    My wife was amused when I told her that one of the channels I subscribed to, the one with the guy who's voice she likes, posted a makeup brush cleaning tutorial, and I was excited to watch it.
    She had a right giggle.

    I just recently, FINALLY, tried your recommendation of makeup brushes for dry brushes.
    OMG WHY DID I NOT TRY THESE EARLIER?!

      Agree; I went on Amazon and picked up a multi-pack of brushes with roll case for about $10 which will last me a life time.

    A little add-on tip from a geeky wet shave fan, if you DO get it wet up to the glue, hang it brush side down to dry. There's a reason shaving brush or asian calligraphy stands hang vertically, brush down, and its specifically to avoid undue wear-and-tear on the brush.

    I gave up drybrushing years ago because regular brushes didn’t work. Tried Walmart makeup brushes and WOW what a difference. This was the info I needed, one of them is dried stiff.

    If you hit the Dollar Tree where everything is a dollar, they have one with a white handle that is much like the one you have in the video. And only $1.

    • @Bluecho4
      @Bluecho4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly where I got my set of make-up brushes (sparkly blue handles). Three of them in a container, one of them the big kind. It's a good selection of sizes for dry brushing, I think. One dollar for the whole thing.

  • @RonWylie-gk5lc

    They really do make great dry brushes, I bough my set after watching his other video about dry brushing, I needed to mafe 4 alien eyes for a halflife creature I made and though I would try making them in sculpie red then mixing the colors with the airbrush, I decided to give these a go with dry brushing forst and the effect was amazing, better and a lot easier than airbrushing them

    I really love how well these work, was a lot of fun asking my girlfriend if she has any that he needs no more then telling her I want to paint with them.
    The look of "what did you knock over with your head?" was priceless.

    I'm a professional makeup artist, and I've cleaned my expensive makeup brushes with a bar soap called Zote soap that you can get from Walmart for $1 and sterilizing them with alcohol. Cleaning them is not as complicated and expensive as some people make it out to be.

    • @ShowerOnceYearly
      @ShowerOnceYearly หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im glad I read this because Ive been told before that alcohol will ruin the bristles on my brushes.

    I just figured this out a few weeks ago with my Artis Opus drybrushes. If you clean your brush and then try to go for another drybrush session right away, the damp drybrush will leave streaks of paint instead of the drybrush effect.

    • @dargor3
      @dargor3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And yet, on their videos, they seem to go to the dampening pad every now and then. I never understood that.

    • @zakhoskins6404
      @zakhoskins6404 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dargor3 I think the key word there is "damp" not "wet". I've seen their videos, and they specifically mention needing to wipe it off on the back of your hand until it's just slightly damp. That said, you don't need to pay $80 for their brushes, dampening pad, and wooden box when cheap makup brushes, a sponge with small pores in a suitably hard container, and a small box available anywhere will do.

    Its fine to wash them with a mild shampoo. Its recommended to thoroughly wash make up brushes regularly for hygiene reasons, so as long as you leave them to dry fully they will generally be fine.

    I started using the make up brush to dry brush but I also realized they are great to put on a base coat after I prime it lol. Idk stuff looks great can’t complain and you can go heavy and light as you work around model.

    • @childofthedarkrat
      @childofthedarkrat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zenithal prime and then a base coat with one of these, followed by a few thin glazes gives a lovely well blended finish

  • @vikingblast3582
    @vikingblast3582 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll have to try this. I usually clean them the usual way (brush soap), but that doesn't get everything, so I go back with some Isopropyl to get the rest of the gunk out. One think I always notice is that about 15 minutes in, they hit a point where they're too gunky / sticky to work well.

    You can also use Iso, it will evaporate faster and you can re-use the brush faster.

    • @Khaine8
      @Khaine8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      unless it is synthetic, you dont want to use iso on real hair brushes or it will suck out all the moisture and oils from them and the hair will start breaking off .
