Bahahaha, this is amazing! I love Lee's compositions but there's no denying that he needs to seriously practice a bit, it's not just that solo either. Jason is just a fucking flawless player, some kind of God.
BOO became irrelevant since Jason left them. Just listen to Jason's solo album and The Discovery, you'll clearly realize that Jason is the reason why The Discovery sounds so good.
***** I respect your opinion but I'd hardly call it mediocre. To be honest Jason's album is not that attention-grabbing, as you say too much repetition. The point is, however, just by listening to his album you can tell why The Discovery sounded so good. BOO needs Jason just as Jason needs BOO.

but when he tries to be original it doesn't turn out all that good. The hos down thing was funny and all but the structure is really meh and kills it for me
Jeff Williams i love that analogy, it’s a great way of simply summing up how mind boggling it is to listen to him play. trying to understand his solos is like trying to divide by zero.
Jason wrote the song, i remember lee struggling with this solo alot during live performances. And jason did the solo live each time at every live performance. Lol.
lmfao! I was there at warped when he fucked up that solo! some biker dude next to me almost threw his beer at him at sobbed over how bad Born Of Osiris will be without Jason... also later that day, Jason threw his Chelsea Grin Pick in the crowd and it hit me in the eye, I still have it.
+Dylan Edwards It would've been cringe worthy for him. I feel bad for Born because they'll never be as good again... plus they're all really young and make irrational decisions so them breaking up is a high possibility.
There's not a chance in fucking hell you've ever hit any of that solo at your level of playing. That being said, I learned and retained a lot via adderall abuse.
Lee doesn't even fucking play it correctly. The final part of the triplet sequence jumps between the B and E strings (which is really fucking tricky to play) and Lee just does lazy, messy, random shredding on the G string.
Chriddof Roy I fail to see how this is relevant. Lee doesn't play the triplet sequence correctly. He doesn't play it in F harmonic minor it's just random chromatic shredding. Watch Jason play it and then watch Lee play it. Lee does not play the triplet sequence correctly, he plays it all one one string.
Jason's been killing it with writing a new solo album. I always wondered whether they would play their Discovery discography at shows, quite ballsy for Mr. Lee
A lot of people like to hate Lee because he can't play the solos live that well, but they also like to forget that he was the bands rhythm guitarist for many years up until that point that Jason was kicked. He never wrote, recorded, or performed any of BOO'S solos. He stepped up to the plate as fast as he could to learn the solos, so what do you expect? He can't be like Jason and perform them 100% spot on because Jason actually took the time to craft and practice those solos for a long time. Lee just kinda had it thrown at him and he did what he could. Sure, the outcome wasn't great but that's how pretty much most guitarists would have been with it. You can't expect someone who grooves on the guitar most of the time to just get up and start shredding perfectly. Watch more recent videos of him, he's a lot better now than he was.
Ooo so he was rhythm guitarist before and took up on leads? That explains why so many of the albums are bland and sound practically the same to this day lol
Jason also is just at a much higher level than Lee as a player. If Lee had a month to learn these solos and Jason had a days Jason’s versions would still sound infinitely better because he’s a much better a far superior player.
The day Jason left was the day the band died. I remember seeing them at Warped tour without Jason (I think it might be the very tour they got that solo from here). They just couldnt do the solos.
maybe if Lee would use the neck pickup instead of the bridge and actually took the time and effort to learn the alternative picking part it would sound do bad now would it?
Not denying that Richardson's a better guitarist who can pull off his work live, but is a video of him sitting down in a studio with zero pressure and no audience really a fair comparison to having to play this on your first run-through in a live setting?
you kidding? have you seen jason playing for ASP live? given it was years before entering BOO LOL.. you should have done your research before commenting.
@@jadetaboada447 My comment requires zero research beyond my personal experience between recording and live performance, it is literally only designed to be an observation that a live performance is a poor point of comparison to a studio recording, no matter who you are, no matter when, and I stand by that regardless of who's the better player. You should have read the comment before responding to it, and if you've already read the comment and still feel the need to defend your opinion about who's a better guitar player then you shouldn't bother responding any more because you're missing the point.

Well, Lee is playing live, Jason's in the studio. Jason's playing a song he wrote, Lee was literally brand new at lead in the example you played, and once again, Jason wrote it. I understand everyone rides Jason like he's a pogo stick, but Lee has way more groove in what he writes and plays. Jason is kinda just a shredder and would I say Jason is better? I mean maybe.
