    Hey Lauren. I see a fair number of posts commenting on your looks and splaining something irrelevant to you. I just wanted to chime in and say you're doing amazing work. These videos are really helpful and you are a great instructor. Thanks for making these and putting them out there to learn along with. I think you're the best guitar instructor I've come across on TH-cam. Thanks so much for what you do. For all the rest of the unhelpful comments, I'm sorry you are getting those. I hope you can tune them out and keep being awesome.

      There’s nothing wrong with your looks or charm, Lauren. Or your choice of a partner. And you are a good teacher on top of that. I did purchase your finger picking course already and I am appreciating it. Huge hugs from Oslo, from a Turkish/Norwegian guitar enthusiast who used to live in the Boston area 😊

    OMG! An absolute epiphany! Strings 6 & 4 on 6-string chords (G, Em, etc.), and strings 5 & 4 on 5-string chords (C, Am, etc.). So simple, so fundamental, and yet so entirely ABSENT, from most online instructions on the Travis Picking technique. Thank you for that seemingly trivial, yet incredibly meaningful, little tidbit!

    This is so helpful, thank you so much! You are one of the few teachers out there who seems to remember what it’s like to be a beginner, and I really appreciate that. I have a couple of questions, if that’s okay:
    1. I can do the picking well enough, but I find that my hand and arm get very sore very quickly. If there anything I can do about that?
    2. Would you recommend anchoring when doing this? There seems to be disagreement about this among guitar teachers, so I was wondering what you think. I find that it helps, but I don’t want potentially to pick up a bad habit that could limit my progress in the future.
    Thanks again for all your work!

    • @LaurenBateman
      @LaurenBateman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. The soreness is likely from tension. The finger anchor is a preference. I like it but I know my classical teacher did not like me doing it.

You bring a VERY PERSONAL, thoughtful approach to your lessons ... Not to put down others, I'm sure they're sincere .. but you have a warmth... I REALLY FEEL this is a one-on-one class, not just another video - BTW - I signed up for your finger-picking class -- Thank you Lauren -- PS Love the old radio.. Excellent guitar lesson well explained. The visual aids helped to clarify the technique of finger picking this style. Would have had trouble otherwise seeing and knowing what you were doing. Great job
