Just looked back on old videos and watched this for the first time. Reminds me why I feel in love with the channel. I could listen to TGV talk about most anything as he speaks with such genuine appreciation for all the aspects of each item/watch and is incredibly well spoken. Love that you are back to these types of videos. Light hearted and fun. My EDC has evolved so heavily over the years. Usually though its a watch, Samsung phone, AirPods, wallet (was the centre section originally), fountain pen(have a pocket one that has a number 6 nib, fantastic) + ballpoint(backup), at least 1 folding knife (zero tolerance, crkt, spyderco, buck etc) + leatherman keychain multitool (have a few as i cycle between keys), sunglasses and a flashlight
These EDC videos are always great - it is refreshing to see a genuine interest in these products, rather than just going with whatever is the hype of the moment.
I love my Sennheiser earbuds. Bought them in 2014 and haven't used any other since. When I fly, I have my Sony XM3s strapped on my backpack. I put in my earbuds, put the Sonys over the top for noise cancelling, and tune out. I can keep my phone on almost the lowest volume on the plane and still hear the music just fine.
Your videos always give me a positive vibe. It's the overall atmosphere, your tone of voice and attitude, the room, the things you look at, etc. I love it. I'm a modest guy who happens to also love alternative brands, so instead of an iPhone I have a Xiaomi, a cheap pen because I always lose my pens, my keys, a small bottle of rubbing alcohol (usually ethyl) which I've had in my EDC for so many years, face masks (what times we live in!), liquid soap (because some WCs don't even have soap), and because I have kids, my bag also has crackers, mosquito repellent, Band Aids, crayons and bond paper for when they're bored, arcade cards, and a few other knickknacks. Outstanding video! Thanks TGV. My EDC is my Glycine Combat Sub, Mont Blanc ballpoint Meisterstuck pen, Porsche Design slim wallet and Victorinox card with light. It is so nice to have the Original Gentry style material back. My best!!
Next year I'm hoping you'll preview a Tilley Hat - made by our Canadian neighbors - that are alway appropriate for any outdoor setting! It's one of my essentials.
"I have to say, the real thing is huge. I mean it's the size of a bus, y'know. It's a nice little connection to my wife there." She won't thank you for that, Tristano.
Tristano! Great to see your updated EDC kit. I always enjoy these sort of "load out" videos. I've recently introduced a traditional Boy Scout knife into my EDC rotation and when I'm going somewhere nice I'll often substitute this for my rather large Victorinox Swiss Champ (I have a Vic Mini-champ on my keys, anyway!) Keep up the good work, and stay safe and well in these crazy times. Toodle-pip. Stuart Thornton, Stockport, UK
Nice video. Most EDC bids sound like a shopping list for the apocalypse. The stories you have about the various items really brings them to life. Like a friend chatting about it over lunch. My current EDC is a Form Function Form Architect wallet with the built in space pen and notebook, a Buck Slim 110 and my monkey 47 ring and a handmade Mala. Thanks for the vid!
Love the EDC! Glad to see it and thank you for taking the time to make it. Based on previous Urban Gentry reviews, I actually have a Laguiole en Aubrac for my work EDC and more formal occassions. I love it and get compliments on it all the time. It has remained remarkably sharp with minimal maintenance, even though I do use it with regularity. For less formal occassions, I moved away from my Spyderco to a S.O.G. Trident Mini. Lightweight, sharp, easy to open one-handed. While I have yet to purchase my first Carl Friedrik, I do carry a leather wallet by Tumi, with the RFID Protection card slots, for protection when traveling. Finally (well, not "final", I do have more edc items, but don't want to ramble on too long - you made the video, after all!), while I rotate my work watches with regularity (currently back to the old Sinn 104!), You'll always find an SKX007J on my wrist for my weekend adventures and international travel. You can kick the hell out of it and it always performs. Why the J? - I like the little "21 Jewels" on the dial for no reason I can really point to...
Great video TGV. My EDC: - Watch - Keys (with a Victoronox Mini Champ Alox) - Victorinox Pioneer X - Sunglasses (the forever cheesy Rayban Aviators) - Kindle (currently reading the Saxon Chronicles) - Nintendo 2DS XL - Hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, fragance and hand sanitizer.) - Aspirin - Snack (usually some dry nuts) - My 13 year old iPod Classic with 64 GB of music and videos - Wallet - Phone - Small umbrella - Pen
I'm so intrigued by the obsession of knives within the EDC community. 'just in case I need to carry an apple' is a very weird excuse to carry a knife on oneself IMO
I agree entirely with you. I have never carried a knife and have never thought: oh dear I wish I had a knife with me. I would love to hear UG's reasoning for carrying a knife.
@@theurbangentry Please do TGV, this is the only thing I don't understand, I don't recall a single occasion in the past 10 years when I needed a knife while I wasn't at home :)
I have an uncle who is a thoracic surgeon. He once told me he could watch any man walk towards him and tell you which pocket he carried his wallet in. Because we tend to put huge wallets in a rear pocket and then sit on it. He told me that for your spinal health, always carry your wallet in your front pocket (it's also much more secure there!). So I carry a wallet that has a curved side designed to drop right into the point of your trouser pocket. I find them very comfortable and much easier to sit with! To add to my EDC, a knife of some sort depending on activity and location (grrrr! on UK knife rules! Yay! on Texas ones!), small light, keys, something to put coins in (I hate loose change in my pocket), when traveling about I also carry a calling card case for my personal cards (not phone or credit!) and, of course, the correct watch for the circumstances.
Your edc vídeos grab my attention as much as your watch reviews. Good to know we have a lot in common. That's why your channel is such a huge success. By the way; i never leave home to work without my Victor Hugo leather wallet and my Parker (or sometimes a Kanoe) pen. All bought by my late father in Portugal;before he immigrated to Brazil. Reminds me a lot my refined old man,a true example of how tô be ellegant without being snob and practical at the same ... Greetings from Brazil
Great video! I'm also a fan of small EDC flashlights and of the Olight brand. My recommendation is the i1R 2 Eos. Fits on a keychain, micro USB rechargeable, solid build quality, plenty bright and respectable battery life. All for under $20. How could you go wrong? I agree, the day/date complication is especially important these days!
I've been a merchant marine for over 20 years, and though many say that particular spiderco knife is for the maritime industry, I've found them to be a bit lacking. The Case and Benchmade knife you have in this video are superb knives. The Case knife in particular is a fantastic knife for general use. The specific case knife you showcased in this video, it's beautiful. A perfect gentleman's knife and great EDC. Fantastic video TGV. You always teach me more and more about style and taste in a world where everything is disposable. I'm going to look into the box cutter knife for my own EDC upgrade. 👍
23 minute EDC and there wasn't a boring section in the video. Really great job! Usually it's convincing someone that a pen & flashlight are borderline essentially carry, so it's nice to see someone out there incorporating it and recommending they do the same. I'd like to add jewelry into the mix like a necklace but maybe in the future.
I'm also a fan of the elegant and unique Case Russlock. They all come a little stiff but if you work the action and put a few drops of oil in the pivot it will loosen up. The best thing is watching someone who has never seen this knife try to open one.
Hi, TGV! Glad you’re doing well. You seem so much happier doing these OG Gentry videos. As for my EDC, it consists of a few things. A Spyderco Yojimbo II, a solid knife that I’ve been carrying for almost two years. My wallet has a similar design as yours, however it’s a different brand. It’s minimalistic like yours, which I enjoy. My keys have a CRKT Snailor multitool. It’s a great karabiner with a bottle opener. Of course I have my iPhone with me. And last but not least, I always have a watch on me. I’ve been alternating between my SARB017, Squale 1545 orig, or my Stowa Klassik Flieger 36mm. I usually take my sarb or the Squale outside as I feel comfortable disinfecting it with the 200m water resistance. If you’re looking for classic and traditional knives, check out a Buck folder. My dad has owned one since 2001 and it’s built well. Stay healthy!

Two more Timex that have 3 subdial chrono and tachymeter. Next to buy is a black Timex Navi XL automatic diveresque military watch. And: Seiko SNJ025 arnie Seiko SNA411 Flightmaster Seiko SKX007 MAYBE the Seiko 5 black follow up to Seiko SKX007 Got to have at least a Swiss powered watch: Hamilton II Khaki King with metal bracelet At some future point, god knows when: Breitling Navitimer Before that i might sneal in an Orient Ray 2 Ravin. And a possible pride and joy: Seiko powered Neymar 1000m black diver watch. My goals for now. No rush. But goals whenever i can afford them. Thanks for inspiring me on my watch collecting quest.

I swear by tilly
Look up Akubra!
Knives and watches, the two most expensive hobbies I love and collect
"I have to say, the real thing is huge. I mean it's the size of a bus, y'know. It's a nice little connection to my wife there."
She won't thank you for that, Tristano.
"I love German culture. Y'know... Wagner... ekcetra ekcetra." Priceless!
:) junghans, glashütte, sinn etc. etc ;)
I'd love to see more videos on history related subjects.

My EDC:
- Watch
- Keys (with a Victoronox Mini Champ Alox)
- Victorinox Pioneer X
- Sunglasses (the forever cheesy Rayban Aviators)
- Kindle (currently reading the Saxon Chronicles)
- Nintendo 2DS XL
- Hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, fragance and hand sanitizer.)
- Aspirin
- Snack (usually some dry nuts)
- My 13 year old iPod Classic with 64 GB of music and videos
- Wallet
- Phone
- Small umbrella
- Pen
I'm so intrigued by the obsession of knives within the EDC community. 'just in case I need to carry an apple' is a very weird excuse to carry a knife on oneself IMO
It's far more profound then that, I might have to do a video to address it. Great idea, thank you.
Best regards,
TGV
Yeah, I've never been like, I wish I had a knife on me... Seems so odd to carry one but so many people do...
My father told me a man can never be without a knife. 🤷🏾♂️ Something about being prepared
Opening sequence is so dope.
You need to add a Walther PPK ;)
I inherited a Case knife from my grandfather.
21:35 Crickey! TGV do you feel like you need your Gerber on your every day carry kit?
TGV I’m loving the new style of your channel. Back to how it once was. Thank you!!!
A fellow PS vita user on the plane I see.
The most underrated portable console IMO.
Still love it, glad to hear you do too.
Thank you Nathan,
Best regards,
TGV
Great video! I'm also a fan of small EDC flashlights and of the Olight brand. My recommendation is the i1R 2 Eos. Fits on a keychain, micro USB rechargeable, solid build quality, plenty bright and respectable battery life. All for under $20. How could you go wrong? I agree, the day/date complication is especially important these days!
I love knives but a big no no in the UK. I love to feel quality leather goods
The T-Rex cracks me up each time... my wife is quite certain I have lost my marbles.
Laguiole = Layol. i'm French and we say like this. the "g" is a ghost.
Loved wallet and flashlight!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Oh, and pens..Parker vectors and Parker IM fine point(go with the IM series if you can, the vectors always seem to dry out fairly quick)
Parker pens are overpriced and pretty generic at best.
Lovely personal story of you and your wife , very respectful. Thankyou.
black diamond represents his black heart
I've been a merchant marine for over 20 years, and though many say that particular spiderco knife is for the maritime industry, I've found them to be a bit lacking. The Case and Benchmade knife you have in this video are superb knives. The Case knife in particular is a fantastic knife for general use. The specific case knife you showcased in this video, it's beautiful. A perfect gentleman's knife and great EDC. Fantastic video TGV. You always teach me more and more about style and taste in a world where everything is disposable. I'm going to look into the box cutter knife for my own EDC upgrade. 👍
Old style or new style videos are all great TGV. No matter what direction u take this channel we'll be here to support you.
I think that I am far more impressed that you are able to carry all that stuff in your pockets and not make it look very bulky
That ankle knife came out of nowhere !! Straight up ninja.
Been watching your videos for a while and finally subscribed, glad your doing a bit of everything, seem like a top lad. Good luck
Love that you are back to the OG format and content. Last few videos have been great.
You are the undisputed king of little goodies!
Durer phone case!? YES.
Thanks for coming back around. I'm sick of just about everything but watches and TGV's EDC.
Love your Tudor Sub and the cognac coloured Swanfield 👍👍
I'm also a fan of the elegant and unique Case Russlock. They all come a little stiff but if you work the action and put a few drops of oil in the pivot it will loosen up. The best thing is watching someone who has never seen this knife try to open one.
Many blessings to you and yours @TGV good sir.
My edc rotates a few items as well, but some things I’ve been using consistently as of late:
Seiko Padi blue face solar - the “submariner homage” one, on blushark Academy NATO
Seiko Prospex automatic - Pepsi Bezel on Blushark “Paul Revere” Alphashark NATO
Maratac diver automatic - black / stainless version on Blushark Olive NATO
Garmin Fenix 3 HR Sapphire on a 2pc wolf grey NATO (worn when I work out, Garden, etc.)
Benchmade Titanium Pen (blue ferrule, blue ink) - from the final run when they discontinued them
Write-in-the-rain black metal pen (uses fisher space cartridges)
Spyderco Positron - Carbon Fiber / S30V
Benchmade 555 Auto Rift (long discontinued)
Spyderco / Byrd rescue knife
Victorinox Pioneer (silver)
Wallet by Herschel (m81 woodland camo cordura)
Arcteryx LEAF courier 15 messenger bag
Iphone XR (blue)
Ipad 9.7 (2019 version)
Jabra Elite 65t bluetooth buds
Jaybird Bluebuds x3
Tungsten Carbide ring (Knight’s Hospitallier Cross) by Berricle worn in the
“Power” position (right middle finger).
Yeti 10oz coffee cup
Zippo “sugar skull” lighter with double butane torch insert
Xikar cigar cutter & punch
Glock 43x FDE special edition
Ameriglo orange Hackathorn sights
Shield Arms s15 mag
Federal 124gr HST bonded
Custom ECH kydex
Awesome video. Keep up the good work.
Love when you do EDC videos!!
So you know, I now own too many pairs of Persol sunglasses, thanks to you. A pleasure as always.
8:00 I'm french and I can confirm what you said about the Laguiole ^^
This is the first time I've seen your EDC but have been wondering for some time. Always thought of sending you a knife upgrade. Appreciate what you do with your channel content.
Hi TGV, nice to see an EDC video again! Some years ago, you inspired my purchase of the Laguiole knife. I liked it so much that I purchased another! I was impressed with it's quality and elegance and highly recommend it to anyone interested in knives. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Have a nice weekend! Regards, John
Love that Harbor Freight caliper!!
TGV!
Welcome back old sport.
Listening to your videos got me motivated to continue my watch collection.
Before, my collection comprised of digi analog Timex Expeditions. Then my pride and joy was the military Timex 3 subdials Chrono with slide rule. These are hard to get know. Another fave is a black Timex diver with 3 subdial chrono. Two more Timex that have 3 subdial chrono and tachymeter. Next to buy is a black Timex Navi XL automatic diveresque military watch.
But my pride and joy is my CITIZEN ECO drive ie light powered Blue Angel slide rule pilot watch.
My motivation now is the Casio pilot watch with slide rule.
And:
Seiko SNJ025 arnie
Seiko SNA411 Flightmaster
Seiko SKX007
MAYBE the Seiko 5 black follow up to Seiko SKX007
Got to have at least a Swiss powered watch:
Hamilton II Khaki King with metal bracelet
At some future point, god knows when:
Breitling Navitimer
Before that i might sneal in an Orient Ray 2 Ravin.
And a possible pride and joy:
Seiko powered Neymar 1000m black diver watch.
My goals for now.
No rush. But goals whenever i can afford them.
Thanks for inspiring me on my watch collecting quest.
very based and elegant EDC. This Tudor & strap combination is just fantastic.
Nice year report!
1. G-shock GA 700 uc 1 NATO green
2. Keys
3. Iphone 7
4. Shemag green
5. Leather black wallet
6. Converse bagpack green
Glad to see that I'm not the only one using a UV light for lumeshots!
And Tristano, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for sparking my interest in watches anew.
I am about to gift my girlfriend a nice Casio for passing her a-levels and to get her away from the Daniel Wellington she has.
Best regards from Germany and stay healthy!
Thank you TGV, lovely collection of dailies!
Very similar loadout. Gerber 420HC 30-001409 lockblade, one of several scratch-built Seiko watches, Carhart leather wallet. Carried separately (rucksack), spare eyewear, rain gear, a few ziplock bags, emergency battery for cellphone, some paracord and a lighter.
Paused it two minutes in just to say the smooth jazz in the background is excellent with this video. Splendid job TGV!
Thank you Michael,
Best regards,
TGV
-SKX
-a slim wallet
- kershaw leek
-my keys with a kubotan
Everything has a purpose. Lots of lint since I’m buying so many watches since watching your videos. I didn’t know your wife was Hispanic, I’m also married to a Latina! Lol. And as to the Gerber Ghost Strike you have; I had that same blade while serving in the Marine Corps. It was ALWAYS strapped to my back with the grip facing to the right.
That little Olight is my favorite because it sits on the key ring and you barely know it’s there, but it’s bright enough for most needs. Had one battery blow up inside and they’re sending a replacement.
I'm glad you're no longer with Watchbox and have returned to the OG--Old Gentry way of things :)
Hi TGV.. EDC, one of my favourite topics..take care my friend and stay positive.
That Dürer phone case is really something and looks to be a great motivator to carry on no matter what.
Lovely video as always.
