Hey Ben, you really need to stop being obsessed by not having 'content'. The culture, the views, I like those videos a lot more then you throwing up, or cars honking non stop. I watch these videos for the journey, not the action.
Nothing wrong with this content whatsoever mate. To be honest, I enjoy seeing you guys in some not-so-chaotic situations. Boring to some, but informative for those that might want to visit a place like Oman. Something as simple as having a tea and a date with that man in the car park is also good content in my opinion. You'd be surprised how many people appreciate that just as much as a chaotic scene in a market in Karachi!
Welcome to my country. Just FYI, dates and coffee are found everywhere and served to anyone (locals and foreigners) free of charge. Typically a person takes these two items with them when traveling and stop to enjoy this little snack with themselves and others Sometimes you will have Halwa (Omani Dessert/Sweet) The place you visited is called Nizwa; lots of history there along with the famous market That meat you ate is called Shiwa (meat with spices that then gets slowly cooked beneath ground). Soooo yummy if done properly 😋 It’s quiet and peaceful because we’re trying to keep our culture alive. Hence why you have come across lots of forts, Souqs (markets), people wearing traditional clothing, etc
Your culture and traditions are beautiful and people are so nice. Definitely beats the anti Muslim narrative zionists push out to the west. God bless you brother 🙏
Hello Ben, Im Omani and I would like to thank you for your honest and authentic review on your experience in Oman, You mentioned the good and the bad with no filters. Keep it up and hope you visit again!
Ok I'm from oman just some tips for u guys if ur staying more than that or for the next visit, Renting a car was a great idea given the transportation situation. Petrol is relatively cheap in Oman, and prices are fixed, so they won't fluctuate. Also, the places being empty might have been due to school hours or the afternoon heat. It's common for people to stay indoors between 12 PM and 4 PM during summer, especially in rural areas or outside the capital. If you're staying for more than a day, you might want to check out some great spots for tourists like the Bimah Sinkhole, Nizwa, Wahiba Sands, Wadi Shab, Jabal Shams, Jabal Akhdar, and Falaj Daris. There are many amazing places to explore, including great spots for camping and off-roading. You can also see turtles and explore marine life, like diving and swimming with sharks. And if you prefer more crowded areas, you can head to cities like Nizwa, Sohar, or the capital, Muscat. As for Salalah, it's not the best season to visit, but there are still some good places to see. Just keep in mind that it's a bit far, so you'd need to take a plane or be on the road for about 10 hours, which I wouldn't recommend at this time.
You & Kat are truly making the BEST content on TH-cam right now & long may it continue! 👍🏼❤️ It will be sad to see you without her by your side when she goes home for a bit, but I look forward to seeing all your future adventures together!
Hi Ben I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and it hasn't gone unnoticed that no matter the situation (e.g. substandard shelter, long, humid, cramped sleepless nights on a bumpy train, food poisoning, getting peed on by a stray cat) Kat is ALWAYS smiling in EVERY video! That she can still be smiling and laugh at things that most would not be comfortable with shows me how positive she is in nature, and how that expressed positivity can be infectious and life improving for others around her. What a lovely, beautiful person she must be to have in your life, let alone travel with. That's half your luck mate! Be great to her, she's a keeper.
I came here to say a similar thing. The first time I saw her in one of his videos was some hellish 24hr ferry and she was so chill with it. She really is amazing.
I enjoyed this video a lot. It was more of an adventure/roadtrip than your other videos. I personally prefer video about adventure over social interactions because my job is to be a social worker. Dont change your style man, maybe you could start doing video of the traveling you do between destinations? I'd watch that and the video of the cool places and people you visit.
Your short trip to Oman brought back fond memories: I spent 7 years there in total. At the time I did a LOT of outdoor adventures - trekking via-Ferrata scuba mountain biking etc… if you plan to go again again let me know I can point you in the direction of some amazing places that take it to the next level and do true justice to what Oman has to offer. Shukran mumtaz
Man, soon you’ll have to change the name of the vlog to Backpackers Ben & Cat. She’s definitely a major add-on to the channel. Do it, mate. Cheers and Happy Hollydays.👍🏻😎
We love your videos, and cat is awesome the most positive person on you tube! I wish I could travel around and get paid for it! Freaking awesome hustle mate!!
Crazy content is fun to see, but I personally don't need it all the time. I enjoy the sights and sounds of different countries and the banter of you and Kat. Hope you both have a Merry Christmas and a great new year! Thank you both for the wonderful channel.
Hello Omani here , Been following you and Mr Bald (Benjamin) for a few years now mostly on Ben's channel...great content as always. I am happy that some travelers in 2024 are starting to discover our country whilst being overshadowed by rich neighbours with glammy skyscrapers like Dubai , Riyadh and Doha. Oman tries to stick to its roots whilst being developed and more things are coming in the future to further develop the tourism sector since we cant depend on oil for all our lives to bring money to the country.. Oman is not amongst the wealthiest arab countries but it does have a rich diverse authentic nature from the northern mountains of Musandam to the moonsoon land of Salalah at the south , in between there is the empty quarter one of the biggest deserts in the world... I hope to see Mr Bald (Benjamin) experience Oman for a few days. That man in the car park who insisted that you sit down and have coffee is not selling his food, basically in our culture after the afternoon 4-6 pm people go out when its a bit cools or even in early mornings and bring their food with them (dates and omani coffee - kahwa are essential of every meal when having guests) and you welcome everyone to have coffee or dates to chat and talk , in towns... and the place you are in is a (souk- market) its a lively place with people coming to shop and sellers so you are expected to have guests over , even if you dont know them, its like you must welcome them to your table or...sit on the ground like we traditionally do when we eat food .. Great video Ben , keep up the good work :)..welcome to our little hidden gem
I lived and worked in the Middle East for 6 years. It was one of my favorite place to live/work cause it was still super historical and clothe local culture and people were great. I was down by Thumrait and stayed in Salalah.

Wow you are right, a hidden gem indeed! I am so blown away by the natural beauty of this country! These people are so lovely omg. Thank you for showing me this Ben, I am forever grateful.
This is a great video! I really enjoy these types of laid back travel videos in beautiful places. Who knew Oman was such an amazingly stunning country!?
That was great! I really enjoyed watching your adventures in Oman. Thank you for showing what it is like in this country, which for most people, is an enigma. I loved the pace, the beauty, the interactions with the people. It was a great video.
Hello Ben, fellow Brit here. I visited Oman a few years ago during a cruise holiday. Went on a couple of excursions including visiting the Tomb of Job and the Sultan's Palace. Found everyone very friendly and helpful.
The guy offering you free coffee and dates at the back of the car was praying (you can tell by his counting of his fingers), that was probably why he was so chill. Anyway, good video. I hope to see more of Oman as I hope to go one day.
My dear old dad and uncle both fought there during the war and continued to visit right up until they passed away, beautiful country wonderful humble people!

Don’t think you have to be total chaos for every video for content. We want you to be safe and enjoy yourself without being stressed. You are truly a wonderful person and many people can take a lesson from watching your videos. See you in the next country 😊
No worries Ben about content loved this..Wishing you both a Merry Christmas and thanks for all the great vids you done this year. Love you both ❤ 🏴 🇵🇹
I have been to a few places in the middle east where there are barely any foreigners. I found that when you are invited to sit and have tea or coffee then offer money, if they say no, leave it be or they feel insulted because you disrespect them by not listening. Told to me by locals that surprisingly spoke good English. Offer once then let go of it.
Ben, you are great! But, Kat is the woman any man could wish to have had as a serene friend and lifelong companion. Kat, keep it up, but don't be conscious of your wonderful nature. Merry Christmas to both of you.
I live in Dubai. I get to Oman as often as possible. It's total chill and relax. The food, the beaches, the Wadis, the locals. It's the world's best kept secret.
Really enjoy your videos, but these ones especially are great. I love to see different places that other TH-camrs aren't going to. India and Sri Lanka is great, but to see Oman is really enjoyable to watch. These are the kind of videos that would make me think "I'd like to see Oman!" when before I wouldn't have a clue what to expect. Forget the "nothing worth making content of", people love these kind of videos too.
I hope you enjoyed your time in Oman. I know that we do not provide the crazy and thrilling experience in Oman "as you would hope". Most tourists who come to our country seek a quiet atmosphere away from the noise of the cities. I think the best way to see Oman is by renting a four-wheel drive vehicle and doing a road trip from north to south on the coastal road or on off road routes in the valleys, mountains & desert
Ben near your guesthouse in Nizwa there are two must visit popular landmarks , Nizwa Souq (market) and Nizwa Fort . You actually crossed Nizwa Souq when you were walking to your hotel and there was no action because it was the sunset and the Souq is closed at the time. You could have visited the Souq and the fort the next morning after the checkout from your hotel. You need to do some sort of planning if you want to have a better content .
I know you are an experienced traveller, but in my honest opinion, learning a few words/phrases of the country you are going in makes the interactions so much better. The people appreciate even the slightest effort and when you whip out some words they are not used to, their faces often lit up. That is my experience. :)
Ben, Laughed Sir - It's rare to hear anybody (...needing a 'Slash'. ) Totally understood but many may struggle with it. Great watch & listen. 'Best Wishes' sent to you & the Good Lady.
Ben, It look like you were like a fish out water. Oman is so chill. Hope you were able to keep the food down. Oman is beautiful. Kat, was the cat trying to tell you something /. As always a great video. Sending much love❤❤ for the Holiday Season🎄🎄 from Jim and Harriet
Worked there for a few months, 1h30 hour from Muscat. The place where I worked, Al Khaburah, was...ok. But loved Muscat and Sohar. Very nice (and calm) country. People are very kind.
The Batmobile was called a slingshot, made by Polaris in the US. mostly older guys in their 50’s drive them here. I think it makes them feel like a biker/rider bc they always wave at bikes
Ben I wished you could've come down to Salalah, southern oman. I've lived and worked here for 35 years and to this day can leave my car unlocked, key's in. Probably the safest country in the world mate. Nice vid 😊
I agree with Kat it's good to take a break, especially after your travels to some pretty chaotic places. As we are travelling along with you, the break was very pleasant! It's all about balance.👌❤
The Mussandam penninsula is such a wonderful place, Omani's are great. I've lived in the region for 20 years and been many, many times. You went South, you should have gone North from Muscat. The hornets are called paper wasps and they're vicious. But you can easily get beer in Muscat!
Thank You Ben and Kat for Another Amazing and Awesome Adventure in the New Country of Oman🙂💙👍Safe Travels👍Kat is a Great Travel Companion.👍Wow The View at 30:37 is Awesome so Beautiful👍
Sometimes the simple things make the best content. It doesn’t have to be chaos. Stunning scenery, interesting people, navigating roads and finding a toilet or a great place to stay, funny incidents like the cat on Kat 😂, that’s all you need. Great video.👍
I completely agree with everyone else. It doesn't need to be an unrelenting frenzy of chaos and vomiting. This video is definitely right up there with your best. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ben, Oman is next to Yemen at the foot of Saudi Arabia, similar in many ways except that Oman is peaceful and Yemen is caught up in disasterous wars. Roads look good, looking forwards to your vlogs from a country I cannot visit.
That Omani gentleman with dates and coffee was not selling anything , it is Omani hospitality to offer everyone coffee and dates. Welcome to the Middle East .
Hi Ben. I lived in Nizwa in Oman from 1993-95. It's the old capital of Oman when the country was known as Muscat and Oman. It's a beautiful historic place. Back in the day you needed a 4x4 to get to Jabel Shams (Sun Mountain). The only hotel was the Nizwa Motel later renamed Falaj Daris. Glad you had a peaceful time there.
Love Oman. Was funny to see that I actually stayed in the same hotel as you too. Definitely need to go back myself in the NY, as we're only next door in Abu Dhabi.
Being in Muscat right now it is interesting to see what you did and saw in Oman. Oman has been my long time dream destination and finally it was possible to reach easily and cheap via Istanbul. We will do a few days road trip and can't wait to see the desert, wadis, mountains and beaches. Especially cool will be to swim in some of the wadis' natural pools.
Great insight to Oman, Thanks for the whistle stop tour, well worth the trip up the mountains, awesome views Top vlog Ben Thanks for sharing Bruva : @ )

Ben I wished you could've come down to Salalah, southern oman. I've lived and worked here for 35 years and to this day can leave my car unlocked, key's in. Probably the safest country in the world mate.
Nice vid 😊
I love your channel from the south of the Sultanate of Oman
Big up Oman 🇴🇲!👊🏼
Just finished - cracking video you two. Have a wonderful Xmas and New Year x
Thank you! You too!
Keep going Ben and Kat and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !
great trip! no lack of content bro
Blimey 🤣🤣 maybe it’s time to change it up
Very much looking forward to your videos around Eastern Europe! You guys seemed to have a great time in Oman!
After the tsunami chaos, I bet this was a relaxing trip. What great views and the people all seemed friendly. Great content as far as I'm concerned.
Ah mate! Stress free peace and quiet 😌
Ben, Oman is next to Yemen at the foot of Saudi Arabia, similar in many ways except that Oman is peaceful and Yemen is caught up in disasterous wars. Roads look good, looking forwards to your vlogs from a country I cannot visit.
Didn’t realize until now that a simple vlog could outdo an active and chaotic vlog. Good job
Cheers pal!
Ben. Go to Portugal with Kat. For crissy and new year mate.
Great vid as usual and oman looks great.
Have a good christmas and new year Kat and Ben🎉
I would like to go there now. Unspoiled. Enjoyed the vid. Would never have had an inkling of what it was like otherwise. Thanks.
That’s so cute 14:00 he wasn’t selling anything he was just having a coffee break
Love Oman. Was funny to see that I actually stayed in the same hotel as you too. Definitely need to go back myself in the NY, as we're only next door in Abu Dhabi.
Thanks for sharing 🙏.
Lot's of love from south Africa 🌍🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Just seeing this in Minnesota. Outside it’s 20 degrees & icy roads. So I need a break & Ben & Kat is just what the Doctor ordered. 👏👏👏
Hey Ben it was awesome I got dizzy looking over the edge
Oh Man…. Great video and driving from Kat . Bet you got some random fridge magnets on your fridge ! Happy New year to you both 👍
It was obvious you both really enjoyed yourselves.
I really enjoyed watching it so thank you.
Great video! Just came back from there a short time ago myself, around Nizwa was awesome.
If you go again, check out the port city of Sur. It’s a beautiful town with dramatic scenery.
A stranger invited us to lunch in Oman which was a complete feast, hospitality is unmatched.
Another great trip, guys. Bet it was nice to visit a quiet, laid back for a change. BTW, that little Nissan will run happily on 91 octane.😁
great content ben😍😍
Great insight to Oman, Thanks for the whistle stop tour, well worth the trip up the mountains, awesome views Top vlog Ben Thanks for sharing Bruva : @ )
Thoroughly enjoyed this. I want to see more of Oman for sure.
