Something that I found helpful was creating a "combo" button which you can use to make combinations with other keys. In this way you can control not only heading bugs but also altitude and VS and so much more. I had two combination buttons on my HOTAS. I'm planning to do a whole setup with this using the trim wheel in combinations with the other buttons I set to control VS, Altitude, and heading bugs. I like the mixture idea you have here.
The way you've set up the four-way hats for Pilot Position and Instrument View is genius and something I've replicated on every peripheral I set up. I think that goes all the way back to your VelocityOne yoke days over a year ago - it really works well for everything. I think that making easy workflows for masterful camera control is one of the most important pieces to enjoying MSFS.
Agreed Mike, it really does add a lot of ease generally to the flying experience.
Can you post a screenshot of the four-way hats setting for instrument views an Pilot position?

Just a little tip if you are running out of bindings😉
You can use one of the tree buttons at the bottom, next to the big XBox button, with other buttons to get extra functions.
For example, you can bind B22 (the one below the big Xbox button) with Hat1 to move your point of view
And B23 (the one just on the right of B22) with Hat1 to go to saved views
That's just an example, but actually, you can double or triple, the numbers of bindinds on this great joystick😊
Thats very intresting! Are the buttons next to the Xbox button as you mentioned the only 'Modifyer buttons'? I would love to map the RB RT of LB RT buttons like on the Xbox controller.

@@kwaliteitaccount3293 This is the same as what I suggested, but I use different buttons. You can set it up so many different ways! It's awesome.
@@kwaliteitaccount3293 Yes, actually, you can use any button as a modifier. You just have to be sure there will not be conflict within Msfs (the modifier button must not be used as a function in Msfs)
But those buttons next to the big X do have functions in MSFS .e.g. the RH one normally invokes pause which jumps you out of the flight to the options page??
@@TWOKDOK1 Yes you are right, that's why you have to unbind these buttons in the control settings first. You have to check if you want to use RH for example as a modifier, that it is not binded to any binding, like "pause" in your case.

The “throttle jitters” issue I had has been solved today thanks to opinions here. “Sensitivity” should be “ calibration”, because that’s how inputs can be fixed. I was almost planning a reinstall!

Good Evening. Received the Velocity 1 for Christmas and using your video to customize it. I did notice that using Joystick POV right for next instrument view also moves the heading bug when going through the different views.
I use my left POV for those functions.

I had to make a base for it with double laminated rigid cardboard. Was sick of holding so much tension down on it with my left hand to stabilize the base. The centering tension is so strong on this stick. But thats about the only bad thing about the product. Everything else about it is fantastic.
Huddison, one thing I've done is to use combinations of buttons for the H1. Essentially create a "shift" key with the B1, B2, etc. For example, H1 up alone will increase heading bug and H1 down will decrease it. But, B4 + H1 Up will decrease flaps, B4 + H1 down will increase flaps. This extends the usability of the H1 immensely.
That sounds ingenious.

Xbox series X, no issue with saving profiles- man you scared me when your first video came out with the base LED’s not working and unable to update FW- I pre-ordered also but got lucky because when mine came the base led’s worked from first plug-in and the firmware was already updated to most recent out of the box! So glad you got your Sussed (I’m American with British Wife only reason I know that slang!)😂. So far only thing I’ve changed from default is removed Toggle cursor from B-17 and assigned toggle spoilers because need that for my favorite aircraft the Honda Jet. I do want to change the B5-B8 buttons because the default assignments pretty much useless but just need to think a little more exactly what I want to use those for. I do like your H1 right and left to control the hdg bug…think I’ll do that too…thanks and love your channel!!
Thanks Kev & glad that you have a fully functioning unit (it does seem that most have).
:) You can hit the Windows key and run MF during a flight or in the menus, load the required profile.. it does not harm MSFS to do that even when flying.

On XBOX X, I have unmapped the touchpad because it was almost unusable and if you accidentally click on the touchpad button in flight, it can cause havoc. So axes more trouble than they’re worth. For helo, I use the touchpad button for resetting default view, (having re-mapped H2 for rotor pitch and H2 button for reset trim).
Great idea David. I'm hoping with future updates that the touchpad will be as intended in use.

Can save profiles with Xbox series s fine. Have turned the sensitivity of the track pad up to max and can get the cursor to move around, but it’s not really usable.
Thanks for the info Ed. I believe the main reason for the touchpad was for Xbox users, so hope they get it sorted for the Series S soon; it's fantastic on PC.
For the sensitivity settings... what profile are you using on the stick itself? I'm guessing standard, and then tuning in MSFS (not both) correct?
That's correct: standard on the stick itself and fine tuned in MSFS.

Thanks for this great video full of great suggestions!!!! i have a problem in msfs2020: when i put the stick on the right side (full) and stay there; the plane ( i see the virtual yoke or stick in game) goes immediately back to center position it occurs only on the right side .....Do you have any ideas how to resolve this? i am in despair....How to calibrate it properly? i use command joy.cpl it seems ok over there.... @huddison For button 3 ( increase flaps) did you delete any of the other mapped settings assigned to button 3?
For example one assigned to it also is toggle pushback, same goes for button one (toggle breaks) that has engine auto start, would these all conflict? Thanks
Yes I believe I did delete the default assignments for most buttons.
Profiles (SEries X) most often safe correctly, weird is that sometimes the new settings work after saving, than after restarting they are gone again. I had this several
times now.

I recently purchased the Velocityone after having stability issues with the Thrustmaster HOTAS.
Overall, I’m happy enough (though I’ve completely given up trying to assign controls - I’ll stick with the default settings), but one thing that’s bugging the crap out of me, is that on landing, the breaks seem to be automatically applied. I make sure that the parking break is off, but still the plane won’t budge when I try to taxi off the runway. Any suggestions?
Check in your Assistance Options - you may have something inadvertently assigned in there.
Another excellent product review Hudds. Like my Hotas a lot and use it with gamepad and mouse, especially when programming the Garmin. Looks like its more programmable. Any views on how it compares with Hotas on Xbox.

@@Huddison Decided to buy the Thrustmaster rudder pedals on Amazon. €40 off so will go well with Hotas, having watched your excellent video on them. Velocity can wait a while.
I have a Saitek throttle, but what I dislike is using the knobs in the sim to do three things: Autothrottle, Altitude, and Vertical Speed. My mapping is to use the buttons on the joystick. I have button 1 set as the Autothrottle toggle. I have button 4 set as the altitude hold. Butten 3 is lowers reference altitude, button 2 increases reference altitude. I have the left hat down set up to decrease reference air speed, and the up button set to raise reference airspeed. This makes it very easy to adjust air speed in the pattern. because I can do it with my thumb. Button 5 is set for heading toggle, and the left hat left decreases heading and right increases heading. I have button 8 set as the Vertical Speed toggle, and I have Button 7 set as the decrease VS, and button 6 increases. I was going to buy an autopilot panel but mostly because I hated using the little twist buttons in the cockpit. Now I can are the autotrottle and adjust speed easily and make my altitude and vertical speed adjustments easily .The throttle quadrant has flaps and gear but even if it did not, I could use keyboards for those functions. Having important autopilot functions on the stick really works for me.

Great review as always! Just got the product, so new to this. My right mouse press, used for moving view is inoperative for that function, all else ok. I find the top hats a bit awkward, especially for vatsim! Thoughts?

Update. My wireless headset didn’t work as well. Finally it dawned on me to check pc settings. Velocity one added itself as a device and MADE IT DEFAULT! Nice!

I haven't noticed any clicking sounds with mine; yours may need breaking in.
Highly appreciate your videos! Love the setting with the heading bug on POV Button. I will do that tonight... But I got a question. You know how there is a chrono timer on the small display of the stick? How do you make that chrono work? I cannot figure it out... tried all kinds of stuff but I am sure I am missing a setting.. any idea?
I've not really looked into that as of yet, but I shall and report back.
Press the buttons on the flightstick configurator wheel without turning it first as that will put you into the joystick menus. Right button start/pause chrono, left button reset chrono.

I bought the Flight Stick today and it totally transformed my previous gamepad controller experience. I have a PPL (now out of date) but I found it almost impossible to control the aircraft (C152) with any smoothness at all. It took me most of the day to set up the FStick owing to my relative ignorance and found my flying transformed! However, there were one or two issues. I am using Xbox X and thought I would be able to control menus e.g. in controls options using the stick alone but am still having to resort to the game pad for cursor work there and for initially entering my password etc.
The FStick is, as you say, well made and feels like a quality item. However, since getting it up and running, whilst rejoicing in the much-enhanced immersion, I experienced serious authority issues after about 15 mins of flight, when the aircraft was handling like a sack of bananas. I was climbing at about 1000 feet at 65kts at the time and the controls suddenly became very sluggish and I almost couldn’t maintain straight and level flight. After a while floundering around, I used the rocker switch on the gamepad to retract the flaps ( even thought they were not showing deployed in the cockpit and the flaps slider was fully retracted). This restored manoeuvreability but it happened again after a few minutes. This seems to happen every time I repeat the flight… a bug? Is it ok to use the gamepad and FStick in combination ( former as ‘cursor’ and latter for flying? Do you have any idea what might be going on. I cancelled the flaps fully deployed detente on the RH slider because I thought that might have an impact but no joy. Any ideas?

How can you set both previous/next Instrument view and heading bug on Hat 1 left and right?? When I try it it conflicts.
The next & previous modes will only activate when down in the instruments. Jump on to the discord and ask for help in there with your bindings.

Kinda to add on to your thoughts about the stiffness, when I went to an a320 cockpit simulator the side stick was actually quite stiff very similar to this stick

Hi have a question, im pretty new to this, I have the Velicityone flightstick. Is it possible to set up settings and save for different aircraft, I mainly fly GA, so I can have one for say a PA28, another for a cessna 172 etc and select them from the Contols option menu.
Yes just save the various settings under different profiles in Controls Options and apply them appropriately.

@Huddison, Do you think its possible to map the speed break to one of the sliders? Im trying to work out how to do it, for the arming as well as raising and lowering them.
The airbrake? You could map toggle airbrake to one of the levers detents. Not sure it'll work on an axis, but will aim to test this.

Having trouble with trim wheel very hard to set. I have auto trim off.
Also plane slightly pulls to right with stick in the centered position.

Trim wheel is great in its default settings; incredible to have it on a Hotas at this price.

With the exception of jets, helos and the newer stick-controlled jets (which have anywhere from a few to A LOT of speciality settings), do you find yourself using the stick more for taildraggers and the yoke for more advanced aircraft? My head tells me that I should be using the yoke for planes with a yoke (and thus probably more advanced controls) and the stick for simplier planes like a Stearman or a Pitts Special with less "moving parts", etc.
In your V1F yoke video, you set up a number of profiles, building from "Basic_yoke" to "Single_advanced", etc. An example of what I'm asking is your mixture assignment. You put that on the right lever but there are detents at either end that don't get used. No biggie, but if I programmed that for the prop instead (not something I'd expect in a taildragger), I'd be using the yoke instead of the stick! Do you have numerous profiles for the Flightstick? Right now, I have the Default and will use your settings to make a new profile, something like "Flightstick_Basic".(We'll tackle jets and helos later...).
Same thing with the left throttle lever; the detent at the front end is for "afterburner" if you're flying a jet but certainly NOT going to be a factor flying a simple plane with a stick. The rear detent would be, on a twin, for example, reverse thrust, again something not expected in a simplier GA plane.
Am I overthinking things here? 🙄

Since buying and owning the Flightstick, I've been using it in all my aircraft, 95% of the time - I really must get back to using my V1 Yoke, as it's somewhat been neglected of late.
I have several profiles for my FS: these include profiles for Helicopters, airliners and of course, GA aircraft. I'll cover these in upcoming videos.
I will also make more use of the detents as they really give a definitive 'clunk' when you employ them.
Agree with everything. I have BIG issue, right click on mouse to “look around” cockpit is not possible, but ok exterior view. Started when installed flightstick. Thanks.

Latest news. The throttle issue is NOT the velocity, I swapped back to other stick, same problem, ie: msfs2020. I don’t fly just try to solve problems. Another interesting bit, the problem changes with aircraft.

When I was using the Hotas One, I had freelook in the cockpit using a mouse (PC). When I changed to the V1 Flightstick, that capability went away and I can’t figure out how to get it back. Any suggestion or advice would be appreciated.
You have to delete all the assignments for the right hat on the flightstick (H2), then your mouse should work ok. I hope TB patches this issue soon.
@@Huddison I did delete all assignments from the right hat (H2) and cockpit freelook using the mouse worked. I then went back to cockpit camera view and assigned Joystick R - Axis X+ to Cockpit Look Right, Joystick R - Axis X- to Cockpit Look Left, Joystick R - Axis Y+ to Cockpit Look Down, and Joystick R - Axis Y- to Cockpit Look Up. Now I have cockpit freelook using both the mouse and the right hat (H2).
I've given up trying to configure this with msfs PC, particularly with PMDG. Went back to my older joystick. It's just too much trouble to get it working with virtual cockpit. Maybe I'll try it again later at some point.
What issues are you encountering? Our Discord is a great source of help in that regard.
@@Huddison I'm having issues also with PMDG 737 in MSFS 2020 on the PC. The only real issue is nosewheel steering when taxiing, not enough of a turning radius. I'd love to get it working better.

Hi Huddison, for the mixture left slider should I untick the reverse axis box?
It depends which way you would like Mixture setup - I keep the box ticked so that I pull my lever downwards to Lean.
Playing with it on my xbox series x I'm having odd issues. Where I chose world map, if the flightstick is plugged in and I select search with my controller, the cursor moves right down to the left bottom corner and when I come out of the search, I can't move the curser.
If I'm using the Flight one yoke, that doesn't interfere so I don't know why this flight stick is interfering. Is this happening with you on your Xbox?
Yes, I get similar oddities on my Series S, so thanks for feeding back on this.
I have notice that slightly moving the cursor with your touchpad (on the V1 FS), will let me regain full control of the cursor via the gamepad - worth a try.

I have the same issue, only solution was to turn off my controller and use a wireless mouse instead!
Just a wuestion but how do you stick the flightstick on the table so whenever i use it it doesnt move everywhere
You could use 3M sticky pads or screw it to your desk; I've found that I've not had to.
I have this Flightstick. When I use the right mouse button
to pan the camera around in cockpit view it doesn’t do anything. But it does pan around in external view. I’m stumped. I don’t like using a hat switch to move the camera around
Delete the assignments in Controls Options for the Touch Pad and your mouse should be working again.
@@Huddison thanks for taking the time to reply. I have got rid of the hat switch controls and now I have control of the cam again in the cockpit with the mouse.

I have throttle and mixture assigned to the levers, wanted to use the right hand side buttons for the prop but no idea where ti find the correct setting to assign it.

I would like to control prop rpm with the lever you use to control mixture. I can’t figure out what to assign it to. Any suggestions?
Look under Controls Options/Power management and you can assign it there. Pop into the Discord if you're unsure how to.

On the off chance in msfs I messed up deleted something by mistake on default do you know how to reset the stick to revert back to factory or get that back
To reset it to its default profile in MSFS: go to Controls Options and highlight the flightstick; chose 'Open Preset Manager' and delete all the profiles.
You should be left with your 'Default' profile (which you can't delete).
Do you know how to remap buttons on the turtle Beach velocity one Flightstick because I wanna remap B 16 because it doesn’t do anything (by the way playing flight simulator)
Just remap them via controls options.

I just got this stick. I like the button layout but i need to adjust the curves. PC/ Elite Dangerous where do you get this software that your using here? is this only xbox software?

@Huddison something isn't working correctly. i've updated the Firmware. I spoke with Turtle Beach. They said i need to install it on a phone or Tablet and bluetooth to it for that to work. so... on my todo list

Could kind person please share what the default number is when you go into the trim settings? It has that 5 digit number with no explanation at all as to what it does. I fiddled with it but want to put it back to what it was out of the box. Cheers :)
The number showing for me on the FMD, is 32895 - I don't know if this is 'default' though.

Late reply, but I believe that number indicates the current trim wheel position. 32768 or similar would be "center" and the number should increase/decrease while you scroll. I suppose it's a visual way to verify the wheel is working consistently?
I have been trying to assign Cockpit "Quickview Left 45 degrees" to the H1 POV switch (Up and Left position), but it will not work. It seems like the H1 POV sometimes comes up as Button 11/12/13/14, and other times it comes up as POV UP/Right/Down/Left. Anyway, anybody have any luck?

Great video, just got the stick. Annoyingly some bindings don't seem to be saving, they work and then revert to the original settings despite showing the new setting in the menu (MSFS on Series X) Frustrating as everything was working perfectly.

I have no lights on the buttons and the ring. How did you manage to get these to work. I only have a small light at the top of the stick.

How do you get the velocity one flightstick in the options section for the msfs simulator. I have nothing there except for the mouse and the keyboard
Ensure you have the correct 'Input Mode' set (depending whether you're on Xbox or PC).

I just got this flightstick and the h2 button keeps drifting up to stare at the ceiling.
Its intermittent but there more often than not.
When i check the button assignments the "look up" assignment keeps illuminating by itself which seems to indicate an input without touching the h2 switch.
Im really hoping i dont have to return it!

Hello. I couldn’t get the reverse on the throttle to work properly. I tried to bind the reverse toggle to the button 10. But it is bot working as intended. I want it to go to full reverse when I go to the reverse on the throttle lever. Which setting should I apply?
I've just tried this with the V1 FS and the Airbus: when you bind the detent to Toggle reverse thrust, ensure you have it set to 'On Press' (in the button biding box).

@@Huddison I have tried it. It toggles the thrust to reverse. Thank you. I thought when I slide the toggle to the reverse detent, it would go to full reverse without having to set the throttle up. Just like written on the stick (Full Rev).
But couldn’t get it work at all with pmdg 787 on pc.

Huddison are the sensitivity’s in different places on Xbox then? So I should do a like for like copy, but make sure I’m tweaking the correct setting? Thanks
In Sensitivities section, move the axis you want to tweak (like ailerons, Rudder etc) to see which exact sensitivity is pertains to - that's the best way to make sure.
@@Huddison yeah thanks got it just trying update it now, app on Xbox is poor, just stuck on select device and nothing happens.
@@Huddison updated in the end, as I was watching your video I notice stuff a little different like the camera assigned buttons, I have quite a few assigned as default and one of your assigned buttons I could not even find in the buttons list. (Joystick r axis x)
Perhaps the update may have changed stuff, not checked yet.
@@tel7625 I could not find joystick R either.I was just messing around and I believe the XBox equivalent is Joystick L, Axis 6 and Axis 7

Is there any way on Xbox when you are in cursor mode looking at the flight systems to pull the trigger and have it be the on off switch?

@@ld5984 I'm no expert but I don't think you can use the "trigger" to do that. It's on an axis, so it provides a range of motion, not just a simple "on / off".
It’s a shame they didn’t design the app to allow sharing of profiles. It would make life so much easier

Regarding the touchpad, I just had delivered a second hand flightstick today. I noticed immediately the touchpad is extremely insensitive to virtually unusable on my xbox S despite sensitivity at default Max setting in the stick's menu. The previous owner said he thought the touchpad was too sensitive on his PC with msfs. It seems to mirror your own findings.

That happened to me when I first got the FS; it seems to have sorted itself out. Contact TB on their Discord if it continues for you.

You have to unbind the H2 settings in the sim to do this. Hopefully this'll be addressed by TB in an upcoming firmware update.

whenever i play msfs and i pull up it keeps on going up till i push it down. same when i push right, i have to push left to stop it.
Sounds like normal aerodynamic behaviour, but join our discord to ensure something strange is not going on with your sim.

so basically like this: i pull right, it will keep up going right even though the stick is straight.
and when i push left, it stops banking
when i pull up, it starts rising and rising even though its straight.
so i pull down to fix it
For me, the heading bug still wants to change while in instrument view mode. Not sure what I’m doing wrong

@@Huddison I can, but when I switch between instrument views, the heading bug also moves left/right. Probably just something bound incorrectly on my end.
@@AlienTermite It should only turn ever so slightly when switching between views (I haven't really noticed).
Hi im suddenly having problems with my flightstick throttle not working. it works for about 10 seconds then power seems to cut out even though its still on full throttle. This is on default settings so nothing ive changed

@@tonixuk Under power management: check to see what inputs you have set to throttle.
@@Huddison i will do. im pretty sure its just the default profile you get when u plug the stick in but will check and reply tomorrow as im at work at the moment and away from my set up
@@Huddison So i figured it out with the help of someone on the forums. I had assisted take off in the settings which causes this problem on a few of the aircraft when using a flight stick. so relieved it was an easy fix

did you cut down the spring, that's a mod that's a game changer for this stick, its just too stiff
The stiffness of it is perfect for myself and others; but some like yourself do find it a little too stiff.
Looks like pushback is still set to the same button as the flaps. It was X by default. Your plane is rolling backwards when using the flaps lol.

@@HuddisonI got my autopilot set up. I used the trigger as a modifier. A,B,X,Y when you press the trigger arms Alt, heading, Nav, and VS. Holding A,B,X,Y and then using the hat switch changes the settings for each of those. I have Y set as a modifier for both VS and heading so that I can control pitch and heading both with the hat switch but I also still have A set to be the modifier that you hold to change VS. Also you can use the buttons for the view and the start button as well in combination with the trigger. The trigger only operates the brakes on the ground so it can be used fo modify anything. Also all of the A,B,X,Y buttons can modify the trim wheel to do things like mixture, zoom the GPS whatever. I haven't gotten that far yet.

anyone tried the joystick on steam on linux.
with no crashes to Desktop, plus NVIDIA DLSS enabled, steam on linux is getting better every release.
I cant save custom profiles on my Xbox Series X.

@@Huddison I tried it on PC and it works great. I really like the Flight stick. Hopefully the Xbox series S/X controller profile issues get resolved soon.
@@Huddison I found a solution to the issue. In Xbox menu under storage free up space u need to shrink MSFS. Then go back into game on xbox and delete rolling cache. Next I went to my control settings menu and on my TB Flight Stick was 6 Helicopter custom profiles due to me trying to create one and it not saving after leaving the menu. Shrink game, delete rolling cache and it fixed my issue. I had to reinstall Deluxe/Premium Upgrades and World Updates but it fixed the issue.
Wife has brought me one but not allowed to have it till Xmas day....sob sob 😭.

@@Huddison I'm referring to your settings for Cockpit View Yaw access and Cockpit View Pitch access, I use XBox S series. All I have are Joystick "L" settings.

A few had those issues - a complete reinstall seems to work (if a little drastic).
