Brian, Randy and guest Tori Spelling discuss the recent loss of their friend and "Beverly Hills 90210" co-star, Shannen Doherty.
Shannen was the biggest star and icon of 90210. She was only there for 4 seasons, but everyone knows who Brenda was, no other actress has ever been able to replace her. Without Shannen, the show lost its magic no matter what. Kicking Shannen off was the biggest mistake. When they repeat it I only watch the first 4 seasons, same with Charmed, I have never seen the episodes without Shannen and never will. Shannen will always be my queen and I will always love her. I love you Shannen across the universe. you will always be my Brenda, my Prue, my Shannen. I think of you every day..Thank you for sharing, Brian.
We love Shannen very much, and we miss her very much. It is still so fresh and unreal that she is no longer with us, and it hurts us very much. We are still very sad, and we will continue to think of her a lot. I understand Brian and Tori very well what they went through the last days of Shannen, and they really had a hard time with Shannen's health deteriorating. We also love Brian, Tori, Ian, Grabielle and Jennie very much as they are our friends, as funny as it is that they don't know us, but at some point you feel a strong connection with them. Beverly Hills 90210 was our series that we once watched a lot, so that it also influenced our lives positively. It made us very happy, and they were our peers, as we recognized from them who had to deal with some problems. I really believe that many BH 90210 fans in heaven will really meet the actors in a lunchroom like Peach Pit, and it will also really be eternal. Both no quarrels, pain, but only peace and through life in heaven together. I know that this also sounds very strange, but on the other hand it is also beautiful that the fans really continue with the actors. Real childhood idols that we grew up with.

I absolutely agree with you and I feel all same way about this. Kicking off Shannen sooo mistakes and I remember once I didn’t know or anything that time I was younger pre to be teenager I start to asking my mom where is Brenda she said I read news that they fired her I was so sad and I see show without Shannen then I turn walk away. I focus do my other thing till Charmed start I was soo thrilled have Prue there again till it start again she died that part of show and I stop watch. All my growing I always haves admired her and love her all the way thru her interviews and other movies she acted in. She always be my Rein and she’s my wishlist to meet her but will meet her in other side when my time is up. Miss you always Shannen and think of you everyday rest easy Shannen

@@user-cb9ul1ds6y I know exactly what you mean. It's also hard to see our generation of peers dying in general..it puts things into perspective about our own mortality. I just watched her on Little House on the Prairie not too long ago, thinking geez we did kind of grow up together, and now this! Her career was basically my whole lifetime almost. So sad 😢.
They are right. The media tried to destroy her during most of her career but us fans we always loved and admired her and her impressive love for acting and directing as well. Thank you for the lovely memories, we are happy too we had the chance to get to know her a little bit more through conventions and her podcast. She was truly a hell of a woman❤
To be honest, her reputation was also due to her own mistakes and behavior. She was causing trouble on set with the other cast members. I know the media can twist and exaggerate but she wasn't guilt free either.
You know you’re a real one when the fans can see through it all and you’ve got the power of the people behind you regardless of the fact, the media - the most influential entity on the planet- is trying to dismantle your good name, meanwhile those that truly matter, the fans and their loyalties can sift through the BS and support you well beyond the efforts of those who tried desperately to suppress your greatness. Why are u in even there when Shannen is causing trouble on the set? Do u really see she's doing all that honestly? No right, ur just accusing someone because it's just a hearsay and ur not even sure if that's really Shannen doing those trouble thingy thing. Also what mistakes & behavior is that is it too much did Shannen ruin someone's life here? You know we all have mistakes & bad behavior too in our younger years & we learn from it. @@seven92023It's obvious you didn't listen to her podcast before she passed. She admitted she should've been more open about what was going on with her. Yes she was late but she was also in an abusive marriage at the time to Ashley Hamilton the drug addict and her Dad was very sick. She was emotionally raw. Jason told her if he had known he would've helped save her job but nobody knew her situation. The press was making it seem she was this bullying bitch and that's what people believed. I loved Shannen and I hated that they fired her, especially hearing one of the reasons is because she cut her hair! And then they didn't have her back on Charmed either. Others came forward later saying Alyssa was the problem. Why the hell didn't they say something back then and defend Shannen? Because they were believing all the lies being printed in the papers. Nobody knew what Shannen was going through. I'm glad she did that podcast and let us all in to what she was going through. Nobody should have to deal with all that. At least now she's at peace.

Shannen Doherty leaving *Beverly Hills, 90210* after season four really changed the game. Brenda was a major character, and her absence left a big hole in the storylines, disappointing many fans who loved her romance with Dylan. The show had to shift focus, and even though it continued for six more seasons, a lot of viewers felt it lost its spark without her. Overall, her departure marked a turning point that changed the show's vibe.
The fact that these people are grieving Luke & Shannen is just unreal to me. These are young people. Luke & Shannen are both gone way too soon. Seeing Brian & Tori without them is just wrong.
Shannen had fans before 90210. She is Heather Duke for goodness sake. She was a queen Mean Girl before Mean Girls. She is Kris from Our House. Then she was Brenda Walsh and Prue Halliwell. She is half of Brenda and Dylan. One of the most iconic couples on TV. That break up shattered lives lol. She will def be missed by a lot of people. Thank you for this.

my truth... I was so hurt that Shannan was let go from 90210 that I stopped watching... I felt that they turned their back on Shannan so I turned my back on them. I did the same thing with "Charmed " I don't regret my decision, I felt it was the right thing to do at the time. I loved her podcast and I also love the " Oldish" podcast. Be kind and enjoy the adventures that life gives you.

Brian has called out Jennie before, like how she treated Tori in the past.
I couldn't believe how extra she was acting over Shannen. And I feel Tori is genuine, she's not trying to act like she amd Shannen were soul sisters but that they haf a past and got to make amends.

I was born the same year as Shannen and my parents passed really early in life . I really admired that she wanted her mom to be set ( in every manner ) if she were to pass away. I could see why Shannen and Brian were both friends . Loyalty to people you care about!

I love he called out the people in such a respectful manner who did the tribute for clout. I was a fan of Shan from the beginning and would get into battle with people online defending her. This one hit me hard and I’m glad she had amazing people in her corner! I do wish the media didn’t try to destroy as she didn’t deserve that.

Shannen was a force of nature. Growing up in the 90s I wanted to be more like her. I myself was a people pleaser and admired her boldness. I couldn't understand why she kept being fired. Now I know a lot of people were intimidated by her. Both shows were never the same without her. I only rewatch the ones she was in. She was the twinkle! Thxs for this tribute.❤

Shannen Doherty carried 90210. She was the most important character on the show. When she left the show was never the same. I stopped watching after she left.
Ugh. I was blown away when I heard the news she passed. Like even though I knew it was terminal, it was still a huge punch in the gut when the news came out. So sad. RIP Shannen ❤
Because just a few days before her podcast said she had promising new treatment and was doing so well. So yeah everyone knew she was terminal eventually but it’s heartbreaking because she thought she had so much time left and she really really wanted it. It’s not fair and it’s heartbreaking…

Oh Brian So many of us loved Shannen through the decades generations of us . But we would never know her like you have nor love the same . I am so sorry to hear of people piggyback market themselves from Shannens passing . Grief is hard enough without having to endure such behaviour of others !
Shannen's personality was the one to follow. She never gave up, getting people think all was cool at times. She was saying what no1 wanted to say- simply put. I love how she establish the list of People who she wanted to see on her goodbye ceremony. I loved it. That's strenght and kindness at the same time. She was big. Some people never get to be honest with themselves. Thanks for having this conversation. 🎉
I stopped watching 90210 when they fired Shannen. It just ended for me. However, I LOVED the reboot. Too bad that ended also. She was so courageous in her battle, so open so honest on her podcast. RIP SD.
Shannen's passing still hits so hard. She was my favorite actress. It totally broke mr my heart. I religiously listening her podcast every week. She was such a wonderful friend to many and courageous woman. Her illness and dying only reminds us how unfair life can be. It's still hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that she has passed away.
So happy to see and hear this....I`m a fire sign, adopted from Sri Lanka to the cold Sweden, when I grew up I could see my self in Shannen, in Brenda, she was my idol, to always be that one bird who was a little bit a diffrent but , and fight for the right to just be yourself....and to day I alsp have a cancer-guy, genuine, true and loyal as Brian, who sees me for what I`m.

Thank you for this! Us 90210 generation felt this deeply. I also understand a little bit more of Tori after seeing this. My heart goes out to her and breaks for her at the same time. Toward the end when she gets more quiet but you can still see her face and reactions...that spoke a million words! She's incredibly misunderstood in the media just as Shannen was, just in a different way. All 3 of you are amazing!❤

Almost 2 months and in ways it’s gotten easier like.. I’m not crying every second.. but the amount of times I think of her a day hasn’t changed. This was a beautiful tribute and idk if you know this.. but it means the world to us that you chose to post this publicly instead of just ok your patreon. I may feel alone in my grief when it comes to people I know.. but I’ve gained a family and community with those who are mourning her loss. I feel connected to so many people and I’m so grateful we get a chance to hear about her brilliance and her resilience from people. She deserved to leave this world knowing she was loved a lot more than she realized. We have been so blessed. This was one of the more difficult celebrity passings for me. I really respected many of her choices in life, and I listened to her podcast. The morning another episode was due, I remember looking forward to seeing what the topic would be and then going about my business and in the next 15 minutes the news came down that she passed. I was shocked. It seemed sudden even though we knew.
I think because I felt like as a kid growing up I didn’t have a voice or stand up for myself when others would bully me, when I saw Shannen on tv and how she conducted herself and was always so strong 💪🏾 it made me feel like I could look up to someone like that. That’s why I admired her on 90210 and Charmed. She will be missed deeply, I’m so happy that Shannen and Tori got to rekindle their friendship recently before Shan passed ❤
I did buy into the rumors but it didn’t mean much to me for some reason. I was still mildly obsessed with her. She’s one of those people you can’t look away from. I was just fascinated by her.
Brian is a real one. Remembering Shannen, honoring her legacy and calling out her disingenuous contemporaries (talking to you, Jennie Garth). Sorry for your loss. Too early in life and she fought it and dealt with it like a warrior and yet showed her fears and sadness. Brian is such a real dude. Very loyal. No regrets. Live everyday and say what you think at all times in a polite manner.

It's truly unbelievable that two star cast members from BH 90210, ShanDo and Luke Perry are gone. I literally can't wrap my head around it. I grew up with this show when it came out. Wow
Shannen was such a beautiful soul and gave women across the world the confidence to stand up for ourselves to show that guess what we have power too. If only some people out there would understand that this world would not exist without women like her. RIP Shannen.
A peer passing often has a different effect than a parent simply because our peers are of the same age and developmental experience . No need to compare. Grief is grief.

Wow I’ve never been part of such an emotional conversation about someone they lost, someone the world lost and I just want to thank you for inviting us along❤ I want to say David lol but Brian, you seem so loving and compassionate and your voice is so comforting and I almost wonder why love didn’t spark between you and Shan as you call her, it’s obvious you loved and still love her and have so much respect for her and protect her etc…. I grew up watching the show and I want to wish she was still here with us but that is a selfish wish, we need to want what’s best for the person that was suffering and maybe she’s in a beautiful glowing place where she is reborn and brand new and happy as can be and maybe holding Luke Perry’s hand and they are having the best reunion ever. We don’t know what’s next but she does….❤ ps: isn’t it ironic that the trait that gave her a bad reputation so to speak ( her head strong, never back down, look the enemy in the eye and fight is the same personality that she emulated with her disease, everyone then looked up to her for that kick ass head strong determination and she was finally commended for the person she was all along! this is so beautiful to watch. thank YOU @Oldishpodcast. Luke's passing was very different in that it was very sudden, but w/ Shannen's, you knew that she was going to pass from her disease but it was a matter of (unfortunately) when. she is so loved. and I can't bring myself to saying was ugh I said it. I had the joy of watching Beverly Hills 90210 from reruns and Brenda was my favorite. I felt as though I could relate to her in that she ALWAYS wanted to fit in w/ her so-called friends. Shannen brought so much depth and emotion to her character. Brenda did not need to be there for all ten years to be remembered. I mean for one she (Brenda) had Dylan first. BUT when you think of the show, you think Brenda and that is a testament to Shannen. I am sad that she has passed, but I know she is no longer in pain. She is in the presence of God (*for those who are Christians like myself). Rest in Peace Shannen!!! We all love and miss you!!!❤❤

I think I read that Tori Spelling was the one who brought Shannen Doherty to her father's attention after Tori watched Heathers. I remember seeing pictures back in the 90s where Shannen, Tori, and Brian would be hanging out together. It was nice to hear them speak about their friendship with Shannen. Even though she was ill, I still don't believe she is gone at such a young age. What a beautiful, strong woman Shannen grew up to be. RIP

Brian seems so genuine. He seems like a really good person. I would love to know who he is talking about though lol he knows saying that publicly is going to get all her fans riled up. The people that have posted the most are Holly and Sarah but Shannen always seemed close to them. I don’t see him calling Jennie out but I didn’t see her posting anything that would assume they are great friends. She did go on and on about her on her and Tori’s podcast and even admitted they didn’t make peace the way Shannen and Tori did like then you didn’t give a damn about her Jennie because you knew she had terminal cancer. Anyway Jennie seems like a fake bully and Tiffany AND the other girl that was on 90210 in the later seasons both said they were bullied by her. Can’t stand Jennie!
