I am not like writing the reviews. But I would like to say this about the Stanley FatMax. I work in the technical department and don't put a heavy load on my Stanley FatMax. I use it daily to cut boxes, for example, etc. It feels great in the hand. unfortunately this is already the 3rd Stanley FatMax in half a year that it falls apart. I kept all three. So that if I have time I can repair it myself. I handle it neatly, never let it fall out of my hands due to the good grip on it. Unfortunately, it is not robust. It is an expensive disposable knife

" it falls apart" meaning the casing literally comes to pieces? The blade grip loosens? The cartridge holder? the sliding mechanism? What does " it falls apart" actually mean?...

      all parts come loose.

It is my second and it is always the same break : the locking mechanism for the blade.

I have one since years and it is very difficult to use: sometimes you slide and the blade stucks in the cartridge. The only good thing according to me is the locking wheel. I definitly prefer the simplier cutter from Stanley.

Thanks for the review. I just wanted to mention that I have had three of these over the past year and all three of them have broken in the same place; the locking mechanism for the blade. Once the little ring/washer that holds the finger screw in place and allows it to press the metal block inwards to apply pressure to the blade breaks loose, the entire mechanism seizes to function. Once is bad luck. Twice raise a suspicion. Three is a flawed design.
I have to agree with G Unit below: The knife feels sturdy and robust at first, but it is not worth the price.

Thanks for showing, You make it look so easy, maybe yours is an improved model, but I can tell you mine (I have 2) are so problematic the blade comes disconnected all the time so easily. then it's actually dangerous to hold the blade while trying to get it to re engage with the undersized lug, I absolutely hate the thing, So much potential and promise in the sturdy design but hopeless in the functionality. Overly complicated rubbish from my experience. Considering they invented the "Stanley" knife, (as we call every brand in Australia) They sure stuffed it with this one.

This helped me a lot!!! Thanks. But there's one thing that you missed, that thing at the end that is used to snap off the blade one section (or whatever it's called, English is not my first language) at a time; how do you take it off?

Mine keeps dispensing two blades every time. It's a piece of junk. I spend more time taking it apart then using it

I've got one. It jams a lot. It's good when it works, but a time waster too.

This tool will quit working properly at some point. Although it is warrantied, you will not get a response from Stanley. I will NEVER buy another Stanley tool and I recommend that you buy another brand, as well. JUNK. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
