Don’t forget to replace the 7805 with a TSR-1 2450. $5 bucks and runs cool. You can also get a full recap kit from Console5 for about $9. You can also get rid of the jail bars with a snap-on magnetic choke on the DC adapter cord.
I've been using the "Clean Comp" composite/S Video mod from Retro Six. The board solders right to the pins on the back side of the TIA chip, it doesn't require any component removal (except on the Jr. need to remove RF jack on the back), or drilling into the case, and the picture can be adjusted to clean it up if needed. This mod is not as bad as it doesn't require drilling, but it still requires removing stuff.
Great vid. Did a comp mod on my 7800 years ago. Thought about s-video, but it wasn't as simple back then.... Not sure about the kit you will get for your 7800, but one thing I had to add was a resistor to the TIA sound side. Otherwise, the TIA sound was much louder than the Pokey sound... All in all, I'm really happy with it. Much nicer than RF... ;-)
Thank you for sharing. The 7800 Game Drive by Stone Age Gamer looks like a great solution as it add a very nice a/v port as well as many many other features.
@@300BaudStudios The 7800 Game Drive is amazing. I was able to snag one from the first limited production run back in July. I'll be showcasing it on my channel later this week. You'll for sure one to grab one once they are available again in a larger production run.

The Console5 kits are great. That, and some Deoxit in the switches on these (especially the power switch) usually gets them running like new.

For those who want to improve their RF out : spray contact cleaner to clean switches & the 2-3 channel selector.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try.
