Paul Barton is a magnificent and inspiring pianist. He has an exceptional talent of interpreting most beautiful compositions by renown composers by creating musical images and portraits for us to enjoy. But not only that; he also offers videos where we can learn to play these iconic musical pieces. Paul Barton is, like the composers whose music he plays, a gift from heaven.
I heard this for the first time a few months ago when Jean-Yves Thibaudet played it as an encore after playing the Debussy Preludes. I had never heard it before but it will always make me think of that recital.
Just love this piece of music so relaxing to listen to.Thankyou Paul for playing this to us this is fantastic you are so talented. Take care to the Barton family. Love watching your Vlogs😊😀👍
Bellísima interpretación. Lo estudié cuando fui alumna de Pedagogía en Educación Musical en la Universidad de Chile y la interpreté para el examen de piano. Me trasporta a un lugar de paz. Gracias por compartirla. Santiago, Chile
Absolutely lovely! Could you try it out on those beautiful elephants you used to film, listening to you playing great music? Some of those films were phenomenal! Best wishes from George
Beautifully played Paul. I recorded this to be played at my ex-husband's funeral (my son's father) last year. I have not played it since and I doubt if I will ever again. There's a part where the notes go all blurry...
Whenever I learn to play a new piano piece, I search youtube to see if Paul Barton has recorded it. I find the sensitivity with which he plays the pieces very soothing and I usually aspire to play the piece similarly. However, with this piece (and this is just a personal opinion, not a criticism), I find the tempo a little too slow. It also seems more 'mechanical' than a lot of other recordings made by Paul, with less feeling put in to it. Sorry. Please do keep up the good work though Paul - I will still keep searching for your videos for any new pieces that I learn to play.
I have a very old early manuscript and the chords are broken in that. I think it’s early 1900’s. It was my great great grand mother’s music, but it is more detailed than some modern versions. Also, a greatly simplified version is set in a different key for ABRSM grade 3. I think the original is more like grade 7, to play well with good dynamics and sensitivity.
Vibrant ! Emouvant ! Un "salue d'amour" pour toute votre famille...

Merci beaucoup Monsieur Paul.
Beautiful arrangement and sensitive, heartfelt performance - I love that the tempo is relaxed and piece is played with a lovely, natural rubato!❤❤❤

Beautiful as always. The sound seems to be clipping a bit during forte passages though, and sounds too far away. 😢

I can see this being used in an old silent film. Maybe a Chaplin movie.
Why does this song sound so quintessentially French?
Je ne sais pas.
« Salut d’Amour » c’est un indice
❤
So lovely and beautifully played. Looking good, Paul. You look like you’ve lost a bit of weight.
Idk why but the chords in the sheet is always played as quick broken chords even though they are not stated that way in the sheet
