Yep, put him in pre school Aja…my son was like that but he’s not 2 yet and he’s already making a huge progress and it hasn’t even been a month of schooling. Hold your head up, he is going to talk so much you’ll tell him to be quiet lol

I agree. My son was 2 only saying one word. Started speech therapy for a few months. At the same time I put him in day care. Within a month or so he started speaking drastically. I think him being in day care helped more than the therapy.

I know you mean well by this statement, but that isn't the case for all kids. My daughter is almost 3 and is speech delayed and she is around kids. Whicu hasnt impacted or caused improvement of her speech. Speech therapy has helped some, but it truly does take time for some kids and isn't always solved by just putting them around others kids. Not being rude just sharing a personal experience

As a first time mommy of a 3 y/o enrolling your baby into school is an essential part of their growth as a little person. Him being with you all day everyday isn’t stimulating him enough. He needs to be around his peers. Them speaking and being active will activate him.

Happy Sunday Aja! I have a 16 month old and I've been getting worried about him not saying more words and sounds other than "dada" when I see babies so much younger saying so much more. I appreciate you sharing about Enzo because it's helping me become informed on possibly trying speech therapy. I'm also being pressured to start daycare, but since I'm home 24/7, I don't feel the need. We are all doing the best we can & your emotion shows how awesome of a mom you are. Sending you a big hug!

Hey Aja, thank you for sharing this about Enzo. I have tons of experience with this with my kids. If there are no other delays then he just needs to be around more peers his age. Place him in daycare and continue speech therapy. I have a younger cousin who didn’t speak until she was 4yrs old, one day she just started talking ! his speech will come when he’s ready , don’t stress too much.

Aja I hate to see you cry because then I cry. I know what its like wanting an answer and no one has one. As a former daycare teacher I understand your concerns about putting Enzo in daycare. I taught a few kids with speech delays that absolutely flourished being around other kids and just a different environment. I'm sure you will do what is best for Enzo and I appreciate you sharing his journey. My son was a late talker as well and he just graduated from high school top 20%, AP and honors scholar and off to college in January. Enzo will be just fine I pray for your peace because I know it isn't easy. Harper is growing into such a beautiful young lady. You are such a good mom Aja give yourself grace. Love you, Enzo and Harper!

I just think kids learn from other kids and there’s levels to daycares, don’t be afraid to explore them! There’s private daycares there’s ones with cameras and apps where you can watch your child, you can pop in whenever, they update you throughout the day with videos and pictures etc.

You are not alone with the speech delay. TRULY as a parent still dealing with some “delays” I feel like my big boy (and all kids) are meant to go at God’s speed, not ours, nor society’s milestone expectations!!! No diagnosis, no spectrum placement. So harder to “say the issue”. But the more I sit with God on the topic, I just need to focus on HIM not comparing or expecting. He’s happy, healthy, thriving and just at a different speech than his age! Your vulnerability is soooo refreshing. My Mom Mom used to say “that boy has so much to say, and when he’s ready he’s gonna talk yalls ears off, just you wait”. And now, he absolutely does! Less words and sentences than another 5 year old but he’s made soooo much improvement. Your baby will too! ❤

Your tears are a testament of how great of a mom you are!!!!
I may not have experience in this but I have a 19 year old son and a 16 year old daughter and they are sooooooo different. Different in many ways; looks, character, and even how they learn. Take it a day at a time and keep talking to him. You're doing everything you need to do already. My son turned 3 in Aug. He also understands about 90% of the things I'm talking about, says a few words here and there but still not talking not even close to as much as he should be. I try not to let it bother me but it really hits me when we're out in public and people stop to talk to him/ask him questions and they get no response. I just smile nervously and answer for him. Breaks my heart. They'll get there.

WE NEED more parents like you!!!! Continue to advocate for Enzo in your quest for answers that makes all the difference! only advice I would have since I work with two-year-olds, three-year-olds and four-year-olds and I witnessed several different delays, but I’ve witnessed a lot of them overcome it and I do believe it’s because they’re around so many kids their age and having therapy at hand it really encouraged them by the kids around them, maybe try for a little bit only for a couple hours a day.❤️

    Hi Aja,
You are one of my favorite TH-camrs because your content is so relatable. My son is 4, and although we aren't having trouble with speech, he's having a super hard time with regulating his emotions. I think that all kids have something that is super overwhelming for us as moms to deal with. All we can do is our best and it sounds like you are doing all the things. I know it's hard, but give yourself grace... you are doing amazing and so many of us admire you!

Aja!!!! seeing you cry really broke my heartttttt omg!!!!! you are such an amazing mom and honestly I think once Enzo gets in school you'll start seeing a difference but as a mom of 4 and a autism mom, I would recommend making an appointment with a developmental pediatrician ... when our regular doctor and speech therapist just weren't giving me the answers I needed, that's who did! you have so much love and support around you and you're doing the best you can💕

You’re doing an amazing job as a parent. I work with students who are nonverbal and use an AAC device and students who prefer to sign. I have a few students who use the exact same sign that Enzo uses…basically they are using the hand as the iPad and the finger as them scrolling or pressing buttons on the iPad. There are tons of videos for signing on TH-cam that we show our students daily and help us to communicate with them. Thank God there are ways our kiddos can communicate with us even if they are nonverbal. Praying for your peace knowing that no matter what verbal or nonverbal….Enzo has a voice! 💕

Sending you so much love Mama! 💕 It can be so isolating when you’re dealing with something with your children because it feels like it’s all on you. If you’re open to it, finding a community of moms or other parents dealing with something similar may help! Whatever you’re comfortable with.

Also, have you tried any of those detox baths possibly or even making sure his diet and products are clean no dyes, parabens, phthalates, etc. worth a shot. I was struggling with infertility/ miscarriages, I stopped using certain products in the house, food, and around my body and I’m expecting my first.

I want to take a moment to commend you on the wonderful work you’re doing with your son. In my experience working with many children who have speech delays, I've seen that it's quite common for them to start speaking after they turn three, which is perfectly normal. Being three years old and starting school will really benefit him as he interacts with other children. He'll observe them speaking, and that will encourage him to start talking too. God is always good and his timing is always perfect. ♥️ sending you so much love.

As it pertains to your struggle with Enzo’s speech, both my niece and nephew went through this, my nephew didn’t speak until 5 years old after my sister enrolled him in school. I know every kid is different but I think he’ll be alright. Oh and on the pre teen part , girl I’m the mom of two pre teen BOYS and oh it’s different. Ones so sweet he warms my heart and the other ( older), my word it’s a whole new world for me. He ain’t rude though just forever testing the waters.
