  • In May of 2022 a full-sized IFS Tundra on 40s completes the Rubicon Trail with 3 of his Jeep buddies. The Tundra is the only one that goes through the Little Sluice and pops out the other end where the trail rejoins with the Little Sluice bypass.

    That quarter panel damage is so beautiful. Rarely do we ever see a tundra go legit rock crawling

    Nice vid. I wheel my 🐏 and am in the middle of building it. Going 37 mudder's on 6 inch suspension lift. Hoping to hit the Rubicon by end of summer

    This is more rock pushing than rock crawling.
    I love it.
    Is there a build thread or parts list anywhere for this rig?

      Ah yes i remember this thread thinking he clearly has no kids and or wife lol that is an expensive list of mods but I know they were worth every penny and it shows in these videos.

      So I was looking at doin a whole upgrade with a full long travel dirt king and then upgrading the rear with deavers. I was also gonna do gears and lockers in the front and rear and I’m looking at roughly $20k. But it looks like your list may be about the same or at least I was wondering. But your rig is stout and it’s where I want mine to be if you can advise please

    The spotter is an amateur. As long as you enjoy body damage on your truck- enjoy!

    What size wheels? I also have the BDS with fox coils and everyone’s saying you can’t have 17s without spacers.

    Nice truck, are you running 37 ? Can i go wheeling with you guys ? I have a tundra on 37 , 5.29 gears and front and rear lockers. waiting on my parts to go 40s with long travel kit.

      Rolling on 40s. Sounds like you've got a capable rig. You're welcome to join us when we plan a trip. Where are you located?

    Are you running the bds spindles?

    • @wheelingfullsize
      @wheelingfullsize  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, with the Fox 2.5 coilovers. I had the drop crossmembers gusseted to fix a weak point and to add protection.

      @Wheeling Full Size ah I see. I’ve gotten the chance to see tundraflatbed40’s build up close and talk with him a few times but I have yet to wheel my tundra where a drop bracket lift (properly modded of corse) and 40’s is required. Maybe this weekend I’ll find some spots where I’ll wish I had your set up lol I read somewhere that the mild steel used for the custom lift spindles bends but clearly you wheel your truck on the regular so what have you found to be the weak points if any?

    • @wheelingfullsize
      @wheelingfullsize  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is actually just one weak point that I've found and that is the mount point on the rear drop bracket where the rear most mount of the front differential is bolted onto. There are 3 mounts on the front diff - 2 in the front and 1 in the rear. Mine developed a crack so I removed the brackets and welded gussets to reinforce it. Otherwise everything else has held up fine, no issues with the spindles. I know tundraflatbed40 has had issues with the spindles but then again he doesn't have lockers. I've wheeled with him and have witnessed his truck having to bounce over obstacles - maybe that's what's caused them to bend.

      Yeah I love all your guys trucks (the black pearl..Spartan’s Pluto..tundraflatbed40 ..weil303) and more are all inspiration’s for people with tundras… it would be awesome to see all the infamous tundra builds go and run in Moab for the full size invasion. I would go for sure. I’ll need more pars first though lol

      I was trying to get in on the Fullsize Invasion - Sand Hollow but the registration window is very short as it sells out quick. Gonna try for FSI Moab in the Fall.

    How expensive was it to get IFS to support 40s? 😳

    • @wheelingfullsize
      @wheelingfullsize  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was on 37s for a long time, then went to 39s for a few months before jumping to 40s. Only difference was that I went with RCV axles, trimmed some of the fenders, and removed 4 inches off of the wing on the rear bumpers. Definitely need high clearance bumpers and a tall lift.

      The IFS on the tundras is plenty strong. You just need to reinforce a couple things and it will be fine. Getting everything else to support 40s on the other hand…
