Stunning. This hits my jazz sweet spot. I love the rest of jazz. I love discovering its bewildering flavours and variants but every last bit of this has me writhing in delight, Jaume, Enrique and Ignasi go there, to the edge with the best view. Ignasi in WTF genius mode, dances right on the edge. Jazz at its best is about risk. The wrong note rescued, that weird new chord or chordal progression, that rhythmic transition. And Rita deserves to be there. Never the lounge singer (for long), her jazz career has been more varied, more risk taking than any. For all the folk and the fado, she often seems happiest exploring here.
Enrique Oliver channels Coltrane! Beautiful sound, man! What a great group this is! Mr. Terraza, I have enjoyed you in every one of the video performances I have seen so far. You are a brilliant musician!
Perfetta.
Frankly, if someone told me beforehand that someone is going to sing the head of Well, You Needn't, I would be sceptical about it. It's nice to see Monk's tune done well in a somewhat unconventional way. Perhaps it's a nice way to have people rediscover the head rather than just focus on the solos. Please do Pannonica some time too.
Another brilliant facet in Rita's performances! I also like the new musicians included, on sax and guitar! Oh, I'd like to hear "It's over now" more clearly. Paul from Germany
Carmen McRae did an entire album years ago of Monk tunes given lyrics. That doesn’t make this any less great but Rita’s interpretation owes a little to that it sounds like.
You're talkin' so sweet well you needn't You say you won't cheat well you needn't You're tappin' your feet well you needn't It's over now, it's over now You're dressin' with class well you needn't You're holdin' your sass well you needn't You think you're a gas well you needn't It's over now, it's over now It's over now, it's over now You've had your fun, so take a bow You oughta know, you lost the glow, the beat is slow, the shadows grow, The lights are low, it's time to go, let's close the show down You're taking off weight well you needn't You're looking just great well you needn't You're settin' the bait well you needn't It's over now, it's over now It's over now, it's over now It's over now, it's over now It's over now, it's over! Yes! Strongly agree. The videos of this concert with Dmitry Baevsky are revelators of Rita's growing talent. For example, the Luiza theme has already been used to compare it with the disc Lua Amarela.
and it gets better every time I hear it!
Brava Señorita Rita! The trombonita sounds so sweet-a!

Mike Ferro wrote this lyrics in the 1970s, not Jamie Cullum
Very cool to hear a trombone version of this Monk classic. Dig it.
Doing Monk, that's when you know your stuff. Monk's music intimidated a lot of his contemporary sidemen.
Ma guarda com'è strana la vita

un regalo meraviglioso

a voi tutti un saluto affettuoso

I didn't know that there were lyrics for this song. absolutely brilliant.

Rita was 17 when this was recorded! It’s frightening to think how good she’ll be in the coming years.
Still 16. 22nd June 2016
Рита-чудо!
Amazing!! Spectacular! 👏👏👏❤❤
Amazing, No words.
Que buena musica... son extraordinarios los de la SAJB.

Best solo by Rita so far.
I like it. Cool
Wow, el saxo es un fenómeno. Me acorde de John coltrane
Great!
This song does not need a vocal unless you can find a good scat artist. Holy crap Enrique, awesome sound you get an A.
Brilliant version of Thelonious Monk's tune... (his wife called him "Melodious Thunk")
Just look where this trio of Rita, Enrique and Jaume take this 7 years later...
