Oh, it’s a wonderful little corner of your garden and the before and the after makes such a big difference. Thanks so much for sharing. What little changes can overtime make something so beautiful

they really can, can't they? It's crazy to me to think that not so long ago my garden was just concrete and lawn! What's your garden like?

I'm in Dunblane and have found spring to be very cold. Feel like we are a few weeks behind, glad to see a TH-cam video from Scotland. Loving your new terrace.

Thank you! The terrace has been such a great addition! I think the microclimate of being in the city and having a south facing garden has meant that a few of my plants aren't doing too badly. I also think not having any frosts in February and March helped. How is your garden coming along now?

Oh good idea, doing a shaded bit in your garden; we are lucky to have a south facing garden and it does get hot - even in Scotland!

haha, its true. You wouldn't think it could get too sunny here but actually it really does. Having the shade has been really lovely! Where in Scotland are you?

Hi, just came across your channel whilst I was checking out other people’s gardens in April and how they are doing as it has been quiet an interesting spring this year with temperatures from up to 28°C down to -5°C and snow again. All my roses have big buds and I would estimate the first one opening in a couple of days! I’m really interested in your pond! We tried it once in a big bucket but fairly quickly it had mosquito larvae and algae. Your pond doesn’t look that big either, how do you deal with all these pests? Btw I planted Scabiosa for all the same reasons you are planting it but mine totally failed. Only bloomed once, had gangly stems and eventually rotted.😅 We have really heavy clay soil that is always a little wet. So I guess it wasn’t the right environment. Replaced it with Armeria maritima, hoping it’ll work and the insects seem to love it just as much! Happy gardening from Switzerland 🇨🇭

Oh I'm sorry your scabious didn't make it. Do you have heavy clay soil? It might have been a drainage issue. We get A LOT of rain here (especially the last two weeks) but my scabious have been ok. I do have quite free draining soil though. Maybe try again with more organic matter to aid drainage? my pond is about a 1m by nearly 2m, so it isn't big. I read that by adding lots of different plants, underwater, water covering etc plants the pond should settle after a few years and look after itself. I had a lot of algae last year (its first year) but none yet this year. I did have a bit of mosquito larvae but the tadpoles and newts took care of them. Are you tempted to try again with your pond?
