I use a 21/64” socket for the drain plug. That’s 16.7 mm and it fits more snugly than my 17mm socket. My Sedona is similar but the oil filter housing is on top of the engine and is much less messy to remove. The cap on the filter housing is 27mm like he said but a 1 1/16” socket fits perfectly. The cap is plastic so you want a tight fit.
Thank you, I changed my own oil, the dealership changed it when we first bought it as courtesy and they only put 5 QTs and the oil was black and burned LOL never trust those guys.
I took my Palisade in for the first oil change. On the second I did it myself and found that they never put back one of the bolts for the plastic shield and they over torqued the plug.

@@joeknowz4898 Hopefully that continues for you, for me, they only filled it up to 5 QTs, they didn't replace the gasket and they never put a new washer on the oil plug screw. Dealerships are 50/50 and in my opinion they cut a lot of corners.
@@joeknowz4898 You are not getting Amsoil full synthetic quality oil from a dealership unless you pay for it. They purchase the cheapest oil the company can get and that is what goes into your car. Talk to any mechanic who works at a dealership. It is all about saving money. I also don't let any of my cars go longer than 5k miles between oil changes. If you want a leak free, high mileage car, change your oil more frequently. Dirty oil carries abrasives through out your engine and works like a hone on seals and soft metal parts.
@@capecrusader6932 Yeah... I was all in on Amsoil when I was younger.. I had 3 cars.. 2 daily drivers and one classic. I too went the 6 months regardless of milage with OE 10 W 20. I never had any high milage due to my drive to work, never needed XL or Signature and 12 month 12,000/24,000 mile filters. Now I'm retired .. drive less then 2000 miles in 6 months... My last 6 month oil changeI only drove 1800 miles I wasn't driving much during covid lock downs on both cars. I got rid of one daily driver and we still don't put miles on like we used too. I don't want anything to make my warranty to be in question... I'm in and out in less then an hour, with good weather they wash it and about every 4 months I get a dealer coupon in an email or regular mail...The OE 5 w 20 I was getting, even with my preferred customer account is $ 7.50 a quart, I was getting Wix oil filters through them too and they are almost 10 bucks ( spin- on ). The warehouse move during covid and I had to order a few items more to get shipping free... $100 dollars worth...I haven't see any offers on tv or from them in emails since the restriction are not in place anymore. and of course... I know its not their fault ..my order was lost ( mis-delivered, right address, wrong street ).. on the phone with UPS for a half hour just to be told it take 24-to-48 hours to begin tracking it.
My Golf does that just keep a quart handy. No big deal just don't let it dry out. Some cars burn oil more than others but theoretically all cars do that

You don't have to do anything. It calls for 5w30 semi synthetic.

What about the washer that comes with the filter? Is that needed?
Yes. Its for the oil drain plug. Be sure to take old one off and put new one on.

The way the new filter is designed it won't hold oil before you put it on
It's a cup, it def holds oil.
Extra emphasis on not overtightening the oil filter - 35 nm is the spec, and it will leak if you go over as it's all plastic.
What is 35 NM in foot pounds?

Bro my 2020 is palaside is buring oil. Deep stick showed no sign of oil. Please help
