- U.S. Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle testified during a congressional hearing Monday about the agency’s failure to protect presidential nominee Donald Trump during a rally earlier this month. Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, fired multiple shots from a nearby rooftop, striking the former president in the ear and killing at least one civilian. Since the shooting, there have been multiple allegations of mismanagement. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down the top revelations from Cheatle’s testimony.

She keeps saying it's only 9 days out, but that's not a tiny amount of time. If it took me 9 days to grade an exam, my students would have mobbed me.
Well, you only need to read a single piece of paper to grade an exam. In this event, there are multiple government agencies involved. I assume it took just 2-3 days to get the final list of people on site (as I'm sure there were last minute changes due to people calling in sick, etc) from everyone involved, then organize the schedules to interview the necessary people, conduct those interviews, request for initial evidentiary information (such as communication logs/recordings, surveillance video etc), then based on those interviews set up a next round of interviews with up-the-chain people involved, request additional information, etc. It's not a 10 minute process by any means.

I'm Australian and have worked in security going back to 2002. This kid would normally have been grabbed and detained in supposedly the hours leading up to and including when people questioned his reason for having a rangefinder. If there is a ZERO element of conspiracy here and this kid acted alone then WOW did so many people alow him through.

I actually studied this topic and stood in the Oswalds window in 2001. Oswald did not shoot accurately because he was right handed and the car went under him left to right, before he shot. As a marine those shots were amazing though under such presure.
The colossal failure of the Secret Service makes conspiracy theorists almost sound reasonable. It’s hard to screw up that bad and not have it part of the plan.

I knew the minute I heard that interview with the comment about the "sloped roof" that there would be no honesty coming from that woman. Anybody with integrity would have either stepped down or said something to the effect of "I own this failure and I am going to oversee this investigation and ensure that the truth is made available to the American people, after which I will make that evaluation" to telegraph that they just want to see the job through before ultimately stepping down.

She tells Mr. Raskin at 16:41 "The individual was identified to be suspicious." then answering Mr. Raskin at 17:25 she says that suspicious individuals have to be investigated to see what about them is suspicious. but then she confirms Mr. Raskin that the serial # on his rifle was used to identify him at 18:54. so if they could not identify him, how were they investigating him to see what makes him suspicious? so this is basically a lie, they were not investigating him because they could not identify him, yet they allowed him to proceed with what he was doing.

I've seen multiple videos of people recording the shooter for up to a hour before the shooting even took place, people where telling law enforcement for almost a hour that there was someone on that roof.
