Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge: Is This the Ultimate Grand Touring Car?

The Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge is the most powerful Rolls-Royce and could be the world's ultimate grand tourer. The "Black Badge" edition of a Wraith is the darker, more assertive version of the luxury coupe. Mercedes has AMG, BMW has M, and Rolls has Black Badge. In this review, we examine what makes a Rolls-Royce such a special and unique driving experience and how that is turned up a notch in the sportier Black Badge edition.
Back in 2017, I spent several days with this Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge that packs a 6.6 liter V-12 engine producing 624 horsepower and 642 pounds-feet of torque combined with the an extremely luxurious design and interior materials. With an as tested price of $416,000, this car should be special and in this video, we find out.

We love ours, we have an "old" 2017, we thought there was just a bit too much chrome so we had a few items wrapped on the outside. We have Black Diamond paint and a bold blue accents in the interior. You literally arrive at your destination more relaxed than when you started.

To answer your question, this car had (as of 2017 when new) a $2,100 gas guzzler tax imposed by the U.S upon purchase. Combined city/highway figure was 15 miles to the gallon. The V12 is a thirsty thing!

That has always been my main question - I want to feel the "magic carpet ride"...it be cool to drive, but my main concentration is this ride everyone talks about.

The ride is very special. So, so smooth over rough pavement, yet, the car does not feel floaty at all. I am not sure how they pulled that off, but the ride is pretty amazing.

I didn't try pushing the front seat all the way back and then get in behind that seat. As you saw, I set the front seat to my comfortable position and then got behind that position no problem. The interior space is huge! Thanks so much for watching!
