@@jaywalkur and some thought it will be priced at 2.5m. At that price, this would be DOA given than you can get a Tiggo 8 pro PHEV for 300k more. Hoping Ford now brings in the PHEV or hybrid Territory with a similar or even cheaper price.

Similar problem in Thailand. We have a lot of charging stations but often there only 2 charging points. I own a BYD Dolphin and charge at home. Our long distance car is still a Mazda CX-8, because my spouse don't like to plan charging and make longer stops on a long trip. BYD's DM-i technology is very appealing. But we will wait for a 7-seater (BYD Tang?).

Again, nice review! Just a question, if you use EV only for 5000km,.do you still need to do a PMS (or a change oil) of its combustion engine even if it's not used at all?
This BYD PHEV model is the most affordable compact SUV so far in the market.
I like your take: "It's an EV w/ ICE as a backup as opposed to its peers w/ ICE backed up by an EV." Toyotas & the likes are really lagging behind these Chinese cars in terms of tech & features. Look at Corolla Cross' infotainment, it's an antiquated design like a CRT pushed into the dashboard. Its 360 cam is wanting. If we say we oppose the onslaught of the Chinese cars on our shores due to WPS, what about if we oppose also the exorbitant pricing of the cars from the legacy brands? If anything, Chinese cars are just exposing the legacy brands.
agree. it is an ev with ice as its power generator. unlike ice with ev backup. but it is still 90% an ice powered. vehicle

How's the comfort or NVH when the engine turns on to charge the battery or even pull the car?
You can barely hear or feel the engine turning on. It's very quiet

Hi, is it true that the range is 1100km? The standard is around 100k, how to make it 1100km?
The electric range is 100km, meaning you can drive for 100km using battery power alone. But it also has a gasoline engine and the combined range using both gasoline and battery power is 1100km

I never wanted a Chinese cat, but in Thailand the only affordable option are Chinese cars. I own a BYD Dolphin now since 11 months (25,000 km) and I am very happy with it. The quality is very good. The software (ADAS) still needs some improvements. The Mazda CX-5 (from 2017!) was better working.
Hello high maintenance after 5 years
As per BYD the interval maintenance needed is only once a year for this car since you’ll be running on battery majority of the time and that doesn’t put to much strain on the engine. its like owning an ev doesnt cost much for a maintenance compared to owning an ICE vehicle.
Why hight maintenance costs after 5 years?
I think he is assuming this like like other traditional hybrids.
