and it was already apart. No more issues and it's been 8 months since it was all changed.

    same here I got a 2014 ram 1500 hemi and the truck looses power steering when its cold out but if its above 52 degrees it will work. Sometimes when its cold out if I turn the truck on and wait a few mins turn the truck off and on the power steering will work bit then it'll go back out like 30 mins later while I'm driving. Dealership quoted me like $3400 to replace rack and pinon box. I tried going to other mechanic shop most said they cant do it cause it HAS to be programmed and they cant get what they need to do that. I called the dealership when i heard of the recall but they were for certain trucks and that all their recalls for that issue are all done. Bullshit.

    • @wyattpullenbeats
      @wyattpullenbeats หลายเดือนก่อน

      When it's warm out, the power steering works 100% of the time, but when it's cold it doesn't work at all, only if I let my truck warm up for a longggg time

    • @kevinnorton1997
      @kevinnorton1997 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wyattpullenbeats Unfortunately not. I've tired all the youtube fixes none of them worked for me. i might just get one myself to replace it but I cant seem to find the rack and pinon available and the junk yards around me are a pain to deal. so until its fixed its a great arm work out.

    • @wyattpullenbeats
      @wyattpullenbeats หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I've figured out heating up the circuit board on the rack and pinion (it's the box with the circle in the middle of it) heat that up with a heat gun or a heater for a little bit and it should work. I think faulty solder joints are just getting frozen and giving a faulty signal

    • @kevinnorton1997
      @kevinnorton1997 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @wyattpullenbeats I've seen some people do that with the same problem with it working while it's warm outside and not when it's cold. I saw a post somewhere saying that it's something to do with it being too cold for the signal to send. I can't remember what the exact problem was.

      @@davidhall9787 six months after it failed, I finally found a remanufactured rack and pinion at O'Reilly's Auto parts for $1500 plus 300 for the core charge. It is working fine so far and this model didn't need to be programmed to the computer.
