Probably most people dont know this far as his wife goes - in his first pro team - NK Interblock there were serious rumors about how half of the team had already fucked her before she even started dating Ilicic. And his teammates actually warned him about her not being relationship material because she was a slut but he ignored all the warnings and still married her.

In 2010 he was by far the best player in Slovenian league, but somehow he thought that he can't make a living out of it and he applied for a job as a waiter. And so he was accepted, he left football and became full time waiter. It was July 2010, he recieved a call from then sports director of Nk Maribor Zlatko Zahović. The legend Zahović convinced him that he could make a serious career in football and offered him an Nk Maribor jersey. Josip accepted the proposal. In the quali match for champions league Maribor-Palermo in 2010 he made palermo stuff crazy about him and they signed him. In two months he went from serving you a pizza to 1.000.000€ per year contract. The rest is history, he stayed in Italy for 12 years, becoming one of the best in Italian league and one of the best in the world after all.
After depression hit him he decided it's time to come back to the club where it all begin, Nk Maribor. He said:" Maribor helped me, and now i will help them" (because Maribor is far from the club it once was)
So after all i would say an incredible story of Josip Iličić.
