      @@ArtisOpus right, thought I’d give them a few goes before replying so I could give a proper report back on the new products!
      The purple one first... cracking stuff. Seriously brilliant cleaner! Even gave a few old non-AO brushes a clean and it was amazing to see how much paint was still in the old brushes even after repeated cleaning in the past. Only slight thing you may want to think about though is the design of the bottle, yes I’m a little bit of a cack-handed idiot but trying to pour it into a shot glass I always lost a little off the side. Maybe make the lid a sealable spout?
      The soap next. Nice to have the bigger size, the soaps from and M&D series boxes were starting to run out. Nothing new to report other than that because I know how good the soap was already from the little ones in the series boxes! Best brush soap I’ve used!
      Now the cleanser. Lovely smell to it! Does the job excellently, “like new” points on my M series and also the old non-AO brushes I tried on it. Also top job on my D series brushes, one question though... next morning when I was flicking them out I found they were still had a slight oily feel to them. Is this intended or do I not take enough of the cleanser off the brush head before leaving to dry?
      All in all HIGHLY recommended!
      On a side note, one of the things I have really loved about these cleaning products is the confidence it gives me in using AO brushes. Too be honest I haven’t used my M series brushes half as much as I wanted because I was worried about damaging them by not cleaning them properly. After all Artis Opis brushes aren’t cheap brushes! With this video and the new products it’s given me more confidence to use my AO brushes as my regular brushes instead of cheaper brands because I now have confidence in myself to look after them as they deserve to be looked after!
      Thank you lads! I shall be ordering my S series soon to complete my triology. Hope your all staying safe and well!

We designed them to be used, so I am pleased to hear about the confidence! It is meant to leave a very small amount on for conditioning purposes but only a very slight. Experiment a little to see how it goes. Did it have any detrimental effects? 😊 Lots of love!

    With using the paint purger with really stubborn paint nodule's I've worked out to put a texture pallet under the kitchen towel and draw the brush backwards across the pallet and towel, it really knocks off the matted paint. Works especially well with the dry brushes.

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do this! You are the only other person who has discovered the magic, nice one! :)

    • @MadAl37
      @MadAl37 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtisOpus before I had a texture pallet I used a the joint strip on the kitchen work tops. It's just having a ridge to draw the paint particles down and away from the Feral.
      The other thing I've done is have the reverse side of the texture palette laser etched by a friend so it has ridges across the wall width of varying line spacing so it gives me a little extra grip of it, (to help with brain injuries), but also giving another side to the pallet so it tunes the brush a little for dirtying up panel lines and raised edges on flat surface areas. I just need to get my hands on a dampening pad now, I bought my brushes individually to allow for a disability income, I've been using a wet pallet sponge for the time being.

    Hi there, thanks for your answer! I know about not getting paint into the ferrule and I unfortunately do not notice that water gets out the paint that easily.
    I tried to restructure my brush rinsing questions and would appreciate it if you could answer them one by one ;)
    (1) How often do you rinse your brush while painting with 1 colour?/How long do you paint with 1 colour until you rinse?
    (2) Do I have to visibly get out all the paint when rinsing while painting?
    (3) When rinsing, do you drag your brush on the bottom of the water glass to get off the paint (I am doing that atm, is it bad?, yes I have experienced split tips) or just swirl it around without touching the bottom?
    (4) Basically I wanna do more painting and less cleaning because whenever I feel that paint has dried and doesn’t get off with water during painting, I immediately use my masters brush cleaner soap to get it out which feels wrong to me and annoying to deal with.
    This is a big deal for me because I have now received my Series S Size 1 which I wanna treat right :)

    Capillary action will pull liquid into the ferrule no matter how you store it, unless you have it soaking wet it shouldn't change the amount of liquid going into the ferrule between storing bristles up or down. It will evaporate at some point anyway.

    The AO samurai rack is a GREAT way to store your brushes right after drying. I would recommend not leaving them in a table so that the brush hairs get to dry evenly and any soluble solution that may have entered the ferrule evaporates properly. If you don’t have a rack, simply elevating them on a surface where they won’t roll off is a good way to dry them as well. Happy cleaning - happy painting!

    I've heard from some other people that good brushes shouldn't be used with contrast paints as it will ruin them quicker, but I see your video uses contrast paints too. Is there a secret to the brush, or the way you clean them? or would these brushes subject standard wear and tear to metallics and contrast paints?

  • @WrenchNato
    @WrenchNato ปีที่แล้ว

    I am curious about the dry brush cleaning. When cleaning how clear should it end up? If I am painting metallics will it end up perfectly clear or will it end up discolored? Yours looked much darker but I didn’t know if you were going to try to clean it more.

    After I complete the process, there are one or two “renegade” hairs jutting out by themselves (Da Vinci brushes). Is this sometimes inevitable wear and tear, with those hairs needing to be trimmed off, or is it more a sign that I haven’t done the cleaning process thoroughly enough? Thanks

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's fairly normal. Cleaning loosens up any pigment that might be holding hairs that would have already left, so they might come out. Or lean to the side. They're normally ones you should just pluck out, or carefully cut off as low as possible :)

    is the cleanser similar to turpinoid? I have been using this stuff for years, and it's great (as well as masters soap) the turpionoid has that citrus smell to it as well, so I assume it's a similar product?
    I'll be picking up the purple one for sure, but I already have over 200 quids worth of stuff in my basket, so if I can avoid buying the clear one it would help a lot TBH. I think the purple one will be ideal for my series D as you do tend to end up with dry paint in dry brushes. I had ben using make up brushes and goat hair mops previously, and the turpenoid takes a long time to remove the dried paint. I think the purger product is probably exactly what I need for this job.

    Hey everybody! Please advise young painter how often should I thoroughly clean my brushes? I mean, presently I clean it everytime after a painting session so that they look like new, but it takes more than an hour:) what if to give it light cleaning after a session and then deep cleaning at the end of the painting week for example?

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey dude, it depends how frequently you're painting, what paints you've used, etc.
      When I was commission painting I did a small clean and rinse after each session, and then cleaned and conditioned them more thoroughly at the end of each week :)

    Hi there, could you tell me how/how often I should wash out (or rinse? idk what you call it in English sry) my brushes during painting? What I am currently doing is having a water pot ready and I am sort of dragging my brush tip on the bottom of the glas to get the paint off. I don't know if that's the right way to do it. And yes I already had split tips although I didn't feel that I am cleaning with too much force or something. Am I supposed to only swirl it in the water every 2 minutes without touching the bottom of the glas? It also seems to be extensive cleaning in my opinion in general because if I wait too long I can already not get it off anymore with just water and have to use brush cleaning soap. So basically I wanna be painting more with less cleaning/washing out every 2 minutes. I wanna get a few Artis Opus Brushes soon but I need to know how to treat them right first as they are expensive :)
    Also I wanna know if it is necessary to get all the colour out of my brush aka clean it until it looks like new (colourwise) or if that is not so important.

I am also down to send you my rinsing question a bit more structured via email again as my comment was like a huge wall of text.

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YT is awful for notifications :). A few tips to help with your brushes:
      #1... Don't dip more than half way up the hairs! Use another brush for taking pain from pots,.mixing, etc. I use my older brushes for this (I paint the tips red or black)
      #2 Acrylics are quite friendly, a quick rinse in water between colours should be fine.
      Note: heavier products: Washes, contrast, base paints (also used heavily... So often they go up to the metal, which should be avoided).
      support@artis-opus.com :)
      More questions here are fine also, just use a new comment. Thanks for you message!
