Hitler made sure to borrow as much money as possible in order to modernize his army.
By 1939 Germany was again on the verge of economical collapse as its debt was 200% of its GDP, however, it started the war and pillaged the occupied countries.

WW2 was partly caused by France's greed through the Treaty of Versailles, which sow the seeds of revenge in Germany.
Ridiculously, they couldn't even have won the war if America (& Britain) didn't help them.
Now, under the veil of Franco-German amity, they "force" some part of Germany to build bilingual French-German school, while such schools hardly exist on the French side of the border. What a crafty covert Frenchification!
Ironically, in the last few years, far right wing party "Front National" is getting more support in France. It's gonna be interesting to see what will happen next.

    • @retardosaurusrex360

You forgot something. The Soviets invading Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Also you didn't describe fascism really well, with the real definition of facism, Stalin was also a fascist and Hitler was just as socialist as Stalin was and they were both equally cruel.
Also you forgot to mention the cruelty within the red army, shooting at their own people, the NKVD.
And one more fact: The germans actually also found something cruel left by the russians in eastern Poland(occupied by Russia) the Katryn massacre.
Also the west european countries were freed, but the east european were still occupied by Russia until the end of the cold war. And the allies betrayed Poland in defending it.

You referred to the bombs as nuclear, although they were actually atomic. It's almost the same, with both releasing radiation. The difference is that atomic bombs destroy particles, hence the complete anhialation and levelling of Kiroshima(?) And Nagasaki. The Nuclear bomb leaves higher radiation, hence why the city of chnobble (spelling?) Is most likely uninhabitable for the next 10,000-25,000 years.

Poland joined the Anti-Soviet Crusade where the capitalist nations teamed together to try and destroy communism. but they failed, they only took away Soviet land and enslaved the people who could have lived free under the Soviet Union. Stalin and his advisers made the choice to defend the Soviet Union by retaking the land to use for the upcoming war against fascism.

Youre right, but i have a question. Would you shoot 1000 people and they would die instantly, or kill 500 people in one of the most inhumane ways possible? (I know that the deathcount was higher and i also agree with you)

    • @keairakat7323
      @keairakat7323 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Im personally of the opinion that it was only the wrong thing to do if the total casualties on both sides were lower than those lost from the bombs. Somewhere around 250k lives were lost from the bombings. Projections put the loss of life a lot higher than that, and there would have likely been civilian casualties as well. There would have certainly been fewer children killed, but soldiers werent all old men or anything. The average age of a US soldier was only 26, so many were younger than that. At what point do we draw the line and say that the lives of countless soldiers are not worth the lives of far fewer civilians? After all, a soldier's life lost in combat is still a life in combat. So, as I said, so long as the death toll would have been greater, I believe it was the right choice. Naturally, we will never know for sure, but projections at the time lead the men in charge to believe that it wouldve been much higher.
Look at the battle of berlin. around 150-200k killed and another 500k left wounded. It would not have been any easier, due to the dangers of beach landings.

After the surrender of Germany, Japan had installed a national militia. This means, that every citizen was expected to fight.
You see, the Japanese fought to the last man. If you were a Japanese soldier coming home from a lost battle, you were openly encouraged to commit suicide.
The Japanese would've done everything they could to stop the allies from their invasion, and wouldn't stop until the allies had set foot of every square inch of Japanese ground. They didn't care if there wasn't a single citizen left.
Dropping the bombs was undoubtedly the best option, it would've caused the least bloodshed and wasn't really "inhumane."

I love your videos! I do have one nitpick: referring to the Soviet Union as Russia. Russia is just one part of the Soviet Union, there were 14 other republics! This is like like referring to the United States as California. In addition while most Soviets who died in the war were Russians, they made up less than 50% of total Soviet casualties. What about all the Belarusians, the Ukrainians, Georgians, Uzbeks, Turkmen, Azeri, ect ect???? The USSR was as ethnically diverse as America is, lets not forget that. Thanks.

Hi John, Happy New Year! Well summarized but one significant event that should be mentioned was that the Soviet Union sided with the Germans as it invaded the Eastern side of Poland 16 days after Germany had invaded the Western side - followed by the invasion of Finland by the Soviet Army. It is only when Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa (invasion of the Soviet Union) that Stalin "joined" the Western Allies. Ciao, L
