Agree with you. They need to look at the context. Magnus was better dressed than most. And as Fabi says: jeans can be both nice and ugly depending on fabric quality, how they fit the person wearing them, if they are clean, and so on. Also, most chess players are rather poor. The costs for attending different competitions are very high when paying for hotel, travel, food, clothes to use for competitions, registration fees, etc. On top of that, very few chess players win, therefore, most competitions and tournaments they attend are paid out of their own pockets. One reason why it is hard to get a grandmaster title (besides intelligence) is the actual cost of attending all of these tournaments and competitions around the world. To have such a ridiculous dress code in the first place discriminates against poor chess players. However, if you have a rule it should be equal for all: just because Magnus is more in front of the camera is not an excuse to give him a fine for wearing jeans when, as you said, most of the other chess players dressed pretty poorly.
At the last Wimbledon, the white underwear rule was changed because the female tennis players protested. Now the underwear can be any color, but the rest of the equipment must be white. It's not the same though, because Wimbledon is about the color of the clothes, not the type. Tennis players can wear anything, as long as it's all white.
I guess by this time everybody knows the game fixing Magnus and Nepo pulled off the blitz event. Carlsen's FIDE trolling has gone way too far, and now it backfired. KARMA is going after the con artist
Fabi is always a pleasure to listen to. This is the first Time I don't agree with fabi on something. The drug tests are not pointless. There are substances that could be used for short term cognitive boosts. E sports are full of it. It is not healthy and just not to push players in to using this substances if competition is so it creates an environment we're this guys don't have to risk health to compete.so even if chess did not go in to the Olympic yet it still is worth it to preserve the players health.
How about you learn the chess move first before talking shit about Magnus behaviors. If you want to see good behaviors, read Bible or similar things in other religion.
Lmao.. The idea that you should "continue fining him" because he might have to inconvenience himself for all of TWO minutes to put on proper pants. Seriously... grow up. This is child-like behavior and justification. I mean that fully. Magnus broke the rules and now you are trying to justify and HELP him as much as possible to continue to break the rules. You can't make this up
"inconvenience himself for all of TWO minutes to put on proper pants" : Three of the highest rated players of the world (and most of the top players), who have played thousands of game in their career have the opinion that changing pants is VERY inconvenient in middle of a day. For someone who is focused on winning tournaments, such distractions can be disastrous. If Magnus broke the rule, fining him for further games makes ABSOLUTELY COMPLETE SENSE. "TWO minutes to put on proper pants" : If you think the whole process takes 2 minute, you are a complete idiot and just here to feed your agenda. "I mean that fully": When multiple players over 2800, who have played hundreds of tournament speak the same thing, you listen. For a 400 rated player who has not played a single game, and doesn't understand a damn thing about heat of the tournament, congrats you just embarrassed yourself. Nobody cares what you mean. As for FIDE, it is an absolute trash organisation which still consist of members with sexual assault history, has history of supporting criminals and is filled with incompetent people at the highest level. There is no way FIDE can be supported in whatsoever way.
Magnus did not break rules. Rules are vague, as he admitted, and arbiters were cement-minded, not apt for the job. If the rules were absolute, then there would be a commission standing at the entrance, not allowing players to enter through the door if they don't abide absolute rules.
Other chess players like Daniel Naroditsky were completely ignoring fans and spectators because they wanted to stay focused on the tournament. You think the highest rated player wants to run down the street to his hotel to change his clothes?
I attended the event Monday. I was shocked at how poor almost every single person was dressed. Shocking decision by the arbitrator given the context.

Great True Detective reference in the beginning
We can always watch Carlsen, Nakamura and Nepo stream on titled Tuesdays if they decide to breakaway from FIDE
Circles are flat by definition.

Magnus was plus 2 after round 8, Murzin was plus 4, Duda and Arjun were plus 5.
I guess by this time everybody knows the game fixing Magnus and Nepo pulled off the blitz event.

Magnus was not forfeited. He walked out of the rapid event
The official rules say you forfeit a match on the 2nd infringement. Magnus wasn't in the pairings for that round.

Fide must be ashamed for bending it's rules in the middle of the tournament for a single player 🤬🤬🤬👎👎👎👎
Magnus is NOT God
Let him learn to behave
